I’ve been playing Forza 3 and 4 for a while on the Xbox 360. Never been too good at it, but really enjoy the game!
Anyways, I just got the Xbox One and I was looking at Forza 5… very tempting…
I know that Forza Horizon 2 will be out pretty soon… I did try the demo and the graphics are nice, the weather seems to be well done and enjoyable. But honestly, I’m not too much into offroad racing…
So for those of you who played Forza 5 and probably try the Horizon 2 demo, strictly from a asphalt racing point of view, does it worth buying Forza 5, or I should wait and buy Horizon 2 and only play on asphalt race and don’t care about the offroad thing?
Also, Forza 5 has been out for a while (a year or so I think) … is there still a lot of people online that plays the games?
horizon is arcade you know and forza 5 is simulation.
it is worth it because the physics and graphic is great. i prefer forza 5 over horizon 2 because i am more the simulation player, horizon 2 should be fun but it’s not my genres.
If you like your circuit racing then get forza5, personally i dont think its as good as 3-4. But still good. And for horizon 2. Its entirely up to you. Too much like need for speed imo.
Agreed. If you can find FM5 for way less than $60 then you’ll be fine. Horizon 2 just seems terrible. Its not even up to par with the old school NFS games, but is probably the best “next gen” arcade style racer on the market.
Forza 5 is definitely worth buying especially if you enjoyed the previous installments. There are still a good amount of people playing online too. Even after Horizon 2 launches people will still be playing Forza 5 online including myself.
If you only have money for one game and must choose between Motorsport or Horizon it just depends on what type of game you prefer. Forza Motorsport is more simulation and precision circuit racing. Horizon is more arcade style driving in an open world setting.
This question forced me to think hard before replying. I am a Forza addict. In all honesty, I don’t find F5 to be fun. I can’t recommend purchasing it.
and here I was thinking of finally buying a xbox one and Forza 5. meh, guess i’l just stick to buying car parts, and if they have a sale on the system and game, ill buy both.
Hey Turbulance, been a while since I have seen you about. FM5 isn’t that bad to be fair, though it is still lacking certain things; but they have been posted plenty of times in the wishlists. For Racing, it is the same game it has always been. You either find a good clean hopper and find either a clean or dirty room, or race with friends in private. For drifting however, there are no searchable public user created rooms; so its an invite only affair for Tandem drifting. The drifting community has taken a massive dive since FM5 released for that very reason, but there are still a few of us around. The Physics can take a couple of days to adjust to compared to FM4 also, but the deadzones really need to be adjust asap. I can recommend the game, as I have had a fair amount of enjoyment out of it since launched last year. With racing anyway, I do wish I could get into a tandem drift room as easily as it was in FM4 though.
I agree with this. Ive been ham fisting around on default settings, just recently finding out that you can adjust this stuff. Didnt know you can do that in other Forzas as well. Just as a test to mess around and see the changes, I automatically ran a 1.5s quicker than my fastest all out, trying to get a fast lap… lap in the previous car.
And while probably all of the things I find wrong with it have probably been vocalized in the wishlists thread (needs more tracks and not just variations of those prepackaged with the game, more cars, ability to sell back parts/cars…) its still a good game. Not buying an xbox one just to play it game though. Better to find it used to than shell out the full price. If they gave it to you with all the stuff packed into like they did with Forza 4, then I could swallow paying full price.
I just got Xbox One and FM5 yesterday so I’m very interested to know all I can about what to look for in settings because the difference between FM4 and FM5 is like night and day so far. What are these dead zones you’re describing? Because to me a dead zone is when you transition from left to right and there’s a gap in the middle where there’s no steering or when you turn hard left or right and at the outer edges the wheel or controller goes into a dead area. I might not be describing the same thing as everyone else though.
To the original poster’s question, I waited until now to buy because of the original Kinect requirement that has now been dropped, the tracks that were added, and steering wheels, pedals, and shifters that are now available. I think it will be worth it once I get through these growing pains or trying to figure out how everything works.
depends on the price. for 30 i would buy it, for 60 no. the game is a year old in the usa and some of europe. in about 20 countries it just came out about a month ago so for alot of people its still a new game, there will be plenty of people buying it. horizon is a different animal. i dont play that one, its more of an arcade racer than a sim racer. dont expect the depth or content fm2 or fm4 had, fm5 has about half as many cars and credits are alot easier to earn. even freeplay now pays.
i race. i do tune because that effects racing. i have never gone into paint or photomode on any forza.
I was really enjoying FM5, just as much as 3 and 4. Although not many tracks, however what ruined everything for me was when I lost every car, my tokens and all affinity levels were reset to zero. shame as I’d paid a lot of my own money for those things.
I finally bought the game. I’m in Canada and it was 49$ on the store. So far, I’ve done around 15 races and I enjoy it. It’s been more than a year since I played Forza 4 so it’s kind of new
I did not buy the Xbox specific for this game, I bought it for NHL 15, so THAT IS a real breakdown!!
Anyways, I’ll get some experience and might see you online at some point.
jezza its that as well as triggers. and even on teh sticks its not only the center dead zone it has dead zones on both extream left and rights. if you watch telemetry it goes full throttle or full brake before you get to the triggers full range. decreasing the dead zones lets you be more precise.
and the kinnect is one of the best things about the one. controlling the tv just by telling it what to do, tell it to watch what ever channel, put up the tv guide, change the volume, etc… .if you misplace your remote its no big deal, just tell it what to do. if you are in the kitchen you can yell at the tv and control it, no need to walk in and grab the remote if you want to mute it for a phone call or change the channel. you dont have to stop what ever you were doing. hands free can be awesome. and if someone steals the xbox its going to be hard for the theif to claim they didn’t steal it when it recognises you and says Hello Your Name when it sees you.
I’ve done some tweaking here and there over the past few days. Watched some videos from Inside Sim Racing and it’s kind of helped a little bit but it’s still not where I would like it to be.
You should try Forza 5 and decide for yourself. But keep in mind, that it’s not Like Forza 4 with all that drivatar “technology”.
There is this absolutely degenerative game by EA, named like Real Racing (yes, for iPads) with absolutely the same AI problem. There is no traditional AI, there are dynamic overly-agressive ghost cars of your friends ramming each other and doing impossible lap times.
Right now I’ve got both 4 and 5 at 4 is absolutely peaceful single game. Of curse I’m new to the 5 and some tracks are unknown like Yacht Marina, but AI issue persists.
