Custom wheel configuration

I can set my wheels, shifter and pedals in custom config. It’s insisting I set things like camera controls as well. It I don’t, it won’t save and the wheel won’t work. I have no buttons to assign here. Most games allow the keyboard to be mapped. Here it will not. I have an Xbox one controller on the PC. I tried mapping the rest of the buttons but it will not allow that either.

Hello,

What wheel are you using? Can you take a screen shot of the button mapping and email it to forzafb@microsoft.com so we can take a look?

Thanks

I am using an accuforce direct drive…but it does not matter. There are REQUIRED mappings that make no sense for ANY wheel. The view change and camera mappings should be able to map to keyboard when using a wheel. I can take a picture of this later…but you can reproduce it by going on to the wheel config, changing to one of the customs and seeing the required mappings. There is an icon next to all required mappings.

I couldn’t map the gears of my Fanatec SQ Shifter 1.5

Sequential mode worked fine, but H-pattern could not be mapped.

PC, shifter connected via CSW v 2.5 base

Wheel and pedals work fine as well.

I have the same shifter and could map the gears fine…but I have the usb adapter.

Im getting a similar issue. Are your pedals inverted by any chance??

I have a G920 with inverted pedals on a rig i made myself and the only way i fixed this on FM7 was to swap the wires on the pedals themselves (far from ideal) Forza needs the option to run inverted pedals.

Im pretty confident the issue is that the game thinks the pedals are fully depressed the whole time you are trying to map the buttons. Because of that you cant actually press any buttons to map anything cause there are 3 inputs (the 3 pedals) already pressed. Just a theory but with my experiance with FM7 being a … its a reasonable guess.

I have the exact same issue, using a OSW/Wheel, HPP pedals and Thrustmaster shifter, the wheel, pedals and shifter are recognised and are fine. Custom config. requires additional bindings to wheel device and will not save.

I am having the same issue with the full game. I have a Fanatec CSW 2.5 with V3 pedals, they work in game with the canned profiles for the 2.5 but when I go to custom map my wheel because I want to have my Thrustmaster TH8A shifter work, the custom mapping will not save, it complains about needing more buttons bound. I do not have enough buttons on my wheel to map them all and the keyboard is not an option (annoyingly) so I connected a cheap old usb gamepad to finish mapping every dam button and then the save was allowed but it did not save correctly and it combined both wheel axis to one (why is this even an option?) and un-mapped half the buttons including all 7 gears and reverse that was mapped to my TH8A. I did this several times to try and have success and then gave up. So frustrating. I do not have these issues in any of my sims on PC, just Forza. Back to playing on controller. Very disappointing.

Nitro Glitter… Several people have also problems with axis binding…

I have an Thrustmaster TS-PC, Fanatec Clubsport Pedals V3 and the Thrustmaster TH8A Shifter.
Basically the wheel and its buttons is recognized.
In my case the pedals axis will be not saved after binding procedure.

Nitro Glitter - It is nothing to do with a specific wheel, when creating a Custom wheel setup certain useless functions for a wheel have to be assigned or it will not save the Configuration ie change Radio station. Why on earth have a Custom Setup hindered by having to useless functions assigned we do not want on the wheel.

A custom Setup should be just that, assign buttons to the functions we want. As it is now if you do not have a wheel with numerous buttons you are stuffed as it will not save setup as all the required assignments cannot be assigned a button. As all these Functions have a keyboard key in any case so seems totally stupid apart from if stuck on an Xbox.

Also if you set up a Custom layout, the on screen prompts bare no relation to the buttons you assigned.
I raised a ticket for this and reply was, it was that way by design. Designed by what a chimpanzee,
any game with on screen prompts uses the assignment you added in your setup not some random numbers that do not relate.

I made a quick reference card so I know what wheel button corresponds to the meaningless prompts.
