These straight-in-with-a-story things are good. Are they here to stay?
For me I hope not, after the chapter its been stuck in the loading screen for the past 5 minutes.
Edit: It was truly stuck, I had to restart the game to get it to load. Had the same thing happen once before, with the original donut media story series intro.
Personally I wish they’d stop trying to make story and cutscenes or at least give us the chance to skip it. I am so incredibly tired of being forced to listen to the most uncharismatic people in the world try to talk about cars and sound excited.
Yeay happend to me too, just kept loading and changing background forever. It would be good if they only ONCE could release an update that dont have atleast 1 bug. Its like they dont even bother to check if the update will work on anything other than the computer they made it in.
Going to hard disagree on this one. Not only do I hate being forced into the story in a franchise where freedom of gameplay was what originally sold me on it, but I also hate the fact that all of this work is being done on stories while the racing endgame goes unsupported, underfeatured, dripfed, and ignored by PGG.
I actually enjoy the addition of the new stories & the rolling intro into the new series. Despite the sometimes cringy dialogue, I feel like it’s a break from the typical monotony of the playlist. The freezing after the intro though, not so much, & I’ve experienced this in previous releases.
Won’t have a chance to actually log-in until later tonight to check it out first hand, but at least it appears to be a decent story.
I’ve been playing a lot of FH3 lately and I must say, even having finished the game completely almost 3 years ago, it’s still fun because of custom championships. And…a better map. And…better DLCs. And…better car list. Yeah.
As far as I’m concerned, they can add all the stories they want after they add in essential racing endgame tools like custom championships.
I wouldn’t be happy about it, but it wouldn’t be so offensive to the core of the game.
Still, doesn’t it bother you, knowing that this effort they are putting in could have been used to add more (fully functioning) races to the map? You know, actually replayable content? I get breaking up the experience, but that shouldn’t be prioritized over the core gameplay, which is what has happened to this franchise for two iterations now.
Same (also previously too) and I gave it 10 minutes or more. Frustrating. And, no, not really a fan of the “lets just jump right into the story” . I’d rather have the choice of starting the story when I’m ready thank you very much.
Four posters now five not liking the foced cut scenes. And @TheWarmWind76 is absolutely right. There are so many points within the game where the efforts could have, no make that should have been directed before moving forward with these new stories.
And yes with the other posters. After the cut scenes the game goes into a load sequence and locks up forcing a hard reset and restart of the game. Why? The game has already loaded and the scene starts. Why do they send it back into a load sequence? And a load sequence that doesn’t work. It’s just incredible how each new update contains so many new bugs (features).
Sounds like you got a different story than I did. I thought mine was about a whiny kid grumpy about someone being better than her and our character trying to tell her she was good but she didn’t want any of it and just got mad at us too, until we showed her that she was still the best. Or something like that, my dialogue is always much quieter than the rest of the game so sometimes it’s hard to tell what they’re nattering on about. I should really just turn it off entirely like some have had the brains to do so.
Funny you should mention that; I think if you refer to a recent thread I started (which is now locked), you’ll probably see we are more in agreement than it may appear. However, I also appreciate when they try to add some different content to mix it up a bit & I really can’t comment on resources being redirected to create a story rather improve existing gameplay bc I have no clue how they allocate their resources.
I will say, however, after the above thread was summarily locked down & the subsequent message to the member involved, that I’ve somewhat recalibrated my expectations.
I know, and I get it, and I never expect to 100% agree with everyone or even anyone on the forums, even when most of our goals align.
However, if enough of us start speaking with a uniform enough message with clear and achievable goals, then things will change at PGG, or a competitor will get wise and try and capture the market share. That’s all I’m trying to accomplish.
I will say though, I think we’ve gone well past the saturation point with stories where it can be called “variety content” at this point. They get way more attention then the core features, which I consider to be building, tuning, racing, painting, and freeroam downtime (exploration, drifting, cruising, etc).
Not a fan either, instead I’d much prefer they let us get straight into the game and then tell us about it the first time we go out into the map so the choice to play any of it is entirely up to the player, I’ve already completed the whole thing but I know there’ll be players out there who are not interested a jot in doing the stories.
I am more glad than ever that I have speech volume set to 0 for this story in particular as well, just the occasional look at the subtitles were making me do Picards inside.
Yep, I fully agree & support that. When it’s done respectfully, it should be received in that manner, (& I think it is in some cases), but to me, there is also a very clear, underlying message of an expectation of “conditional love” & when you color too far outside those lines so to speak, reason becomes lost & you’re invited to have your fun elsewhere, which is unfortunate.
It’s ironic that the cutscenes in the 1st FH are much better than the story cutscenes in H4 and H5. And you could skip them if you wanted to.
I totally thought you were being sarcastic. Had to read the whole thread looking for the punchline. No disrespect though. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
I’m still not sure …but totally agree with you, if it works for SpirantCrayon22 I’m glad for them
Well the problem is that their version of success is number of plays, not players. So if there is lets say only 10% who still play this game and 2% make their vocie heard its still 98% a total success. And how much we try we will never get heard. They still have very good reviews from 1 time players and the media who is also prob 1 time players. So why should they listen to the 2% core players when they get prasied by the other 98% non existing players. This is what happes when big money come in and buy smaller studios and turn them to a pure profit machine. There is a reason alot of people left and started a new game studio
I said it before and i say it again, the horzion we had and the horizon we want is gone forever, and that prob extends to all games from microsoft onwords.
I really do like the break from the usual. Feels like there’s some rejuvenation of the playlist been going on; harder stunts again, these story things, this is good stuff in my book.
I can see the points raised and have often bene one to criticise the lack of progress with basic bugs. It remains a good game but the issues stop it from being better than that, it’s mystifying why bugs that are so old and well-known remain.
But yes, I like the difference. Thanks all for commenting, the responses are generally in disagreement but have stayed miles away from Twitter in nature!
