It May Just Be Me

Hey Afro - It’s NOT just you!

But thank goodness for all the defenders of the realm who are ready to try and make you not only feel alone in your perceptions, but also are quick to point out that you have no right to lament the features of the forza franchise that are no longer with us. After, you should just be thankful for what you have.

There is a lot of stuff in this thread being stated as fact. In reality a lot of it is opinions and assumptions.

Just so I am not misunderstood I am not talking about peoples view on whether the game is still enjoyable or not.

I’ve already stated that I like the game, I’m just bore with it. I have no motivation whatsoever to play it, the min thing I enjoy doing is painting and tuning. And seeing as most of money came from my designs in the previous games, I don’t get a whole lot of it, so I don’t get to tune as much. Throw in a busy work schedule, and painting anything seems impossible. Especially with Dark Souls 2 taking up my weekends. This game just seems lacking, and half-assed to me. It’s my opinion, take it as that.

Why are people trying to argue an opinion? If it bores him then it bores him, nothing you say will change it so why fight? Afro, I agree with you and understand where your coming from… What you have to do is try to find something new that will keep your interest. Tuning/hot lapping got old really fast for me do to the facts that a lot of tracks and cars that I loved are now missing along with a lot of body parts. (Haven’t tuned anything in 3 or 4mo) So to keep my interest I slowly started to paint again and now the game is a lot more fun for me. I don’t think it will ever be as fun as FM2 but it will do for now. Maybe you should try racing or tuning?

Because some of them like rdo jump thread to thread to create arguments and stir the forum body. These ‘some of them’ need to knock it off.

Well a few of us do but only two of them are in this thread.

I can agree, the only fun I have is playing while I have company over still I play it quite often

Yep, bored as well.

I never get bored , I love racing games, only games I get bored with is football, so boooring, but that’s another story

You should be thankful for what you have.

It’s not just forza it’s all the games that have come out since launch. I honestly think we won’t start to see really great games until this fall. The console seems rushed, the games seem rushed but to see the evolution of things since launch has been really cool. I think when we look back in a year this will be a small blip on where gaming is heading…if not we all will be finding a new hobby.

Surely the OP is really mourning the passing of the Auction House and Storefront, which were fundamental outlets for those among us who got creative in the paint editor. I love racing online. It saves me a lot of money in the real world and is a lot safer. However one of the essential points of previous iterations of FM was the ability to sell my designs via the Auction House.

Yes there were the cheaters hackers etc. but at the end of the day we (that’s RIW Racing) sold thousands of turnkey cars. Yes we accepted there was the possibility of being hacked. At no time did anyone ask us (who literally spent thousands of hours working on paints, tuning and selling) if we wanted the Auction House gone. As a professional business man in a former life my instinct suggests the Auction House and Storefront were dispensed with because managing the issues it threw up cost money. Money T10 weren’t prepared to invest in their online community.

The fact that many painters are conspicuous by their absence tells you all you need to know. Your stats profile makes no reference to hours spent painting, although it does for tuning. The ability to search those designs that do exist is flawed.

Like most businesses T10 rarely give straight clear answers on issues where they could be shown in a less than gleaming light. It’s nothing new. Following some in depth market research I’m guessing T10 found that future profits were likely to come from conquest sales to players who were new to the franchise. This same.market research probably also indicated how these people were likely to play FM. Hence the move away from longer in-game races to a more ‘arcadey’ career format. Given that these new players have not seen many of the DLC cars which the rest of us have it must be no surprise about what the DLC content would contain.

Common sense says that any car scanned and modelled after the launch of FM3 would be created with the new xbone in mind. No credible business would scan the vehicle twice. Any car that appeared in FM4 auto vista was obviously already modelled for FM5.

While I still play FM5 most days my heart feels like a huge chunk is missing. Certainly for me the enjoyment has been impaired and I’m guessing this is the case for most painters. I optimistically continue clutching the straw that says T10 can still deliver.

They must be keeping all the info to themselves then. Because all i generally see is wild guesses yet I dont know as im not one of the two. Thats why im on here to get correct answers by the two that know.

People are mad idk why. A man is clearly stating his opinion that he’s bored. I’m very sure he thinks Forza 5 is a great game in its positive qualities but I personally agree with him that its boring. I was very entertained all the way through Forza 3 and 4 but its only been a couple months and Im already bored with 5 as well. Idk. My main quibble is that whenever suggestions are made the threads get locked instantly and told to go to the “WISHLIST” thread where very good suggestions get buried. Where is Turn10 by the way? We love you’re games and all, but all we want is a little more communication to us consumers.

I personally love the game. How can you not love the best racing game available right now. Physics, graphics etc. With that said, the multiplayer hopper is still the bottleneck to this awesome game. Once the players are able to create their own lobby and play with the whole online community, then it becomes the best racing game ever!

Personally I still get great enjoyment from the game. I like looking at the detail on the cars and the scenery it’s pretty awesome. I also like the way every car handles and reacts differently and I find it fun trying to master them all. I can understand why a lot of people are disappointed but for me, and this is just my opinion take it as you want, I look at it like this. FM5 is a new game with new features regardless of what was in FM4 this is completely new this is just my opinion remember but I don’t see how anything can be missing because this is the way it was built. So to me there is no such thing as “recycled cars” as they are all new to this game. If I find myself missing everything everyone else is I go back to playing FM4. But that’s just me and I’m sure my post will probably get bashed! Which is fine that’s the point of the forums to get ones thoughts and ideas across and it is good in a way it shows ones passion for the Forza brand.

I’m not bored with the game at all, in fact, I have more hours in FM5 than any other Forza. If I do become bored I’ll simply stop playing, rather than whingeing about it.

I have stopped playing it, I’m playing Dark Souls 2 at the moment, and I’ve just bought Child of Light too, so I’ll probably start putting chunk of time into that. As for whining, the only thing that I could possibly whine about in this game is the lack of a storefront and auction house. The driving, amazing. The visuals, amazing. Sound, amazing. Tuning and upgrading, could be better, but still great. Painting, not much point, other than painting just to paint. Which, don’t get me wrong, is great, but I enjoy being rewarded for it. I had over a thousand hours in the paint booth in the last game, and made hundreds of millions of credits from it, and this iteration I can barely stand to spend a half hour painting. This is what I truly enjoy about the Forza series, it allows you to express your creative side.

I’m sure these posts that go up probably won’t make any difference to future games, as good ole Greenawalt seems to not listen to any of our statements made on here, but it doesn’t hurt to try and make our voice heard. You see it as whining, I see it as criticism towards a game that had the potential to be the racing game of the decade, but instead fell flat. The main thing that made the Forza series great was the sense of community. We had a community like no other game. And where has it gone? I see hardly any veterans of the series on here, most of the painters from past series have disappeared, even the tuning garages are disappearing. It’s literally becoming every other racing game out there, except that it has the option to paint.

I’m not whining, or complaining, or criticizing just for the fun of it. I’m doing it becuase I want to see this series return to what made it great, and that’s a sense of community. Without a god community to drive a game forward, it will always fall short of greatness.

I think you have summed it up perfectly there,

Fair enough. At least you did something about it. Bear in mind that not everyone is all that concerned about the storefront and/or auction house (me included)
