Just upgraded from 5700 XT to RTX 4060 Ti and my fps is worse, what the hell

On same setting, I get dog biscuit FPS and FPS hikes are all over the place (does g-sync even work in this game?). DLSS also seems not to do anything. What gives? Especially when FH5 runs maxed out at 144 FPS stable and looks way better than FM overall.

FM has no business being this poorly optimized when FH5 runs like a butter and looks lot better

It’s even worse with a 4090. Trust me I know…

They need to at least get the frame gen into the game ASAP to mask their incompetence

They can’t even release a functional game, let alone anything else.

Seems like it doesn’t matter which brand or model GPU you have, because fps is still all over the place (I have AMD 7900XTX). While it can stay around 100 most of the time, then there are places where it falls to low 40s - all this during one track and weather conditions doesn’t play much role in here.

If you’ve kept the same graphics settings, it’s clear, it’s not normal

I have the same card 7900XTX as you and in ultra with RT I have a stable 60 fps

I get roughly to 60 FPS, but I have 144 Hz panel, so the dips are not good and very noticeable jank comes from them. With 5700 XT I got 70-90 with RT off and was more stable so not much jank, with this card I get 50-70 with RT off. I would not expect performance go backward for almost 3 year newer GPU

Maybe FM is better optimized for AMD cards? On the other hand, DLSS and FSR don’t work if you’re below 60 fps if I’m not mistaken

FM and optimised do not belong in the same sentence

I use custom settings that are based on Digital Foundry’s optimisation guide (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdSvwhxSgmQ).

Benchmark results:

What CPU do you have? Does the benchmark show you are GPU or CPU limited? I seem to remember this game is heavy on the CPU as it isn’t multithreaded. Also if you have an older CPU then the 4060 Ti only uses PCI-E 3.0 which is half speed. Another thing is that nvidia drivers have a high CPU overhead compared to AMD.

I think the game works better with AMD cards. And the general rule has always been that xx60 cards have to be double checked because some generations of xx60 cards are frankly poor comparing AMD in performance for price.
I have had more nvidia than AMD cards but honestly I think AMD are slower but more stable.

These are the settings I changed to get the game to not hitch all the time, even then you can see it had stuttered 8 times in a handful of corners on Hakone.

If your 4k panel is only running at 60hz max try using the vsync-60 option in game and see how you make out.For me it’s totally smooth compared to unlocked.Using the vsync-60 option will also allow more gpu headroom to turn up a option here and there…

47" OLED 4k Monitor 120hz.

Have you made sure all the old GPU drivers have been completely removed?

What resolution are you trying to run at?

Don’t use Geforce Experience.

Are you limiting framerate or are you running it unlocked?

Not turning v-sync on may cause more stutters as is explained in here as well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qy72tf-l48g&t=73s (longer version of the video I previously posted).
