I agree with you. Ive never done playground games in the past and I don’t want to start now so online road trip is out of the question. I too preferred Horizon 1 MP because it was quick and simple. Everyone votes for car class and you pick your car and do the race. For those that did want to do playground games, those were there too if I remember correctly but they were in their own specific lobby.
All I want to do is race but the online free roam is kind of a mess because it’s hard to get any kind of organization together when trying to start a race. Usually only 1 to 3 people join while everyone else is screwing around.
I don’t think they should ditch the setup they have now because I’m sure many people will and do like it but a proper lobby system would have been nice to have as well. The way it is in FM5 runs smoothly, pick what class lobby you want to race in and then everyone votes for the track before each race. IMO that’s just a better more organized way of doing things.
I’m with you guys on this one would love to see custom lobbies come back. I miss the cruise lobbies or all muscle car lobbies or the cruise and park lobbies. I would love to see a lobby full of mercs oe mercs and 57 chevys.
Turn 10 is doing so much to get you to get more friends on your friends list. I wish Turn 10 would stop that, and just let us wishlist alert, not sharing.
Agreed. This game is perfect besides just that, and it wont last as long as fh1 without the lobbies i belive. At least more track info. Whats the reason with fine tuning and building up a splendid garage, when u only have like 15 seconds to choose a car for 4mixed races you don know which ones goin to be. I havent spent much time online yet, but sofar-stupid.
I couldn’t agree more. If I didn’t play with my friends I’d honestly already be quite bored with the game. It’s just that, you join a game of king (which in my opinion having class with that high of a performance index is over-powered and no fun, I much preferred the A class in FM4 and FH1) and then after you’ve finished you’re in free roam again, and you have to wait until you or someone else sets up an event again.
What was the matter with lobbies? They were so efficient in my opinion. Personally I loved the playground because the events were always cycling through 3 different game modes… (PS. What happened to cat and mouse!!!). I also loved playing the circuit hopper, it used to be balanced (same car/track lobbies).
They’ve improved so much from the first game, I don’t understand why they had to implement a totally different and in my opinion un-inviting multiplayer system when the original one was great and needed minor improvements…
While I’ve only played a couple times online, I like the fact that you drive from one event to the next, but don’t like how XP is involved in winning. A person can win every event and still come in second. That’s really my only gripe about the system in place. It would be nice to be able to create private lobbies/road trips though.
Playground lobbies need to be implemented. People are always going to crash into you in races which makes them no fun online. There needs to be a way to only do playground modes as that is all that online is good for. (also what happened to cat and mouse?)
Forza horizon 2 is an epic failure because of this. Lobbies are what made horizon 1 so great and replayable. I havent found a single event for drifting online yet and drag racing is getting old. thats the only thing holding this game back from being perfect…
I cannot think of a single reason why this system is better. Everything I can do with this, I could do much more easily with lobbies.
It isn’t good for racing, it isn’t good for playground games, it isn’t good for bucket list challenges, and it isn’t good for freeroam.
Driving around alone while seven out of the ten people in the game are driving up and down a runway (and the other two are in the garage) gets boring almost immediately.
The only reason I go online in this game is to make the Drivatars go away.
What’s almost as upsetting as not having lobbies in multiplayer is the fact the no one in the know will ever respond to a thread like this and let us know if it’s even something that’s pissible to add or in the works for later. I commented on several similar threads for F5 that asked about the possibility of adding custom public lobbies like we’re in F4 to the game, and while there were always tons of replies from players who felt the same no one from T10 ever shed any light on the issue, even to say, “No, it’s never gonna happen.”
I played Horizon 1 all the time for almost a year because there was always a race to be run. I can’t see H2 keeping me occupied for much longer than seeing all the single player content if online isn’t changed up. And that’s so frustrating because everything else is there and this could easily be a game I stuck with for a long, long time.
In free roam you go up to an event you want to do. Start it and choose whether to lock it to the free roam group of people or search public / invite friends.
That way you are choosing which event you do.
Either that or allow 3 types of roadtrips:
Racing - 4 different races each time.
Playground - 4 different PG Games
Mixed - sure you get the idea by now lol
I actually like doing mixed roadtrips myself so always vote for the next one to be some races plus a PG or two.
I really like your idea of having 3 types of road trips available. That way everyone can get what they want. I’m currently put off by the online road trips because I’m not interested in doing playground games so free roam is my only option.
If you see me online and want to do some roadtrips I would be happy to always vote for pure racing. If we get enough like minded people either in private or public roadtrips our votes will hopefully be enough to get it over the line.

I’d definitely be up for that! I can handle doing playground games sometimes but it seems like out of the three locations that are given to vote on, two of them have playground games so there’s only a 1 in 3 chance of getting in the one with only racing.
Bottom line, the messed up with this game. They messed up, BIG time.
I can’t believe they tried to pass this off as a good game & thought we’d all follow because we’re loyal fans, then they do something like this & many other things to kill which already was a good game.
They have failed, I’ve lost all faith in Forza. To think I bought a 360 for Forza a few years back, I wish I hadn’t of wasted my time or money on any of it.
I agree with you guys on this one, would love to see custom lobbies come back, i just hate cross-country, king and infected events, there’s really no way to avoid them.
