If been walking around with this idea for a while... Curious for you opinions!

Hi there forzafans,

During the time from the announcement of Forza 5 and launch date, there where a lot of
great ideas and requests out there. And a fairly large number of these where about night
and day racing, active weather and endurance racing.

And in my mind if been combining these for a while now. So here is what I came up with
and I think a lot of people will like it.

Hoping the next installment of forza will bring us, day and night environments and weather
scenarios. All ingredients will be mostly in place for a great Endurance racing option in the
game.

Endurance racing as we all know happens often for hours at a time and mostly 24 hours in
a single race. For this to be accurately simulated we would need day and night cycles.
But sure driving 24 hours straight by yourself is tiresome and to long. For this I came up
with to extra elements:

1st: Allowing to choose how long the day night-cycle should last. Since 2 hours is long enough
for most drivers you could select a a 12 or 24 hours. Which would be completed within 2 hours.
Want to race long let’s say 4, 6, 12 or even 24 hours? Fine, than you select the same option of 12
or 24 hours to cycle itself within the designated time. (except off course 24 hours which would be
24 hours without the option for a 12 hour cycle.)

2nd: racing for example 12 to 24 hours would be even better and more fun to do if you could
do stints or sets of driving. Handing over to a friend in lobby, drive-atar or just an hired AI like
in Forza 4. And notifying you on your smart glass or xbox home screen when it;s almost your turn
to drive.

The other part of the idea would be that damage is likely to happen during such an extend period
of time. And just like the real deal it’s important how you would go about mending your car in
such an event. And when you come in the pit the option should be given if you want to fill up
with fuel and change tires or if you want to a technical repair. In the latter you would be pulled in
to the box. Where you would see a chart with possible or recommended repairs. Also displayed
in this chart will be the duration of the repairs. Knowing how long it takes to get repairs or bolt
on new body parts. Since T10 is already visualizing people on track in Forza 5 in race preview.
This should be closer than you might think. Also a more elaborate pit crew animation will be
a welcome change to finish this idea. In box repairs of course aren’t simulated as this would be
impossible.

For weather there should of course be a difference available in compound for the tires. It is
near impossible to drive slicks in wet conditions like you might think. Also multi class would be
a welcome site to this idea.

So there it is, it’s quite a read I would agree but I think it’s worth your time. Let me know what you
think or maybe you would like to add something? Thanks!

What I think is that Turn 10 already has their ideas in terms of what time cycles and endurance racing will look like in Forza’s immediate future. That said, you are free to chime in at the already existing wish list thread.

i would rather a pause, save and resume later function where you could resume from the save point at your leisure for single player. you could take a month if you needed to to complete a 24 hour race. and where in the pits you could pass off control to another player for multiplayer.

by the way what you want for repairss is exactly how it worked in forza 1, it would tell you how much time each function/repair was going to take and you could decide if you could improve your lap times enough to make up for time lost. you could even select how much fuel to add if you wanted, dont need to waste time getting a full tank of fuel if its only a lap or two from the end of the race. i tried to build up a lead long enough i could pit for tires and fuel and still come out in 1st. your fastest laps were right before you ran out of fuel because an empty tank weighs the least. and yes less weight was faster even on worn tires unless you really abused them spinning the car or sliding sideways.

I had always been interested in the idea of being able to run a full 24 hour of Le Mans race. Multi-class racing, full 24 hour cycle with the weather being a possibility of changing to rain and fog (kind of like that episode of Top Gear UK where the fog took over and looked stunning in the 24 hour endurance race that they ran with the BMW).

Essentially have it setup to where you run the first 4 hour stint, then you pass it off to your Drivatar who runs the next 4 hours. You can either sit and watch, or skip to your stint. You can leave the game in between stints. So once you start a 4 hour stint up, you can pause if you wish but you can’t leave. Fuel consumption will be simulated, same goes for tire wear. Simulation damage can be turned on and off (engine, transmission damage, etc.) if desired.

There would also be other 24 hour races and 12 hour races like it, all the way down to 4 hours or whatever you want really. There could be 12 hours of Sebring, 24 Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta, etc.
