Indycar inconsistent aero upgrades and PI in Free Play

Quality control missed this one. I just loaded up a 20 car Indycar freeplay race at Road America. I set PI at minimum 993 & maximum 994 for all cars. I enter the race & 8 of the Indycars are using the super speedway aero kit. The other 11 AI & I are using the correct road course aero kit. That needs to be changed with the next update. All cars are showing 993 PI in the pre race lobby, yet if you put on the super speedway aero kit, it drops the PI to 983. Why does T10 do this?? It’s downright maddening. On top of that, Indycars don’t hit speeds in excess of 200 MPH in real life, at Road America. Maybe they will come closer to that this year with the new hybrids, but I doubt it.

I wouldn’t say that its unplayable. They may have the incorrect aero model but they perform how they should based on the track they are on. And Indycars do hit 200+ mph in real life. It is said that they hit anywhere from 200 to 210 on mid ohio, which has 1 long straight that isnt even as long as road america’s straights.

I’ve been watching Indycar for 15 years, & Road America is the road course track with the highest speeds that I’ve seen. Not saying you’re wrong, just what I’ve seen & researched. They hit close to 190 give or take 5MPH with a draft & being on push to pass vs no draft & not using p2p. Luckily Fox is doing a better job of showing the telemetry than NBC was, so hopefully this year we’ll see the higher top speeds more often on the screen. Plus last year, the Road America race didn’t use the hybrids, where as it was debuted in the Mid-Ohio race. And as far as Indycar not being playable in free play, yes you’re right, you can still play it, but I have no interest in that until they fix the aero appearance. But that’s just me. I’m sure there’s others out there who don’t care one way or the other.

You’re probably right on the speeds and I went back and did some research to try and figure it out and at Mid-Ohio earlier this year they hit a max of 185 based on telemetry. But that being said they may hit 200 at Road America or they may not, we’ll just have to wait and see. But since the game has no option to activate the push to pass button, the game basically treats it as it is always on which is inaccurate. Maybe in the future we may get that feature but for now we don’t.

I’m guessing with push to pass & a draft they could get just under 200 MPH at Road America. Hopefully it won’t rain this year & we’ll see higher top speeds than before. And I think you’re right about the lack of a p2p button in Forza. It must treat it as if it’s always on.

In game it is said that they have 795 horsepower and that is what they are supposed to produce with the p2p so they most definitely have it treated like its always on.

Well there you go. Mystery solved. Cheers!

Just tried to run an Indy oval race last night, and despite limiting PI to 982-984 in an attempt to force the oval aero onto the AI cars, they all grid up with a PI of 985 on the standard road course aero.
