I'd like to applaud something - credit where credit is due

I’ve only just logged on to the forums for the first time, despite being a loooong time player and all I saw was a series of [Mod Edit -Hieronymus (Simulated profanity removed. Let’s use the word ‘complaining’ instead, shall we?)]. So I’ve decided to sprinkle some love at this game instead.
I’ve owned a bunch of the other games (as you’ll see from my Tier), I only play for silly fun by myself and with friends and not for tinkering with gear ratios or drag racing etc and find that this new Forza is sizing up to be my favourite for straight up enjoyment.

The main reason is the environment, Britain. It’s not just well realised but actually recognisable. Yes, it’s a squashed together highlights of the places that would otherwise be hundreds of miles apart yet it still feels like home to me. For my job and own enjoyment I’ve travelled around the real country a lot, more than many do. I know the real Broadway and the streets of Edinburgh etc and I know the way I wince when I see tourists in places that I think are a bit naff, I’m proud of my country but not blind to its shortcomings. I’m from the city, London, and this map, somehow, is the version of England and Scotland that I hold in my heart. The fact that I can now take utter joy from crashing through fields and fences without a care in the world is just a testament to the map design and how, when after playing it for a few days, and then driving through the countryside of West Sussex (a place not even implied in the FH4 world) it still gave me plenty of flashes of the reality that exists in this game and made me smile; the game and the world around me were blending as I drove.

So thank you to the developers for this one, thank you very much. I tip my hat to you all.
And I know we’re not encouraging drinking and driving but we really could have done with a few pubs about, every bloody village should have one!

And to those who have never been to the U.K, this isn’t a bad way to envisage it at all. The rolling hills here in this game, the light rain and the cosy roads are all well known to me and sometimes…

just sometimes…

It’s bleedin’ glorious.

Thank you.

I love these post. While everyone is saying the game is ruined because of emotes or this or that, they forget to enjoy the game for what it is, beautiful. I still like H3 more cause Australia is a dream place for me to go someday, but this game is more visually stunning.

To me when someone posts up something like…

THIS GAME IS UNPLAYABLE
then proceeds to explain how they did not win a race or some bug.

Instead of reporting it in the proper place, and making a video, sharing it with them in the proper place. This is the quickest and most effective way to get the game fixed.

When we/me/other use the term [Mod Edit - Hiieronymus (Profanity removed.,)], I know I am talking about the way it is delivered. Adding the incorrect title and what not to gain attention to it.

They described method is the best way to supply the devs with the info needed, it sorts it by all the info and gathers it together so they can see when and how it is happening, as the UNPLAYABLE post does not include any of the needed info to fix it.

Have recorded many bugs and shared with devs over the years, does nothing but betters the game for all and me.

As someone who has been playing games for over 3 decades, you would have hated how the updates and bugs were years ago, MS certs, and more.

As someone who has played almost every Forza and every racing game at that, I noticed that this is one of the best I have played so far, yes somethings can be better but its a fantastic game with unreal depth of inclusion, which to me is how you feel when you are playing. Do you feel like you are there? in the game? or do you hear everything around you in your surroundings.

I wouldn’t worry about all the complaining, sometimes it leads to positive changes and I really do hope the real fans who are complaining get what they want. Also, I’ve closely followed the launch of every Forza Horizon game and every single one had a bunch of people complaining at first. This also speaks to the high-profile nature of this game, we have come a very long way from FH1, this is now a blockbuster series rivaling, and even exceeding(depending on one’s preference) big shooter franchises such as Battlefield and the likes.

Yes I agree the environment is amazing, I love all the dense forest areas and the track design seems more refined overall compared to FH3, with more verticality and little changes in inclination. I have never been there but I’m looking forward to Winter in a few hours, I live in Canada so I can relate…and I cannot believe I am saying this, but I Am looking forward to coming across potholes… have not seen one yet and read an entire article about them the other day. Anyways, I am really enjoying FH4, more than FH3 and this is my favorite racer now easily. I actually like all the emotes and character stuff, it adds personality to the game and allows people to express themselves more and personally I think it is great.

Gentlemen, language, please.

Cheers for deleting my entire post with the quoted censored profanity, whilst others only get that one word edited out…

I’ve been plenty critical of this game since launch, but I agree with the sentiment of the original post. Despite the issues, the core game is solid and there’s lots of silly fun to be had driving and exploring. Right now I’m role playing my avatar as someone akin to Richard Hammond in that episode of the Grand Tour where he drove a Dodge Challenger Hellcat through Italy. Got my cowboy hat and cowboy getup from the wheelspins so I figured, why not roleplay the part since we have more American trucks/SUVs and muscle in the game than we do RHD British cars.

That doesn’t mean I won’t stop posting my ideas on what things I don’t like about the game and how I feel they could be improved. I understand that just complaining generally doesn’t help things, but constructive criticism on the areas of the game that aren’t as good does let the devs know where they need to focus their attention to further improve the game.

The map looks copied and pasted as their is nothing really distinct no matter where you are in the map. Most of the map is useless space.

FH3 went from jungle to desert. FH4 went from farm lands to forest.

They also could’ve just used a randomized brush to place bushes and trees and refined it later.

With the amount of budget this game gets, its actually bad compared to your mobile free game you might find on the app store.

As someone who grew up in England and spent the last 10 years living in Australia, I can say both maps capture the essence of their respective country very well. Australia is definitely more varied, but it’s a huge place, with wildly different landscapes. England/GB landscape is no where near as varied it’s largely rolling hills, country side, farmland etc, and the map reflects that.

There is also the fact that this game has 4 separate season, 2 of which we have yet to fully experience. This adds more variety to the game surely.

YOU WIN!!!

Worst, most unsubstantiated post so far in this forum.

Most of the real world is also empty space with nothing in it. And, even worse (for you) a whooooooole lot of it looks exacly the same

You must mean Ohio!

Definitely the best map in the series. Recognizable places or not, the road are amazing to drive. Best dirt and cross country races too.

I’m also new to the forums, and I know most of my posts have been negative, talking about things that are wrong or need fixing. But that doesn’t mean I hate the game. Trust me, if I hated the game, I wouldn’t be wasting my time here on the forums soapboxing. I would just move on. I’m here because the game is stunning. The core gameplay, the driving, the world, the cars, the graphics and effects, they constantly floor me.

When something is so close to perfect, everything wrong with it is amplified. It’s agonizing when a game like this is bogged down by egregiously bad game design choices with some seemingly (from my admittedly uneducated perspective) simple fixes.

I only complain because I love. If I hated it I wouldn’t be here.

Good post though OP. Glad to see they nailed the area they are going for. IMO, Australia had more visual “wow” areas, but Britain is a better drive and has a more subtle beauty to it. Edinburgh is my personal highlight, I am all about the urban racing, and I cannot wait for that route creator so I can build a whole bunch of races winding through the underpasses, around the roundabouts, and up and down all the winding bits.
