Kind of new to sim racing, I have a Thrustmaster TMX Pro wheel/pedal set and an Xbox One console. I also have Dirt 4 and WRC 7 and both games allow me to map my wheel buttons and pedals any way I want, as well as adjust everything. Why can’t this be done in FH4? The only options I find are the preset wheel configurations and some basic adjustments. There doesn’t seem to be a way to custom map the buttons/pedals the way I want. All of the available preset wheel configurations in FH4 have the primary controls inverted/backwards for me (upshift/downshift levers, throttle/brake pedals, etc.). This game is literally unplayable to me without being able to custom map my wheel. Am I dumb and simply missing something, or is this really how limited the setup is for this game? Please help!
Hey,
i have had this issue aswell as 2 other threads i read on here. for a month. The customer support is so bad that i might aswell throw it away. I sent a reply ticket and made 2 forums, no reply. this game is unplayable without the wheel for me. I tried every way ( reset drivers, game, reinstalled game) to no avvail. wheel works fine on every other game so the most i get to forza is car mods on ETS2 or raceroom racing experience.
Thanks for the reply. Looks like I will not be playing this game. Too bad because I really like the concept, graphics, and variation in cars. So far, WRC 7 is the most user-friendly game I have for customizing the wheel settings. Dirt 4 is very good too. I wish I knew this before buying FH4, once you use a wheel that is dialed-in to your liking, you really can’t go back to using the basic controller and enjoy playing. Very disappointing, I will probably just give the game away, its useless to me unless I can map the wheel/pedals correctly…LAME!
Prepare yourself for the bad news. This game is focused on the controller based racing, not sim racing. It does give sim configurations that can be adjusted, but prepare to work out the nuances while you race. I own all the Forza games and a nice wheel pedal setup, the horizon series has always been pretty bad with a wheel. If your looking for remap control or any other type of control of how your wheel plays beyond it’s built-in config menu, try getting a xim Apex, Titan 2, or Cronus max plus. They all allow much better controller of how your controller input plays on screen. One caveat is that they also require a PC to use. Xim Apex is the best but needs to be hard wired through the PC running xim link. Cronus and Titan only need the PC for uploading the scripts to the device. If Your ability to control your input device is limited by the support you are spoon fed or have easy access to then these might not be for you. Otherwise The help is out there, it just takes time fine tuning it in game, on the wheel and through the controller translator you decide to use. It’s a lot of effort.
Having similar issues with my new G29 on PC.
Default G29 profile works ok but only has half the buttons mapped and it wont allow me to customize the profile. It lets me setup a custom wheel profile but then the force feedback doesn’t work. Expect control profile mapping to be a standard thing on the PC, am I missing something? Can’t believe there would be no way of doing this in game?
Looks like this is a known bug that is causing problems with force feedback not working for custom profiles on all wheels? (Only tested myself on G29)
See config file hack here, which temporarily fixes the problem. Unfortunately the config hack seems to get reverted every-time you you save the controller settings in game.
The above was posted over a month ago and still no patch! Is there a official bug report channel or is this it? Doesn’t seem to be listed in the known issues!
