Lap Times Reported Incorrectly

HUD is displaying lap times. One of my times was 1:35:780. The next lap was 1:35:082. The HUD had 1:35:780 as Best Lap. That was also shown as my best lap when the race finished.

was one dirty and one clean? If so it is going to keep the clean lap time even if you set dirty lap times that are faster.

Also just realized you are new to forza by your profile information.

Clean lap is 2 wheels on track at all times, not drafting, not using mods, and not touching walls. There will be an triangle or exclamation next to the time if it is dirty.

Thanks. I don’t recall seeing a triangle, but it’s very likely one lap was dirty. But I don’t get why drafting and using mods are considered dirty. Why are there rewards for using them?

because its a new feature and the developer wants you to try their new thing.

Drafting allows you to reach speeds you couldn’t reach while not drafting, so without teamwork it would highly effect the leaderboard. Some of the mods have increaded grip/hp etc so this would highly effect the leaderboards too.

Just to chime in here, most likely faster lap was dirty, even if there was no triangle. Not all races show you that you’ve dirtied a lap.

For some reason when in career mode the triangle for dirty laps doesnt appear. …even when obviously dirty
Also some mods are now supposed to allow you to get a clean lap since the last update…depends on which mod though…and i did say supposedly

Maybe that’s how I can use mods and still have some clean laps? Which mods? Maybe I don’t have them yet?

Any mod that does not enhance performance does not dirty your lap. However, if you use mods, clean lap or not, you still won’t post a clean lap to the leaderboard. That’s going to be dirty no matter what.

are you sure…the last update was supposed to allow Mods that dont enhance performance to post a clean lap to the leaderboards…otherwise what difference would it being clean or not be

Yes, I’ve done clean laps with mods (know these were clean because a faster dirty lap didn’t change the Best Lap), but the time posted to the leaderboard was still dirty. There were a few threads about it too, soon after the last update.

Yeah, that’s been addressed, the faster lap would have been dirty. Yet, the matter is even more confused because 1) in career you’re not told you’ve dirtied a lap, and 2) the lap posted to the leaderboard is still dirty if you’ve used mods, even if you did a clean lap.

Edit: Yes, I’m particularly referring to mods that do not enhance performance. I, myself, used three xp boost mods.

I think your right, but either way this wouldn’t have been ops issue. He said he posted a lap and then the next lap was faster but didn’t override it. He dirried the lap somewhere.

Yeah i’ve had it where i had a faster dirty lap that went to the leaderboard but since it was dirty, it was waaaaaay down the leaderboard but i had a clean lap that was slightly slower, by hundredths of a second and this lap would have been much further up the leaderboard. Seems that this clean lap should apply to the leaderboard since it gets you higher up on it than the dirty lap. But it just defaults to the fastest lap no matter what.
