Just wanted to say that I am enjoying the game in career mode. I especially enjoy the extra long races. It’s nice to build and tweak a car (even homolgated) and spend some time really enjoying your handy work.
My experience with Multiplayer hasn’t been as positive, but I will hold out hope for some patches to get it all in order. I would really like to get into the leagues, but it’s just been too frustrating trying to actually get into a lobby. But that’s been beaten to death and not a deal breaker for me.
On a lighter note. I switched the Limit Aggression on, and I stopped beating my wife! (Jk. I don’t have a wife). I really can’t figure out whether it’s On or if it’s Off, but I am actually warming up to the AI. It’s a fairly good representation of my experience in Multiplayer, with a few random weird behaviors sprinkled in. I had a good 20 lap race earlier where one of the developers AI pitted me, LOL. It was a good race.
I’m still trying to learn my way in the game menu and have a few questions though.
. I haven’t found a way to search for all of someone’s tunes or designs . Do I have to do that for each car?
Will following a tuner/painter give me that access?
Is there a way to search all of my tunes in one place?
Or can I only search my own tunes by car too?
I found my designs, but it looks like every car I paint is stored again each time I apply it, resulting in multiple files of the exact same design, and only one of them the names file I saved. Should I delete those extras? If I leave them alone, will I max out?
I had it On and I was constantly getting hit and I thought there is no way I’m turning it to Off if this is what’s like when the AI is holding back.
I turned it to Off and there isnt a big difference but they do seem to behave better. I’m not sure if they were more aggressive with it On or if the AI was oblivious to me. With it Off it seems like if you dont do anything to them, they wont do anything to you.
I wonder if its got something to do with the Driveatar Difficulty setting. I have Limit Aggression “on”, and Driveater Difficulty at +20%. In career mode, I seem to get knocked off the track in the first half of the first lap no matter what. I’ve resigned myself to playing catchup from near the back of the pack for all races. I thought it would be even worse if I turn off Limit Aggression.
Limit Aggression ON the AI will hold the line as much as possible whether you are in the way or not. Turn on the full racing line and watch them Limit Aggression OFF they will stray from the line but are still out to get you as they have no concept of clean racing either way. In Career just put it on the difficulty level you can get by with and any you need to win ie Sebring 300 go LOW because the payout isn’t worth the grief of doing it again if you don’t place 3rd or above. I drove to China and back on that track. In Free Play practice on higher settings than you are using in Career. I find Unbeatable better than Pro because while the lead cars are faster it seems to spread the field over a bigger distance and if you get up in 4th or 5th unless you come unstuck there are 19-20 cars you won’t see again for the rest of the race. It does not matter where you place but pushes you to learn very quickly and when you go back to Career to run a few races you are better prepared.
I was about to make a topic about the AI, asking a straight up question, will they ever fix it?
I love Forza 7 as a racing game, it’s everything I wanted from a mix between arcade’ish and sim with the career, amount of cars etc. However, the AI can be infuriating. There is still 0 driver awareness on the AI’s behalf. Every race turns out identical. The first turn, coined 'Death Turn", is where you will inevitably get spun out, rammed off the track, or have your car otherwise destroyed from the AI flying into you at full speed. They do not acknowledge your existence. You can wait in the back and have everyone pass the first corner, but that means you’ll likely be dealing a front pack that tear off and create a massive gap that is nigh impossible to close on higher drivavatar difficulties. Or you can merge with the pack and suffer the above.
My biggest gripe here is that the AI receives no penalty in any way or form for doing this, you’re the only one suffering here. You can rammed off the track, and when you try to merge in again, good luck not getting rammed into outer space by the car train that also doesn’t acknowledge you exist. It’s incredibly frustrating.
Yesterday I was doing Formula 70’s which I absolutely love. 3rd race in Brandon’s Hatch, I was doing fine until the 11th lap where the 2nd guy caught up to me in the final turn. He drives next to me, following the Best Line, he locks his front wheels into mine without budging. He didn’t move an inch. The result, he drags me into the turn side ways and immediately auto corrects and speeds off. I dropped to 13th because of this 0-sportsmanship behaviour by the AI. Overtaking in turns is a death wish because it all depends if you end up on their Death Line or not. God be willing if you do, cause you’re going to end up off the track no matter what.
Come on guys, please redo the entire AI. Even NFS Shift 2 felt more dynamic. I remember Shift 2 had some pretty intense races where you would overtake in a wide turn and skip in front of the AI, who would immediately step the brakes as to not fly into you. I really wish Forza 7 would also have that …
Also, Limit Aggression ON or OFF seems to have a minimal impact on their behavior. It’s Destruction Derby disregarding setting.
Wow! I’m sorry to hear you’re having such a difficult time with the AI. I guess I am fortunate to have the AI acting like what I am used to experiencing online. I’ve had a bunch of really good races in career mode. I run mostly in 80%, but I’m struggling in Dubai and VIrginia, so I run 60% on those tracks when it’s a car above A class.
I have had some bumping and aggressive behavior, but never anything like a “Destruction Derby”. I know the first few turns can be rough on a few tracks, until everyone starts to settle in and separate. But, I also run mostly extra long races, because they give me time to actually race the AI and move up through the pack.
I’ve tried the Limit Aggression both ways, and I don’t notice any change.
I think FM7 career is the best career mode ever in a Forza Motorsport title. If they can get the Multiplayer working like career mode, and fix a few minor menu and leaderboard issues it will be the best iteration of the game, in my opinion. Yeah, there are things I miss from previous titles and things I would like to see added. But I learned a long time ago that I don’t always get what I want and need to make due with what is available. Even with the cost of Car Pass and VIP, I have already gotten my monies worth.
This game actually pays me! How? I stay home and enjoy Forza. That keeps me from spending money at the mall, the movies, and the bar. In FACT, I am certain that FM7 has kept me from pursuing another wife and all the costs involved with maintaining one of those. Not to mention the cost of a divorce lawyer and yada yada yada. It is not unreasonable to believe that Forza Motorsport has actually saved my life.
There are a few on here who know my real story, and how true the last sentence is.
Seriously, I hope things get better and more fun for you!
Limit agression is best turned to “off”. Not sure why.
You cannot view all of a painter’s designs in one place as in storefronts with ex. FM4. Same for tunes. Surely one of the things greatly missed.
Each car design has 2 files. One FM7 file and one your saved file. Keep both of them. Each time you save it to the car will update your FM7 file for that car. If you want the design with your own description etc, save it to design catalogue. If you then want to make changes, save it (overwrite) your original saved file.
You can only view all your tunes for the car you’re in. Same for the tunes of other players.
Thank you. I was hoping the search was just my being a little slow on the uptake.
I think I deleted some of the “Forza Livery” files. I have been selling cars with my design in the Auction House, and the files compounded each time I put the design on another car. But what you’re saying makes sense. My Design file isn’t assigned to an actual car, but each car seems to have a “Forza Livery” file associated to it.
The menus and leaderboards are one area where I wish they would update to be more user friendly.
I appreciate your response. Thanks.
