What the hell is up with the AI at Suzuka in the Prototype class? I know I must sound like a broken record but I had to restart 10 times before I got away from the pack enough to squeak out a 3rd. At one point I started driving like them and pitting and ramming everyone I could. This makes me not want to play anymore. It’s just frustrating when you get into a rhythm and some jerk takes you out. Is there a way to tame them down? Just a rant.
Nope.
Lower AI difficult or turn on “limit AI aggression”.
Short version: No.
Longer version: Some people have some luck setting Limit AI Aggression to either on or off. Opinions of which is better seem pretty evenly divided, so try them both out and see if either works for you. Personally I feel the setting just toggles them between “Stupid” and “Differently Stupid”, and does nothing to actually mitigate the problem. The AI in Forza is atrocious, and has been since the inception of the series. Until that changes (spoiler: it won’t), you either learn to deal with it or you look elsewhere for decent racing.
I think most racing games (console, don’t know about PC) struggle to have good AI, because majority of the console’s power goes into visuals first, then physics, sound, AI, etc. all the other stuff. Good AI requires a powerful CPU, not just coding gimmickry.

Maybe, but I suspect it has a lot more to do with the budget allocation/development focus than processing power. There were PS2 games that had better AI than FM7 does.
Even if you do have enough power, good AI still needs a lot of development work. I get the feeling developers overlook it a bit too much these days, because esports are the “cool” thing.

Right - I seriously miss the early SNES/Mega Drive and PS1/PS2/first Xbox days, when developers put in a lot of work into AI and quality single-player experiences/campaigns. Now it’s all about graphics and multiplayer.
Developers don’t focus on AI anymore because they believe online play adds more longevity and too an extent, it does.
The problem is, even if the AI are awesome, no ones going to touch career mode or free play because it’s not very well implemented and is missing features anyway.
Even though I dislike Codemasters and I’m not a huge fan of the annual release system of F1, their AI is probably the best I’ve seen in any racing game.
