I’m just wondering whereabouts some of the places shown in the trailer are. Up to now, I’ve recognised Princes Street in Edinburgh and Glenfinnan Viaduct in the Highlands (or at least, I think that’s right). Given that both Scotland and England have been mentioned in the E3 presentation, I’m guessing the map will stretch out from the Highlands to The Lake District. But that’s just a guess…
If anyone can shed more light on some of the other locations in the trailer or elsewhere, I’d appreciate it.

From watching the trailer the roads seem to look the same as Forza Horizon 3 and I have a feeling the map in FH4 will be almost exactly the same layout as FH3 almost like a copy and paste with maybe a few extra roads added in and a different scenery. The fact that the map will be no bigger than FH3 makes me further believe this. Please tell me I am wrong
I’ll be interested in the shape of the map when zoomed out. Although Australia is far bigger than Britain in real life I can’t see the FH4 one being smaller, same size or bigger I’m expecting.
How could you possibly glean anything about the map by just seeing a handful of cars on a few roads or bounding down a few hills? That is one crazy assumption. And makes absolutely no sense at all.
Ok, so we are not getting the whole of the UK…only a portion of it.
We are getting a not-to-scale-topographical representation of part of Scotland, Lake District, Cotswolds, and welsh mountains.
Are we going to be able to drive round the map in 15 minutes , like we can in FH3 ? As great as FH3 is, one of its major criticisms could be the map size.
FH4 is boasting an online map populated by EVERYONE IN THE WORLD…this could mean thousands of people at the same time…on a small map, that is gonna be like gridlocked traffic. THE CREW got around that issue by having the WHOLE of the u s of a as it’s map… I.e. HUGE MAP.
THE CREW uses the whole of the USA and it takes 3 or 4 hours to drive round it. It has many many cities and landmarks and is great because of it.
Wouldn’t the Goliath race be great if it was lands end to John o groats…or at least, London to Edinburgh ??? In fact, it would be great to even have london in the game. So far, the only urban area is Edinburgh. No Manchester, no Liverpool.
Please please please , is it a big map? I suspect it is not.
Apparently the FH4 map size will be the same, or similar to FH3’s.
Personally I don’t mind - with a 2 year timeframe to build a game like this, there’s only so much they can do to retain the quality of the environment. Plus I thought FH3’s map size was pretty good.
I’m just concerned about how much of this verticality is covered in dirt paths versus how much of it is actually paved roads. A nice paved mountain pass would make this game worth the purchase alone. I’ll be quite upset if it’s the former tho.
A real shame to hear it will be only about the size of FH3’s map, but at least they aren’t claiming it is 6x as big and then making it smaller than the previous game’s map - that is definitely a step up.
The main thing to see is going to be if they waste most of the space as with FH3’s map, or if they use it well as with FH2’s. That they are relying on season changes to give the impression of more content makes it far less interesting than if they had mountains we could drive to, as they could have done with Blizzard Mountain but did not bother to. I very much hope they have a proper long motorway system like FH2’s map, as the tiny bit of highway in 3 was amazingly underwhelming, and so much space was lost to unused and uninteresting bits of rainforest and sand. At least we can choose what we use now with proper race creation, but still, hopefully we do not see so much superfluous stuff … and hopefully way bigger city areas than Surfers!
These Mini Maps were always a really sad thing in Forza History. Because it’s Spring, Summer or whatever does not change the experience (ok, snow does) or the size of the map.
At least give us some racing like Kelekole Pass in TDU.
Forza Horizon franchise is reeealy great, but i wish they would give the players a huge map, and not these 5 minutes map. Maybe in FH5 then…
It has been done before such as the map in Far Cry 4 and 5 and by looking at certain other forums it seems like I’m not the only one who thinks it looks copied, i suppose we’ll have to wait and see. I hope I’m wrong though
