Ideas for New Leaderboards

Hey Everyone,

Was thinking about some things that would be cool to add for the leader-boards.

Mainly, add a leaderboard for club ranking based on win percentage or even average XP… The current ranking system is totally irrelevant.

Secondly, I think it would be cool to have leaderboards for the speed traps/zones & danger signs based on car class. The way it is now (and in Horizon 2), the fastest car wins period. I think it would be cool to have it broken up by class. As it is now, you’re not going to be breaking any records if you aren’t always driving around in an X class or very good S2. I think this would add a whole bunch more play-ability to the game, since I went through and set my fastest times with an X Class car I don’t even bother with the speed zones/traps or danger signs anymore but if they broke the leaderboards down by class I’d definitely go through them all again to give my best effort in each class.

Thoughts?

Average XP will net same results. Actually any leaderboard based on XP is irrelevant. All it shows is that they have played a lot. It’s the participation leaderboard lol.

The only club ranking that makes sense would be based on lap time, speed zones, drift zones, and jumps.

Speed trap, zones, and jumps via class sounds cool. I wouldn’t compete on those but I don’t see why that would be a bad idea.

I agree with you on the club ranking. I would prefer it be by average finishing position, lap time would be great but I don’t know how you could get it to work like that. I was suggesting Average XP because it would be a compromise between what’s there now and a metric that would somewhat show how good a club is. I have a small club but based on average XP we’d be right near the top, based on total XP (why is that the metric?) we’re like 3,000th. Can’t compete with thousand person clubs… XP is just such a stupid metric to track…

In FM4 the club leaderboard was based on total time. Every leaderboard for every class rolled up to one massive leaderboard. The lowest total time over every leaderboard was how #1 was determined. However the time was based on the fastest player on each team. So if you couldn’t beat your fastest teammate your time really didn’t matter.

This could still be implemented and work just fine for FH3 lap time leaderboards, drift board, speed boards, and jumps boards.

Using the FM4 compilation:

#1 team for lap times (both circuit and p2p) would be lowest time combined.
#1 drift team would be highest total drift score for all drift events. (Only highest score per member would count)
#1 speed trap team would be either average or total speed over all traps. (Only fastest speed per member would count)
#1 speed zones team (see above)
#1 danger zone team would be total distant covered for best team member.

Finish position is irrelevant. It doesnt prove much unless it’s like a head to head team battle kinda deal. XP also doesnt prove a team is any good. It’s just kinda there. My team has like 15 people and over 75 million XP without any effort to farm it. I saw another team of 1 person with around 70 million the other day. That team of 1 would have a better average than us simply because that player played a ton and obviously farmed XP.

We’re all arguing the same point I said, average XP would not be ideal but it would be better than what we have now. It would discourage people from adding club members just to add club members as adding newbies to their club would bring down their average XP. My suggestion of average finishing position would work though I think. Make it so the stat doesn’t track when the club is more than a certain percentage of the lobby. When I was suggesting it I was thinking along the lines of how often does someone in your club finish first in the race (maybe that’s the stat to track?). But if you wanted to make it more about club you could do something to average the whole club’s finishing position each race (of course, that would be weighted towards clubs of one member if they were a competent driver). I think your time suggestion is best, really I’m just hoping to get something better than what we have now which is 100% irrelevant as a form of ranking clubs based on skill.
