Lab Rats Needed!

We have scrapped the Two Minute Tune. Most of the tunes have been unshared and the rest will be soon. As soon as the Three Minute Tune is complete we will try sharing again. Thanks for the support.

I’ll run a tune or 2 for you. Would you rather have feedback here or through a PM?

Good or bad, public feedback is always best for us.

What code?

It’s just a figure of speech.

This sounds interesting. So how do I get on the wagon?

I love D/C class cars and am fairly competitive in those classes. Which cars do you want tested? Do I get treats after each feedback?

I am a new player since christmas. your cars are the best I’ve driven so far. keep em coming!

GRD,
You’re already on the wagon. Sorry, no treats. Try a car and see what you think. At this price you can’t lose.

I was too busy driving around LB last night. Might get to do some testing perhaps during the weekend.

I use ZERO assist so you need not be worried about that.

Ok, sorry for taking so long, but i have had a look at one of your tunes. I will get round to more, but for now, this is what i have to say about your ‘Abarth Punto Supersport’ tune, tested around Catalunya Full.

Pros;

  • Nice gearing. Bit short, but the tune seems to be more suited to a smaller, tighter track, with more of a focus on acceleration. Won’t be wanting to take it around RA
  • For the Most part, it is nice and grippy, and is stable, so it gives me confidence that i wont have it break traction during a corner. This never happened which is good.
  • It’s responsive, so i know if i need to turn in, it will turn in when i want, at the time i want.
  • Brakes worked well, but this can be just user dependant. But, i found myself not locking them up. Could use more pressure though (Maybe add 15%-25%)

Cons;

  • The suspension seems to be too soft. The car doesnt feel ‘set on the road’, and so i would advice just stiffening them up. Not by too much but maybe adding an extra 50lb on each end.
  • There’s something wrong with the balancing of the springs/dampening/aero/something? It tends to suffer with oversteer which is not good for me. I want to put the power down and not worry about oversteering, so a bit more understeer would work well (The way i go about this. Catalunya circuit. The big right hander after the straight. If i put the power on on the apex at the middle of the corner, i want the car to be on the outside of the track when i am on the straight. Hope this helps)
  • The Rebound/Bump dampening settings could do with stiffening a tad bit. Just helps when clipping the curbs to keep the grip.
  • The Differential settings are too low. I would increase the front which may alleviate the oversteer, and the rear to keep the back end in line, as i found under hard braking, the rear did want to break free.

Overall, i do enjoy the tune, its a fun car, a fun tune, and a good platform. Just that diff. and oversteer are problematic. But, a nice RWD Abarth! Good job.

I will try to get a PM across to you over 2 resources i found on Reddit which help me to tackle over/understeer problems, which i feel you could use really well. I should get it to you later on this evening.

Thats one! I will look at another one. Hope the advice i have given helps you

Right, well i have now just tested the Alfa Romeo Guilietta QV (A car i will be tuning myself sometime), and i tested it around Long Beach (Well, i had to, right?)

Pros;

  • The Understeer-Oversteer balance is a tad bit to the understeer side, but this is good! I can correct understeer easier than if i had oversteer, and is more beneficial when racing/hotlapping for me
  • The differential feels good here. A bit more to the accel. would allow me to put more power down, so maybe add an extra 5%?
  • I point, it goes. Steering is good, i didnt feel i was fighting the car to turn in, which is nice to have.

Cons;

  • GET RID OF THE SPORT TYRES! There’s a few reasons for this which i shall list now.
    *This car has enough grip to allow you to run street tyres. And the Aero package also compensates, so try running Stock or street.
    *THIS CAR LACKS POWER! There is woefully small amount of power behind it.
  • The power band on this car is low on this car (Looking at peak HP around the 4750-5750RPM range) So the gearing needs tweaking. I would suggest stretching the final gear out and making the individual gears more acceleration biased. Heck, try removing the race gearbox, and having a sport one. This could benefit with it.
  • You may need more toe out, and more caster, as it doesnt react very quickly. When i want to turn in, i want the car to do it, and do it quick. This doesnt, and likes to take its time.
  • Springs need softening a tad bit.
  • Get rid of some of the rear tyre width. It just doesnt need it IMO.

I didn’t like this as much TBH. This is a car i would keep FWD, but an RWD variant works. The grip is there and never lets you down, but it just doesnt have the power. I will work on my FWD tune and let you know when it is up and get your opinion. Maybe 2 minds are better than one

Car: C500 '13 Mazda Miata
Track: Test Track (this is my default test track)

Straight + Ramp (jump):
Full front/rear suspension compressions but the car lands safely, front touches down slightly early than the rear

1R high speed right hander:
2 results: either the front end washes out leading to understeer or if the rear end is encouraged to slip the car can take the corner in slight drift with excellent exit speed; there was no middle ground.

Bumpy Section:
OUCH! On the left side of the track, the car’s front suspension bottoms out and lifts the front of the car off the track. The right side of the track (the safe side) it felt fine. I like to cut across from the right side of the track to the left. If I catch the left side of the track, WHAM the front end crashes and it feels like I am smashing the car at 100mph.

2R high speed right hander through the lamp posts:
No problem here.

3R/4L high speed chicane:
The car feels a little floaty and loose. The roll of the car during 3R to 4L transition feels too much - but not enough to unsettle the car with careful steering/throttle controls.

5R Heavy brake than right:
About 120mph > 60mph brake is very good and trail brake right turn is also composed and expected.

Straight:
At the end of the straight is another abrupt bump on the track which cannot be avoided; the car crashes again at this spot which lifts the car again (but not as much) resulting in momentary loss of traction on all 4 tires.

6L lift (maybe touch on brake) and left:
Difficult to time this corner due to unsettling hop at the end of the straight. No other issues here; the car hugs the inside corner nicely.

7R 180° double apex:
Thanks to the downforce the car stayed put under high cornering g’s + acceleration.

Overall, the car had slight understeering tendencies but was able to counter it with steering & throttle. Braking is good. Handling wise the car feels a bit floaty at high speeds and requires fine throttle and steering controls. Suspension compliance requires major overhaul as the suspension/bottom of the car crashes against track features that I did not realize, prior to this exercise, even existed. Amount of power feels very good; the car was still good enough to placed at #101 (I think it was) on Test Track LB C-class. Tune would be OK on smooth race tracks but not recommended for the likes of Sebring.

Tested a few broke several in top 200 no major problems. Would win many online races. Love 97 honda for short lemans c class. Love 03 celica as well for multi online tracks.
