Currently trying to do a championship race for modern supercars but the AI in first seems to be cheating in a way? It never seem to brake and even if it does it doesnt slow down much, (im doing the red stone mine scramble) they never slow down when they hit water and somehow is just ten times more quicker than me. i have used multiple cars for this race which include a ford gt, a Audi r8 v10 plus, a Ferrari 458 speciale, and a Nissan gt-r, all of which are upgraded to my personal preference but somehow this AI can still kick my [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] ;'(
Yeah, I noticed the water problem to. Really annoying. I usually race at unbeatable level and mostly win these races, but some of them with many or long water crossings are impossible for me to win. I generally rerace these at new racer level. I could probably win at a higher difficulty setting, but the frustration of completely destroying the AI in the first part of the race only to see them pass me (in similar cars) just before the finish line while I’m struggling in the water, results in a high risk of flying controllers which is not very desirable.
As for the other races, I started out with racing factory spec 60’s cars like the Camaro and Mustang. These cars are a lot easier to control than the hyped cars and I prefer a good fight with a high level AI in a car that’s more forgiving going sideways over a Pagani or Koenigsegg that will make me hug concrete every time I fully depress the accelerator or are a fraction of a second late hitting the brake. But this is of course a completely personal preference.
Oh, and since you can blueprint the races, you can always select the type of car you prefer. It’s always a challenge to race every type of car available, but if a certain class of car just isn’t your cup of tea, thanks to the blueprint, you can always select a different one.
They drive with a separate set of physics (speed boots, no momentum penalty in water, etc.) than players do, are overly aggressive, and literally cheat… go around check points with no penalty… And are the worst of all the Forza series (both Motorsport and Horizon) combined, IMO.
Unfortunately, T10 doesn’t acknowledge any of this, so don’t expect anything to change. Players are expected to “drive gud” like some of the other posters condescendingly tout… Instead of acknowledging the AI in this game is straight-up malfunctioning, cheating, broken, etc.
Another cheat of the AI is what I call “the wonder lap” . This where the AI on rare occasions when it’s not attached to you by the invisible elastic band does a last lap that’s at least 5 seconds better than what it had been doing in previous laps.
I notice the AI cheating as well, and while I am all for a good challenge I am NOT for the frustration of trying to beat something that is just cheating instead of skilled. There are often AI beating top leaderboard times in their best laps during races.
Choose your car carefully, considering the terrain you will encounter, track surface(s) and whether the track is twisty or open. The AI will ALWAYS dive in on the inside so hit the apex, defend your racing line and shut the door on those cheaters!
Been playing horizon on unbeatable and the drivatars are utter freaks. If they could do the times there doing without cheating id be happy to turn the drivatar level down but they have zero skill just a different set of phisics to me. It’s identical on fm6. There is no way these drivatar represent an accurate reflection of there human counterparts. It just seems like the hole group of drivatars are based on true skill and they are forced to finish in that order. For instance if I crash into first place and take the lead and they drop a place it isn’t long before they go back to 2nd. It’s all pre determined rubbish imo but I still have good races I don’t think it’s that important of an issue we just expect more as promised by the t10 media machine
There is severe rubber banding in this game that is more noticeable than in previous titles. It may have always been there, but FH3 really showcases the problem a lot more, for some reason?
This is my, and many others main bone of contention:
We don’t mind losing… IF it’s a fair race.
However, what we are seeing is blatant cheating by the AI, so why even both racing when the outcome is so stacked in their favor and / or scripted?
This is the real issue and it almost goes against the very reason for playing a racing game.
Yes, many of us can “beat the system”, but that doesn’t mean the system is good, or more importantly… FUN to compete against / play in.
Half of the races in FH3 are just not fun, IMO because they feel like they rely more on pure luck than skill to win.
For example, Off Road races with hundred feet jumps where if you land at the wrong angle, your SUV will roll over, no matter how hard you fight the controls. Rewind doesn’t help because most of the time it doesn’t rewind far enough to correct the acceleration, or angle of the jump, either. Also, you can land squarely on all four tires, but I’ve had AI literally land right in front of me, I slam into the back of them, lose momentum, yet they keep on going as if nothing happened. The AI will also push you off the road as well. It’s blatant examples like this that detract from the overall enjoyment this game is supposed to be presenting and is the main reason I have not bought Blizzard Mountain because I hear it’s worse than the base game because of the snow and ice conditions?
There are cars and classes where it is easy to beat them. S2 isn’t one of them as you go down in classes it becomes much easier and you still need to be on your game against a couple of your hired drivers. A class on down I’ve never had an issue with drivatars (though I’m fairly good and if I was it was Car choice)
That said: DEVs do need to fix difficulty so when you adjust difficulty setting it adjust difficulty settings in all drivatars. I be nice to get a higher difficulty setting. Unbeatable is too beatable.
