Interesting idea for the Forza 7 gameplay experience...

I don’t spend much time on the forums, but I have noticed quite a few users having the same main issue that I have not just with Forza, but with Xbox and other games in general.

I’m talking about all the updates and downloads and patches and… you get the idea.

So this brings me back to my Xbox 360 days and simply DISCONNECTING the entire system from online features.
This (obviously) would stop the console and game from getting updates.
BUT
Would it feasibly “work”?

I have heard talk that the Xbox and its games need to be connected to the internet in order to be played.

Frankly, I cannot stand turning on my Xbox in order to see that I need a 40GB system update and a 35GB update
for Forza. I will spend almost 2 hours downloading just to get peeved and play for an hour or two (casual but steady Forza player)

So to sum up my idea; is anyone thinking of simply installing and disconnecting for this release or Forza? Or am I just crazy?
Also, does the console and game actually allow this, or will errors start popping up?

Interested to hear what you all think!

That’s simply false. When Microsoft first unveiled the Xbox One they proposed having the console require an internet ‘check-in’ every 24 hours in order to function, but they almost immediately reversed their stance on that.

Now you can use the Xbox One offline like any other system, obviously without any updates or Xbox Live features.

Interesting! I might just unplug from the online experience and connect when I have some spare time for updates ect, or if a new car pack comes out that I want. Not sure yet!

As noted above, the Xbox does not require an internet connection to install and play games. However SOME publishers coughUbisoftcoughcoughEAcough will lock large portions of the game behind stupid online services.

Updates and patches fix bugs and add new features. I personally welcome these things, even if they are a little large.

I’m also fairly biased, I have a 90 Mbit/s connection (which I bought specifically because I knew Xbox One games are freakin HUGE), so 40GB is not a long wait for me. That coupled with Xbox’s “Always On” feature means patches and updates are usually already installed by the time I get home from work

Who would listen to Ed Byrne of all people?

I have a 4MB DSL connection and no complaints whatsoever in regards to the updates and patches. These are good, as the game becomes more refined over the long run and certainly adds to its value and shelf life.

I game share so I don’t have a choice but to stay connected to Live. Even if I didn’t have to I still would because being offline causes issues. I still have 5 achievements from FH2 that still haven’t unlocked even though I’ve done what needed to be done all because I had no internet for a week. I also like knowing when I’ve beaten someones lap times on my friend’s list.

Was about to say tbis
Playing offline you wont get any achievements until you connect and then you also run the risk of these achievements never unlocking as has happened to many playing FH3 as well…for some reason they arent tracked so become unlockable unless you restart the whole game from scratch

My XBOne downloads updates while I’m not using it, so it’s rare that I sit down to play and have to wait for an update.
