So I decided to setup a race to grind some credits today, IMS Oval set to 100 laps, IndyCar class cars. On lap 2 I started to notice that at the end of the back straight (just before turn 3) and on the front straight, shortly after the start/finish line, the car will suddenly lose 6-8mph, as if braking suddenly. My finger is nowhere near the brake (I’m using a controller), ABS, TCM, and STM are all set to OFF. If this were happening at random points along the track I would consider adjusting the braking dead zone on the controller, but I’m pretty sure this is not the issue. I have tried this in all four IndyCar class cars with the same results, and also tried one of the Porsche 919 Hybrid (and it didn’t exhibit this behaviour). Has anyone else experienced this issue or have suggestions on fixing it? I’m having to set the drivatar difficulty down to “Highly Skilled” or else the other cars fly past me when this happens and I have no chance of catching up.
Edit: I turned on telemetry, and when this happens, HP and Torque both drop to 0 for about a second. Throttle shows 100%, Clutch, Brake, and Handbrake all show 0%.

Okay, so maybe not a glitch but a poorly designed result of hitting top speed. I noticed this was happening about the time the car hit 239mph. I went into the tuning menu and noticed the top speed listed as 239.2mph. I adjusted the gearing a little and took the car for a test drive. I can now hit 240mph+ on the straight without this sudden drop in power. I’ve hit vMax in two cars in real life (admittedly not an IndyCar though) and it was nothing like what was happening in these cars with the stock tuning.
The exact same thing is happening to me with the stock Indycar tuning, as soon as as the car hits 239mph it seems to engine brake hard and immediately drops back to 232mph.
I hope that the Indycar ForzaRC rivals events going on at the minute make a few more people notice this glitch soon.
It isn’t a glitch at all. You’re hitting the rev limiter and in the cause of that the car looses Speed. When there is one to blame then it is the one who made this poor gearbox setting in standard tune. In Forza Motorsport 6 we had the same problem in V8 Supercars hitting the limiter in Bathurst. Curiously on the other hand there are some cars with transmissions being so long that you never hit the last gear.

As was mentioned, you’re hitting the rev limiter. If you watch any of the fastest guys replays, they have figured out about exactly when it will hit and back off the accel a little to prevent it from hitting the rev limiter.

It’s not a glitch, it’s the rev limiter.
(In case you didn’t catch that the first two times mentioned)
