AI behaviour

I don’t like racing online for various reasons.

When racing in a pack, you might as well treat them as hostile. I have been span out so, so many times by an AI just squeezing me off the road, or ploughing into me, and I am now just sick of this.

I have tried putting on Limit Aggression, but the AI still drive with no mirrors.

Is there anything more that can be done?

I found myself thinking about this same thing this weekend after having an AI veer off and try to shove me off the track. I think Limit Aggression is intended to nerf things like blocking and defending, or actual legitimate racing tactics. Not so much what most of us would consider “aggressive”, like shoving or trying to spin out the player car that make the AI almost as bad as a lobby.

Forza AI is probably the worst of all Racing sims. The only predictability is violent behavior. They drive as if I wasn’t on the on the track. And if I am they just power through you bashing you out of the way. Once the demolishion derby starts there’s no stopping it and I always come off second best. It’s redicoulous .

I have the same experience, it’s like the AI is not aware that you are there with them on the track and when they crash from the side into your car and the 2 vehicles get stuck, they don’t care about letting go. To be honest because of this I am happy about the Rewind feature. Also I have the feeling that rain is not affecting the driving physics of the AI. I have the AI set to “Average” to reduce my frustration and be able to catch up even when one of them rams me off.

Back when I played Forza Motorsport 3 I don’t remember the AI being as frustrating as in Forza Motorsport 7.

The game can’t seem to handle a full grid on some tracks, which is why I find myself reducing the field in Free Play.

I’ve also reduced the field to 12 in freeplay, 24 was just too insane at turn one on most tracks. I’ve also found that the pro setting for the AI is generally the best, but not perfect obviously. I think I have limited aggression on, but not sure. The trick is to anticipate that they probably will act like your not there. Hang back a bit going into turn one at the start, remember that the AI ALWAYS brakes way too early. Once you get settled in, follow the next car in line to see their tendencies before you attempt a pass, just like you would in any other race. I always run at least ten laps or more, so this strategy usually works well for me.

I agree with your assessment of hang back a bit and picking when and were to pass. The trick is having a race long enough to do that. Ten laps is usually enough on most tracks. Some you can get through and entire field in 2 to 3 laps sometimes more. It all depends on the track and cars running. If I don’t know the track that well it takes me longer to get through the field. And of course some tracks that first corner with 24 cars is always mayhem so you are better off holding back on those. I always keep the grid set at the max.

Last time I checked, AI had improved the way they drive, but they were still not aware of player position. So the drive way better than when the game was release, but drive as if the human player is not there.

The AI has is really bad compared to other games. People have complained about it sense release. Makes me wonder if F8 will be different.
