Is the paint scene dead?

Punny72 spot on, STOREFRONTS were awesome and definitely need to come back.
i agree its too hard now to find quality designs when everyone just gets the first recommended or turn10 select one they see regardless of what it looks like. definitely showcased the different designing talents when we had storefronts. one thing i know still irks me about the paint booth and forza in general is the lack of freedom on the cars, ie being able to have window banners, how the layers move on the car and how the car unfortunately warps them and being able to paint the in game carbon fibre body sections on cars like the corvette zr1. or the lack of color options like metallic finishes for layers etc.

I agree with most of what’s been said here, the painting scene isn’t like what it used to be in FM4. I enjoy painting, and I happily share my designs but for me painting is an selfish endeavor and I am at a point with FM7 and FM6 that I can’t paint anymore due to a lack of space. I keep getting “to many files type” error that won’t let me save any more designs.

In FM7 I in trying to collect all 700+cars but you can only have about 300 designs. I wish Forza would allow more saved paint files.

Hellyeah

It’s no longer fun, or rewarding to be active on the forums. I’m afraid the devs and forum mods have ran everyone off.

I used to love painting and sharing.

Hi,
i did some Liverys and downloaded a lot till i finished the forza cup. As i changed to free play and recogniced that the Drivatar Liverys r not working there a lot of enthusiasm was gone. Nowdays it takes 40 seconds up to 2 minutes to load a custom Livery and they r still not showing up in Freeplay. I use only the onboard cam, so i deleted almost all liverys. I am also not racing online because of the anarchy, so sadly the Liverys became pretty useless - as i am the only one who sees them and only in the car selection screen…

Since FM5 came out I’ve been pleading for a storefront again, and EVERY chance I get to say something about improvements for the game, I keep saying the storefront needs to come back. The problems are that there is no emphasis on community anymore. The storefront was the best thing we ever had for the community! You guys talk about forums being an obsolete resource and such, and I agree. Look at the popularity of things like instagram for photo sharing and advertising. The storefront really was just like that. ONE place for all designs, photos, tunes, and logos per user-- it’s an instagram page. Don’t take this in an attacking way-- I don’t mean to sound like that-- but I can’t believe some of you guys even give the slightest amount of credit to the current system. How does it make any sense to find designs the way we do right now? You have to be in the physical car to be able to find designs for it. You can’t find ANYTHING interesting that way! With the storefront I used to search for keywords and find amazing designs that would persuade me to buy cars for them! I’m an avid NASCAR fan and it is SO FRUSTRATING to not be able to search for designs across Chevy, Toyota, and Ford at the same time, or even to be able to just search for designs across all 3 of the same manufacturer. In Forza 4, I fell in love with the Jaguar XKRS GT car entirely because I downloaded it to drive an amazing design I found for it. I had no other reason to drive it, it was entirely based on the fact that I found the design first on the storefront as I was just going down the list of most downloaded designs. It makes no sense whatsoever to have the system the way it is now. Think about how it used to work-- you find an AMAZING design by someone and wanted to check out more of their work. You would go to their storefront and right in front of you is all the different designs and logos they made and you could mark them as one of your favorites and everything. It was SO convenient and helpful. Discovering painters, tuners, and forzatographers and true talent in the community is now an impossible mission because we don’t have the storefront. We don’t have a chance at having the community that we used to without it.

Okay, I need to go drink some water and calm down. I really hope to hear more about this and that T10 in their efforts to rework FM7 listens to us about the storefront.

Agreed, it is hard to comprehend how the same people could so drastically change a previously good system that they themselves designed. In the past you could search for ‘NASCAR’ or ‘Ridge Racer’ or whatever you are after, on ALL cars. And sort by most downloaded. Whose idea was it to change this?

One of the unintended (I assume) consequences of this move is that there isn’t much point for most of us in spending hours making liveries, because they will get few downloads once they disappear from the ‘new’ section shown to people when they buy a car. As there are so many cars in the game, the chances that someone would want YOUR particular livery on THAT car are tiny.

It isn’t that I care about getting CR for the liveries, I’ve made a few, got the achievement for 50k CR etc. - I didn’t do it for that. You can get 50k or 70k CR in ten minutes in a league race daily. I did it because other than for my own enjoyment, I thought others might like them. It gives something to the community. Surely Turn 10 would like to foster this attitude, as they USED to do up to Forza 4.

Even with all of the post-launch updates Forza Motorsport 7 has been getting, I don’t think we’ll see a centralised Storefront like we do in Forza Horizon 3 and Forza Horizon 4.

I think a lot of the glamour of the paint scene died when they got rid of individual storefronts like they did in fm4 where you could buy and sell tunes. Sure was a different time back then

Been too long for me to remember but i got started “painting” in fm3…for some odd reason beyond my memory i found fm4 more complicated.
I also find that the “special” colors can’t be used the same way back then, am i right ?
I enjoy playing with colors N shapes, not good like you guys but i try.
I guess you need to tube stuff ? twitch ? mixer? …IDK.

Hi all just wondering if there’s a willing painter to.do a racing car livery on a Porsche 911gt3 rs with a few sponsors which i do have permission to use

Forza Games are dead time to move on to new games lol. I entertain myself with cell phone games
