Hi all. Haven’t been on here in quite some time. I’m considering buying an Xbox One when the Titanfall Bundle release on the eleventh, and I’ve always had a deep appreciation for the Forza series Especially since GT6 isn’t fulling my needs. I was just wondering if it’s worth the money, and if there was a LCE or not. Thanks in advance.
I personally think it’s worth it, had the game since release day, it’s the only game I’ve bothered buying and I’m not bored of it yet.
I have gt6 still and forza is just hands down a better game imo. Definitely worth the 60 bux. I feel that its a game that really is worth 100 bux if you play the game there is so much to do in game compared to gt6 the rivals will make you a better driver and for me it kinda lets me know how bad im doing driving. Gt6 honestly no way to make the game harder single player without using really underpowered cars and trying to catch the ai at the end of the race. There is really just no push to make you better in gt6 imo. That being said less tracks and less cars. If you like gt6 you will enjoy this game and you can only play titanfall so long online lol.
Laser scan tracks do feel a little different compared to gt6 bathurst feels different towards the end seems like the track is longer on forza I haven’t compared lap times though.
Not the best forum to ask I’m afraid.
It’s like you going to a Toyota forum fan’s and ask if worths to buy a Toyota!!! O,o
In true terms of value for money I recently worked out that:-
Game cost - £49.99
VIP cost - £19.99
Car pass cost - £34.99
Hours played so far - 101 per in game profile stats…it feels like it’s been more.
(I may have some of these figures a little wrong as I’m working from memory but I think I’m there or thereabouts. I hav’nt included the cost of the Xbone as I was getting one anyway).
So thats just over £1 per hour so far in Forza 5.
I have completed all of the career series but still have a lot of playtime to get done in the rivals & multiplayer mode and expect my played time to increase in the future but perhaps not by a significant amount unless we get new tracks. I’m not a tuner and spend very little time in the paint shop.
I would’nt recommend the car pass as IMO the packs hav’nt been worth the cost so far but of course thats a subjective view point. I would recommend the VIP pack as although it’s not necessary it helps with attaining in game credits and there are a couple of good cars included but I suspect I could have got to where I am easily enough without it.
So IMO yes its good value for money if you already enjoy driving games but I do feel the game does need more content to increase it’s playable lifespan and although this may arrive in the future Turn 10 have not made any promises that I’m aware of.
Just as a quick comparison I did the same thing with Forza 4 and the cost per hour was about £0.21 per hour and that included the porche expansion pack and I’m only about 3 quarters through career mode.
You forgot the fee for online.
Ha haa … Well spotted … I suppose like the console though the online cost covers considerably more than just the game so of course I left it out on purpose…with that he lowers his head to disguise his shame and slowly leaves the room!!!
XBox One is far more than just a game console, you will find it’s an excellent next step toward becoming a staple component of a good home-entertainment system. We use it for lots of other TV/music content, and it’s our only Disc player. Media Center Extension is missing, but IE, Youtube, Netflix and alternatives are much improved. Support for add-on hardware is light (wheel selection still very limited) but external keyboard has just been added (I was really missing the qwerty thumbpads on our old 360 controllers).
Forza 5 is my most-played title; graphics are stunning, gameplay is great, I love the depth and breadth of its car inventory. It’s also the title I’ve spent the most on (day-one game, car pass, VIP, buncha tokens); at the time it seemed like a lot, but after 15K miles it doesn’t seem like a lot for the enjoyment and gameplay I’m getting. It’s written from the ground up to take advantage of the XBox One’s advanced graphics & compute engines; on a fast-refresh HD TV and solid 5.1 sound system it will really give you the most your home theater has to offer.
Ryse of Rome is fantastic eye candy, similarly coded to the XBox One platform, if you’re into slash-a-thon games. I’m playing it now, it’s fun, though even on a big Ryse day, Forza does at least equal time for me.
Titanfall is of course also coded for the XBox One, and is poised to drive a new wave of XBox One console deployments - as the upcoming bundle (and your interest) attest.
Assassins Creed 4 was the first title I played on the XBox One, have it for the 360 as well. The graphics are notably better on the XB1, on a title released for both consoles. But playing AC4, Ryse, Titanfall and Forza really shows up the difference between coding new for XB1 and porting from an older (or more generic) code base.
Forza is a great game! I pretty much just drift but its a shame theres a limited amount of tracks : / I’m beginning to fall asleep at the wheel!
No one can answer that question but you. No one can tell you if it is worth it to YOU.
I have no regrets, I love the Xbox One and Forza 5 has provided many, many hours of entertainment. Part of that is all in how you intend to play/enjoy the game. For me I have found the most fun by making some Friends/Rivals to compete against. (Yes, I’m looking at you Ghosty!) and you find yourself battling out rivals weekly, and especially monthly when the new VIP/Monthly Rivals come out. This is what keeps me playing and has me trying new cars/etc… You may find your own thing, or if you have one specific feature in mind, you may be totally disappointed and hate the game?
Forza 5 is a great game, does it have issues/complaints/disappointments, absolutely, every game does. I still feel it was worth $120 to me and that in the end there are few ways to get as many hours of entertainment for $120 as I have received from Forza 5. (Game + VIP + Season Pass).
Forza 5 is what keeps me playing Xbox One while my PS4 collects dust because there is not a single new/exciting game to play (Sorry not in to indie/budget games). Titanfall is only going to sweeten the deal and make me even more happy that I purchased an Xbox One. The beta was an absolute blast and there are definitely countless hours of fun to be had there (assuming you like FPS games).
Hey Afro! Nice to see you over this side of the forums! Ok, you know how much of a Forzaholic i am. which is why Forza 5 hurts. it’s missing so many features we had in previous games. half the number of cars and tracks. no gifting, no storefront, no auction house. no credits for paints or tunes unless you get 100 uses per day every day. its a hollow shell of its former glory.
All that sounds really negative, because it is. But there are upsides.
full 1080p means everything looks crisper. 3000 layers per side in paint editor means more freedom painting. video upload means no more waiting for encoding. Laser scanned tracks are more accurate. The new rumble triggers give tactile feedback for gas and brake when you’re losing traction.
On balance Forza 5 was definitely released too soon with too little.
If you can find it preowned then definitely get it. Or if you can get a deal in it like i did then again yes. At full price i would still recommend it if you can live with the points mentioned above. saying that hurts man, but its the truth. get avgoid deal and get it, full price then yes if you can live with the shortcomings.
Its a good game in its own right, but taking previous forzas into account, this one falls short. If you do get it ill look forward to seeing your drivatar bouncing across the track in front of me! lol
My two cents is that it is worth it. I bought the collector’s edition (includes VIP) and the car pass. Currently it’s my only Xbox One game. Considering how long Forza games last for me I’m not complaining. As mentioned above, there are definitely shortcomings and less content than previous titles. I look at Forza 5 as a foundation for future titles seeing how it was done from the ground up specifically for this new hardware. Now that they have the base the next game should (hopefully) have tons more content on top of it.
If you can afford it and have enjoyed past titles you’ll most likely enjoy this one. There may not be as much content but the game feels different with the new physics and controllers. If I could go back in time knowing what I do now, I would not change my purchase.
I have always been a playstation fan due to the GT series games. However GT6 for me was a huge disapointment, just seems like the excitement wasnt there from past games. I cant play 3rd person shooting games so I stick to race games, just traded my ps3 for an xbox one, picked up forza 5 on the way for the trade.
I can honestly say that I have that excitement back playing forza 5. The car packs didnt make me happy since its additional money to get certain cars up front, but it was my choice, I didnt have to make the purchase. Im already looking at some of the steering wheel options but damn are they expensive!
I do have “significant” track days and race laps on both two and four wheels and this game is the one to hold me over through the winter months.
Thanks guys, I was mainly just wanting to hear some opinions on the game. More or less just trying to convince myself to spend the money. I’ve enjoyed every Forza that’s been released, and I’m sure I’ll enjoy this one, even with it’s shortcomings. I’m sure I’ll get it when I get my One, and I look forward to seeing you all there.
@Mitchy, just give me a couple day to back into the swing of things and I’m sure I’ll be doing more than bouncing haha.
To me it’s absolutely worth it, make sure you buy the LCE version also. There are definitely things that I miss from F4, especially the clubs and the ability to share tunes etc. but with the updates this version is starting to get legs and I really like it. I have GT6 also and for a while I was starting to go back to it, but the updates, car packs, and Road America has really put GT6 on the back burner. To me, if all they had on the Xbox was the Forza series it would be worth the price of the console.
My view is… it depends.
If you’re already getting the XB1 for something else, and can find Fm5 cheap or are willing to wait for the price to drop some more then it is worth it. Unfortunately, i got the XB1 for FM5 and can honestly say it’s my most regretted purchase of 2013.
Granted the game isn’t terrible, there are good points particularly the rumble in the triggers which really does give you good feedback. But, the multiplayer system (particularly the rubbish party system which is admittedly improving from when the console came out) has just brought about a feeling of gaming isolation for me, and the fun factor has gone out of Forza. Single player is pretty poor too, the much vaunted drivatars seem to specialise in brake-checking, t-boning and side-swiping, even those of friends who I know always race clean. There are occasional good times, but to my mind FM5 is definitely the weakest installment of the franchise. To give an indication of how little I’ve enjoyed it, I’m currently on my 3rd longest Forza holiday since the start of FM1, the other two only being forced by moving house and a holiday to the other side of the world.
To answer your question about the Limited Collector’s Edition, yes there is one and I believe the Microsoft Store still has them in stock. It includes the VIP Pass but not the Car Pass. I’d say it’s worth getting the LCE if you just like having access to as many cars as possible but it only includes 5 extra car, which you still have to buy. Although being a VIP means you will be gifted some cars as well.
Also make sure you sign up for Forza Rewards if you haven’t so you can start your game with some free credits to help build your up garage early on.
Even though it’s limited compared to previous forza it’s beautiful and like crack I can hardly drag myself away.
