Just bought an X1. What's the big differences between FM4 to FM5?

I just bought an X1 online on Friday. It wont get here till Tues-Wed, but I also picked up FM5. I really haven’t kept up with the development of this game, cause I wasn’t planning on buying an X1 for some time. But I found a new X1 for $399, so I decided to pull the trigger and pick one up along with the game. Now, I know there’s less tracks and cars, but other than that, I really don’t know much. What are the biggest differences between the two, and what do you like/hate the most about FM5?

I can’t wait to start racing next week!

I miss the user-created lobbies the most. It was convenient to have a list of those for you to choose from, now they just have to make it a pain for whatever reason with private lobbies. Doesn’t make any sense to me.

Clubs were good too, but I think we’ll see that again in FM6.

The triggers give vibration feedback when you lose traction, the cars handle slightly different which takes some getting used to, the a.I is… Interesting.

The game is quite beautiful.

lack of content, but they made up for it with more bugs, crashes, lost game saves, controler disconnects, cant get into lobbies, ect…than all the other forzas combined.

read the board and see how many threads are complaints. and remember this is months after launch. and it seems to be getting worse not fixed. i would wait for fm6 and see if they actually start making quality again. if you want fm5 wait for a price drop or get it used off craigslist or amazon. its more of a buggy demo than full game. it seems forza 4 essentials was a test to see how much they could get away with.

You aren’t speaking for everyone. Since launch, my Forza game has home screened twice. That’s it. I had a slight issue with vip at launch. Other than that, NOTHING. It actually amazes me how many problems people are having. My Forza 5 experience has been 99% bug/problem free.

Really? I got home screened twice in 15 min last night. Good for you though.

Sorry to hear you are having problems. I am not though.

Just curious, is yours a day one xbox? What level are you? I have all the issues, sound, controller disconnects, and kicked to home. I’ve thought about sending in the xbox.

FM4 vs. FM5, upsides of each.

FM4: more cars/tracks, more expansive multiplayer options, Porsches (via DLC), Nordschleiffe.

FM5: Much better driving feel, more realistic a.i. (arguable, but I think so), superior graphics and sound. Animated suspension bits, open-wheel cars.

Yeah, the graphics are MUCH better. I was playing at a friends house, and he showed me one of his cars, and I had no idea he was even playing Forza at the time. I thought he was flipping through channels on his X1. I played it for about 5-10 min before I had to leave, but it felt good for what little time I had with it. I am bummed about the tracks and cars. More so about the tracks, I can actually live without all the cars, although, that would’ve been nice to have something close to FM4.

Oh well. I still have my 360 and FM4, so if I feel like playing it, I still can. And I had no idea about the rumbles in the triggers telling you that you lost traction. Very cool! I’ll look out for that on Tues.

Hugely improved graphics and physics, new engine, lighting, cars and tracks (maybe less, but new ones as well), Forzavista open to all cars, improved console and more powerful console, 1080p native, cloud save files, Drivatars (some may argue good or bad), better gameplay, new features (and less), greater detail, shall I go on? I can.

There are a ton of things that are different. Same premise, completely different game, still Forza feeling.

Not had a single crash to home or controller disconnect myself, 100% trouble free experience in fm5. I did have an issue with my x1 having sluggish performance, but that went once I turned instant on “off”. Not to mention that was just the x1 itself.

There may be less content but the tracks and cars look even more awesome, however you earn much less credits than in Fm4 and you may be inclined to spend real money if you arent willing to graft. Even the upgrades you can spend tokens lol…says alot tbh.

That is quite wrong to be fair, earning credits is easy in fm5. Rivals mode has good payouts just for hot lapping, you can use free run for custom length races, can do the same with a private online game with friends. Those are the best ways to earn credits. I currently have 22mill in game credits, and not once have I felt the need to even look at buying tokens. I can easily earn a mill in credit in am hour or so, the most expensive car is around 2 million in game credits.

I just looked up my package, and it’s apparently getting here a day early. It should be here in a few hours. Pretty cool!

Edit: double. Sorry

I’m excited for you and your package. It would be interesting to hear your first impressions etc also.

I’ve only had 3-4 races, but so far, I’m liking the game. The graphical update is astoundingly different, and I like the rumbles in the controller. The cars feel nice, and the AI seems to be a little bit tougher than FM4, but I haven’t raced enough to say for sure. One thing I don’t like are the menus. They seem to be slower, and a lot more convoluted for some reason. I also hate how every menu you go into, you have to hear the woman’s voice describe what it is for the first time.

But so far, I like it except the menus, which I’m sure I’ll get used to. I do like the background music in the menus(I turn music off in-game). Pretty soothing. Good stuff so far.

The menus are annoying I agree everything is tweaked to drag out the time spent doing everything bar racing.

To me, the big difference between F4 and F5 is that F5 is better. After I add all the pros and cons, the overriding factor is that the racing is better in F5.
