Is Forza 5 worth getting if you own Forza 6 UE?

Hi,

Apart from FH2, Forza 6 is my first game in the franchise and I’m really enjoying it so far. I know FM6 has more cars and tracks than FM5 but I wonder if FM5 is worth getting as a little extra on the side, it’s at reduced price now anyway… Is there a list somewhere of cars and tracks in FM5 that aren’t available in FM6 (yet)?

Is the singleplayer in FM5 any fun? In FM6 I found the career mode rather dull but showcase events were kinda cool (most of them).

Or is there anything in FM6 that’s more fun or better implemented in FM5?

Yes, Forza 5 in reality is a demo to it’s successor Forza 6. Most everything is a vast improvement from FM5 to FM6. The only reason I can honestly say you should get Forza 5 NOW is for Forza Rewards (ie, getting your tier up) but that’s about it.

Yes Forza rewards is also something I had in mind, it would boost my level from 6 to 7. Then again, for that alone it’s not really worth the trouble IMO. For multiplayer I’m not interested in it either, I prefer to stick with FM6 for that for sure. But maybe for extra cars, tracks or the singleplayer career/showcases it might be interesting.

Does Mantemax or someone have a spreadsheet of both FM5 and FM6 cars and could filter out which cars from FM5 are not represented in FM6?

Yes, he created a spreadsheet showing such. From what I recall almost every FM5 car is in FM6 when model year adjustments are considered.

All the FM5 tracks are in FM6.

There are no showcases in FM5 but some of the career includes showcase-type events. Career wasn’t all the memorable.

FM6 just polished up the FM5 mess.

Yes I assume it’s more or less the same as with FH2, I did play FH2 before FM6 and I also saw almost all cars from FH2 being copied over to FM6, biggest exception being RUF & Porsche but the latter will come over to FM6 in 2016 anyway. As for RUF, I assume T10 will leave that out as long as they have a partnership with Porsche. In the car segment I think basically FH2+FM5+some new cars = FM6 cars.

If FM5 doesn’t have much unique cars left, let aside a track, I think it’s indeed not worth the hassle.

Just don’t buy Forza 5.

Buy FM4 if it’s backwards compatible.

Buy FM5 for achievements or if you want to compete on forzastats (you need to be able to run top 100s though).

Agree with everyone else - FM5 just isn’t worth it unless you are running up stats or want to build your reward tier. Once I had FM6, really don’t go to FM5 anymore. In contrast, I still hit up FM4, FH2 and FH occasionally. I only go into FM5 to collect the rewards…'cause you never know.

I still enjoy playing Forza 5.

I never found it to be as disappointing as many others did.

Apart from a few cars, FM6 has everything FM5 has. Same engine, graphics etc.
So I sincerely wouldn’t recommend buying it. Instead buy a carpass if you haven’t already…

FM5 was more a prologue to FM6, a good one but just lacks in content…

well i got both forza5 & forza6, after getting in the grind with forza6 i must say its fantastically improved, from the UI, handling etc. Don’t get forza5 now, rather get some car packs or vip membership in forza6.

Well I will get everything in FM6 anyway, money isn’t really an issue since I’m 40 and single again (I think :p). So it’s not like I need to choose between FM5 or FM6.

Hmm one thing I was wondering, in the career mode in FM5, is it like FH2 or FM6?

In FH2 you don’t have to worry about upgrading your car, AI cars are matched to your own PI rating.
In FM6 you have to upgrade your car to the PI cap for a certain career race.

I really dislike the FM6 way since you are forced to upgrade your cars.

Which system is implemented in FM5?

In Forza 5 you do not have to upgrade your car, but you are warned that you may not be competitive. Opponents are not selected based on your PI, though.

Often I would take the warning as a challenge to see just how well I would do without any upgrades.

Now, a bit about older games. I started with Forza 4 and then went back and purchased Forza 1, 2 and 3 and completed most of the achievements in 2 and 3. I will say that for me each of the forza games 1 - 6 and both Horizons were an excellent value for money in their own right. I have enjoyed each game for what it is and have never felt like I did not get good value for money on any of the purchases.

Personally I prefer the Horizon series (all the free roam on real roads) and of the 2 I much prefer Horizon 1, even though the graphics in 2 were far superior. I found there to be too much emphasis on Forza Motorsport type racing in Horizon 2. I reallly enjoyed the Club 1000 series in Horizon 1.

If you’re an achievement hunter, then Forza 5 is worth getting. I’ve heard that it has relatively easy achievements, easier than Forza 6 at least.

Forza 5 was the low point in the series imo.

Here’s the thing about F5 - since there were less cars and tracks to model, you get higher detail. The tracks and cars look more detailed in F5 (not by a major margin though) and you will fall in love with the visceral engine audio. The overall audio design is more innovative IMO. You won’t regret the purchase and there will rarely be a moment when you play F5 with the sound down… oh those exhaust sounds… spot on! Really nice reverb and ambient effects too.

It is 100% worth it.

If you love Forza, buy all the previous Forza games. Best way to put it.

FM5 = FM6 without rain and night.

If you want achievements to increase your tier level for forza rewards then get it. If you’re not bothered about that kind of thing then I’d save the money. Forza 5 was the low point in the series in my opinion. Forza 6 is a big improvement on 5 but still a long way behind what 4 delivered which I think was the pinnacle of the series
