It May Just Be Me

The lack of the storefront is a major blow to the longevity of this game, but I think the lack of Custom Public Lobbies is the biggest culprit. I loved jumping into all different kinds of lobbies that had interesting settings. Tag was also a fun mode that isn’t nearly as fun in Forza 5.

I still enjoy this game, but don’t think it’s going to last nearly as long for me as Forza 4 did

I’m bored at waiting for Nordschleife

in bored of people asking for this track. IF the track returns, it will be laser scanned therefore alot narrower than FM4. Have fun racing round that in a public destruction derby/hopper.

I can appreciate why some people are getting bored. I was struggling for interest myself, till a big enough group of us got together to enable good, well populated private lobbies. As someone who plays the game mostly for the online racing, this for me is great. A lobby with 10+ like minded, clean racers and decent people is what makes the game for me. Having races with more laps, and mandatory pit stops is absolutely brilliant.

I do feel really sorry for the painters though. J used to enjoy scrolling the the painter/designer LBs on FM4, and checking out every bodies storefront. If I found a paint i liked, i would buy and race a car for that reason. The way its done now makes it so much harder to get recognised. It seems you must post on here for people to see your designs now.

Also, i believe another reason boredom may be setting in, is this is the FIFTH installment. People may be simply fed up with the game in general, as oppose to its lack of features. Having only played since FM4, this isn’t a problem for me.

Agree with you fully there Claret. So many people request the ring and in all honesty it does not make a good track to race on with mixed people. Usually its one lap in a hopper which means if one idiot ruins the race then that’s it. You are driving around for 8+ minutes on your own thanks to the Hummer driving tool who had his fun and quit. I have said time and time again I would prefer tracks which are standard size circuits that can be used in races. To have the Ring is a good thing…but a bad thing too. Great for hotlapping and organised comps…terrible in a hopper.

Also agree about the painting side. I used to like having a storefront as it was “mine”. It was like my Forza portfolio that people could browse and find cars and I could go and see others. So many times I saw a paint and then bought the car. It has led me to paint a lot less in FM5 and I have struggled to get back into it.

+1
From a painters perspective it´s FM5 kinda a let down. It´s hard to get a overview of all the cloud shared stuff and get noticed. The storefront was brilliant in that regard, I´m really sad of the fact it´s gone. Not only for sharing my stuff but for browsing for new designs and tunes, you could easily see all the shared files from the same person and T10 selects were really prominent at the first page.

And I also agree with PTG Claret, it is the fifth game in the series, and much is just same old. We have seen it before, well besides the improved physics and graphics.

ptg racing never gets old. there were racing game before forza and there will be after. its probably the longest living genera of video games. i can remember lines to play night driver and pole position back when pacman and space invaders we the big games of the time. its like golf, you can always try to beat yourself. as long as there are cars people will be wanting to race them. people will be playing racing games after our great great grandchildren have died of old age. maybe by then they’ll be racing hovercrafts or space ships…but they’ll be racing something.

Dan; to you I say I still want Nurbürgring GP ;). I agree with the lack of storefront issues but as long as their is a paint booth I will be happy. I have a list on my phone of cars to paint on my phone!

yet another thread getting a wish list for that thing… talk about getting old…

I have to say that is what is boring about this game to me, otherwise I still quite enjoy it

My complaint is i bought it with the realistic expectation that i could do all the things i could in the previous game from the off, & not also be duped into thinking certain things were possible in the livery editor when they were not by use of a bit of jiggery pokery marketing coupled with lack of real info. You were fed the basics then learned of the deficiencies once you’d handed your dough over…the ongoing bugs & glitches were an unwelcome extra i coudn’t be bothered dealing with anymore.
Still a fan of the franchise fella but this version wasn’t worth the money i laid out for it.

In what way were you duped ? They never promised the AH or car clubs or whatever else would return, people made assumptions and it was their choice to hand the dough over before they knew exactly what the game entailed. If they purchased the game that way then I would hope it was purchased with surplus funds and the cash spent wont be missed cause if they spent their mortgage funds on it or their kids dinner money then someone should slap some sense into them.

Ongoing bugs and glitches are a unwelcome but very real part of buying a system which is still in its infancy and considering every other console that’s launched in the last 10 years ? has had teething problems it would be a fair guess that the same thing would happen when this one launched especially considering the shenanigans which played out during the reveal phase of the launch.

What was the point of that post? He’s been around a long time, i’m sure he knows my opinion on this version of the franchise & doesn’t need yourself chirping in with a snydey comment in order to get a rise of ouf me which you know full well i’ll respond to.
If you’ve got a problem with my stance on something to do with the topic subject respond to me personally with something useful, otherwise it would just be pointless baiting, something i know you’re not fond of going off pasts posts you’ve deleted. Stop with the hypocrisy mate, its getting really old & blatantly obvious its personally motivated.

I don’t think duped is the right way to describe it. What I feel is it would of been nice to of seem more of what was coming rather than than all new stuff. Hearing all the talk of Drivatars, The cloud etc was all good and well but I feel we did not know any of the core structure that we have all taken for granted in the Forza franchise.

It was not until after release that things were not explained why or why they were not in and even then it was pretty vague. I feel T10 could of been a little more open about their product and hope the lesson has been learnt back in their marketing dept. We all know there is a lot missing and a fair share of issues Forza related or XB1 related but a little bit of communication to the fans would of been nice. We have a few community managers who do pop on but feel we do not get enough info at the time. Some simple answers to some quite trival questions like “Why do we no longer have lobby points?”, “Where is the distance meter? It was an option before December patch”.

Although I will add T10 seem to employ the “wait till the last minute” strategy which means it usually builds wonder and hope in the Forza fan base which is ultimately crushed when new stuff is announced. To this extent the community is to blame for getting their hopes up. This is where a lot of anger comes from when threads go up expecting ABC and they get XYZ instead. Launch the flurry of complaint threads for the next 2 weeks.

I have never (and im sure the mods have had their work cut out sorting them) seen so many threads of displeasure in the series and to see the lack of talk on these forums and in teams/dedicated Forza sites it is distressing. So something is wrong somewhere along the line.

Personally I still love Forza. I agree it is not what I expected and I sure miss a lot of items that are no longer in the game. One thing I feel is good is the content additions. I feel the car count and track count is pretty good now and never not have something to play around with. Whether they are old models or new I do not care to be honest. They all drive different now with the new Forza physics and look better too on the next gen so I have no issue. For now I will use Forza 5 with what it has and I am happy with it. I do not use it in anyway different to how I played the previous titles. But I will have higher hopes for FM6…we shall see.

Unfortunately for me, i’m in two minds about FM5.

On the one hand, its great fun. When things work out, it leads to me having more fun than i have ever had playing online solo on any other Forza game. Technically, what it has, it does to a level that most other Console racing games havent yet got to, with factors such as sound, design, physics, ect. As a racing game, i cant complain. Offline, well lets just not go there…

But, on the contrary, its the lack of community present here, and the awful ‘casual’ who inhabits the MP Hoppers that completely ruin online for me. As for the community, all the reasons i have will probably have been said already. A new system, people wont want to drop £400-500 on it whilst it is still ‘teething’, the changes to the infrastructure that we have become used to from FM2 onwards, it all culminates in a community that just isnt there. Give it some time, it may come back. And as for the hoppers, well, they are filled with people who really dont have racing etiquette. Smash, Bang, Crash, and win seems to be the way for the majority of people in the hoppers. I would hands down join a racing club/organisation for racing, but i have to many factors which get in the way for me. And the one factor which for me, makes FM5 the only game i can play, is my severely primitive internet connection. On a good evening, i can peak at 1.5mb up/.2 down. Online gaming is non existent, and means i can only just bear playing FM online. This lack of range for me means i am stuck to one game, and too much of a good thing becomes unpleasant.

All in all, there really isnt anything wrong with the game. It’s just because there has been such radical change, both to the game, and with the console, it’ll be quiet. But, hopefully, it’ll develop. Hopefully.

(PS - No Nurburgring. I’d rather see a track we haven’t seen ever in Forza such as Adelaide, Montreal, or Norisring. Maybe Hockenheim again)

Another opinion based thread where his opinion is trashed…i agree theres no soul in FM5

Fanboys are more detrementle to this franchise then any other…seeing as FM has no rival
Its the [Mod Edit - warning - masking words to get around the profanity filter will get you in trouble - DE] who love everything that has pulled the soul from the game.

Fans have opinions deal with it.

God i miss the community from FM2…what happend what changed

Turn 10 and Microsoft probably got a real boost in Forza 5 sales because it was one of the only games available with the Xbox One release, a good percentage of the first time car racing gamers probably don’t appreciate the privilege of being allowed to participate in “The Forza” and view the game as little more than an online demolition derby. They probably get a good laugh out of wrecking some snooty wannbe racerboy. The strictly censored forum policies have driven former users away in droves. Every thread has the same mod-in-waiting 8000 post members saying the same thing. I am not permitted to voice an opinion of the forum’s moderation policies, but the general message to the Forza user who is anything but a franchise bootlicker is if you have any sort of issue with the game(after you’ve paid for it, of course), shut up and go play another game.

Which is exactly what a lot of former Forza players are doing.

Couldn’t agree more and the Players that are still here … well a lot of them are only here cause it is the only “Good” racing game on the One and are only holding out until November …

[Mod Edit - “constructive criticisms and suggestions are welcome, provided they are directed to Turn 10 Administration via private e-mail, here: forzafb@microsoft.com” - MM]

Voicing opinions, constructive criticism etc is all good as far as Im concerned and have never had any guidance that threads that contain such should be shut down and hidden as so many people seem to think.

What annoys me, and I think other Mods as well (although Im only guessing) is people who complain on every thread they possibly can, criticise everything about the game but offer no suggestions on how things can be improved and even when they do want to offer suggestions they don’t want to do it in the correct place, they want to do it in their own thread so that everyone can fawn over them and tell them how clever they are. The problem with that though is it isn’t clever, not in the slightest because if T10 are going to make a change or are looking for suggestions on things they can change in this game or the next then they will look at the correct threads where they expect to find the information they are looking for.

Another thing that annoys me is the way people feel they have the right to say what they want in whatever fashion they see fit because they bought the game or because their government allows freedom of speech, this is not the case, it doesn’t say anywhere in the game, on the case or in the instructions that with the purchase of the game they have carte blanche to abuse T10s website, which is exactly what it is, it is not a free forum where you can say what you want, it is a privately owned and operated forum on which T10 allows you post at their discretion after you agree to abide by their rules and guidelines.
