I’ve read several threads now of people reaching their limit and not being able to save anymore paints / liveries. I also like to support my fellow painters by showing off their work on the cars I drive. So, concerned about reaching that ceiling myself, I decided to do a little testing and I found a way to make room.
DISCLAIMER – DO NOT ATTEMPT on your HE’s or rare cars like the RX-7 as you risk losing them
All you need to do is auction the car that is carrying the paint.
Set the auction for 1 hour and both the starting price and buyout as high as you can go.
Assuming that no one bids, the paint and tune become locked to the car when you reclaim it after the auction.
Now you can delete the saved paint from your library without losing it from the car.
Yes, you risk someone buying the car. This is why I don’t recommend doing this for HE’s and other rare cars. But for the run-of-the-mill cars, 1) the paint and tune are still in your library and 2) there’s a good chance that your earnings from the auction exceed the autoshow price. So you can just build a new one and you’ve made a small profit.
This can also be beneficial for painters who have the same basic livery applied to multiple cars. If that livery is being downloaded by the tens or hundreds on a popular car but is barely selling on a not-so-popular car, auction your copy of the unpopular car and delete that design.
I know this plan has its flaws, but it should clear at least a little room. After the first few tests earlier this week, I just really started last night and I’ve already gained 30+ slots in my library.
