I don’t understand why the developers dont nerf cars. Better yet take race cars/cars out of S class. Online multiplayer and rivals is dominated by the same 5 cars. Rendering pretty much every other car pointless to race. These meta cars need a nerf in S class. Porsche GT1 97, 97 Mclaren F1 GT, Lola, GT40 and the Chaparral all need to be balanced.
Add the Shelby Monaco to that list too.
I hope they don’t nerf any cars and just nail their real life characteristics, making them perform just like they do IRL.
There will always be a fastest car.
Or, in this case, 6 fastest cars that OP mentioned.
S class is fairly well balanced. Wait until you try R, P or X class.
Balanced between the meta stuff, somewhat.
The pace difference between these and other S-Class cars (modern supercars, hypercars or muscles) is completely off the chart though.
I will never understand why some crappy chassis from the 60s/70s should have significantly better handling than modern supercars.
Let them have their insane acceleration but bring the grip down to balance it out.
The Brabham BT8 shows how it should be.
Yes, I mean fairly well balanced for Forza. You can at least drive things like the 16 350R, F40, 95 GT2 and have a reasonable chance against an average driver in meta. Obviously, you’ve got very little chance in most modern cars.
If you go up to R, the 3/4 meta cars probably have 3 seconds a lap on most tracks which is usually too much to cover through better driving. In P and X, they are more or less one car lobbies.
I don’t disagree that better balancing, particularly of modern cars, is necessary across the board. Just seems odd to single out S class, which is one (with A) where there is probably the greatest range of cars to have some chance of being competitive.
I can only assume that the OP doesn’t play R, P & X which wouldn’t be a surprise given B, A & S have always been the most popular ones.
The Elemental and CanAms shifted the meta quite a bit because the 911 GT1 has weaknesses. The CanAms don’t. They are top notch everywhere while being ultra easy to drive.
The Chaparral does 2:00s on Suzuka, the average supercar is a good 4 seconds/lap slower. It’s closer to the average R pace than to the average S pace.
While I like ballast it caused stuff like this.
Before the 4x wear change B class was the best one and still is at medium length. Countless builds that can achieve competitive times.
I don’t think they should nerf cars, but having a review of their PI would probably be a good idea.
Chap is rarely used in S class. I can only assume it’s either relatively unknown how strong it is or no good tunes are shared. I’ve done a lot of open races this week and I don’t think I’ve seen it once. Same with the other Can Ams. Possibly, if those start to be used more, it will feel more like R class. Currently, it’s mainly Monacos and the odd Elemental which are the most common cars to see.
Looking at the top rivals times, the 17 Camaro, 92 NSX, 13 Viper, 350R, S7, Diablo GTR, F50 and #15 Mustang all have times under 2.01. Sure, that doesn’t cover any modern supercars (which I completely agree are over PIed) but it gives you a number of options to compete with the average player running a Chap (who would probably be two seconds off your speed anyway). Notably there isn’t a Chap time under 2.03 in rivals which probably explains why it’s seldom used online (if that’s also representative of other tracks).
Considering the Chap does it on sports while these are on softs shows its true power.
Haven’t done much Open since the 4x wear change but in Multi-Class the McLaren CanAm is very common and would decimate every race tires build. Which is probably the reason it’s used there more often.
It’s really only the sports Elemental and my engine glitched streets Ultima that can rival them.
Yeah, the fact you can use softs in open is probably what stops people using them then. I was forgetting about multi as it generally isn’t a good standard and I haven’t raced it for a while.
You write that under every post that complains about car balancing. How would you approach this issue? No balancing at all? I think everybody with a brain knows that a perfect balancing is most likely not achievable but it’s a huge difference if the fastest car is 5 seconds ahead or 5 tenths.
Yes the B class at 6x was by the far the most fun I’ve had in MP.
A fundamental rewrite of the PI system is needed, so that cars at the same PI have the same pace across all scenarios.
They do in Turn 10’s AI-based lookup table on their hypothetical test track, but not when actual humans drive and tune these cars to their full potential.
I feel it’s more appropriate to resolve the core issue rather than repeatedly target the surface level side effects of said issue. That ends up like a game of whack-a-mole.
Maybe get rid of PI entirely, have everything dictated by power to weight ratios, tyre compounds and stricter power/weight limits. Most of the Spec Series in Featured Multiplayer have better car balancing than the Open Series, due to the tighter rules. Maybe get rid of open series entirely and leave it only be a Rivals/Private thing, lean harder into spec series and balance them more often.
If the best tactic in a game is outlawed, the game becomes a battle of the second best tactic, at which point complaints will continue from those not using said second-best tactic asking for it to be removed also. Rinse and repeat.
I’m sure you know this, but that’s actually impossible with the variety of potential builds even within the same vehicle.
For example, building a vehicle with an emphasis on handling will make it fast at Lime Rock, slow at the Daytona Tri-Oval. Conversely, building the same vehicle with an emphasis on power will make it slow at Lime Rock, fast at Daytona.
Can-am cars are op because of the amount of fuel these can take in, making OPEN races lock to 100% fuel would definitely nerf lot of op cars like can-am cars, renault f1, Ferrari F1(p class)
2nd thing that would nerf 911 gt1 and McLaren F1 gt, and mostly p550, and other meta cars, would be making hard rpm cap in point where redline starts (no redline abuse)
Another thing is tyre wear where light cars have significant advantage in S class and higher, so… X1 tyre wear would fix this. (Soft compound)
It seems like it might require many more PI classes (much of the alphabet) to get closer performance among cars with the same PI, which would then greatly shrink the list of eligible cars for single-class events.
Because this series has always had a poorly-balanced Performance Index, I view open-class multiplayer racing as a free-for-all with very loose BoP where meta cars are somewhat of an equalizer/compensator for those who might otherwise fall far behind.
When meta-car-driving players barely manage to win against non-meta cars, it suggests to me that they would be at the back of the pack if they were in non-meta cars.
When meta-car-driving players lose against non-meta cars, it suggests to me that they might be very casual and/or relatively new players.
When meta-car-driving players win by huge gaps against non-meta cars, it suggests to me that they might have some skill but they’re not seeking challenge - and I’ll sometimes whip out a meta car myself just to try to make them at least drive with both hands if they want to win.
I just ran all 3 CanAms (Nissan, McLaren, Chaparral) at the Nordschleife.
Nissan 6:42.137
McLaren 6:41.369
Chaparral 6:40.909
That would be a top 15ish time on sports tires.
Given that the Chap has the lowest top speed and worst power/weight ratio of the 3 which are crucial stats for the Nordschleife shows how far ahead its handling is.
To put these times in perspective: that’s 10 to 15 seconds faster than most modern supercars on sports.
