hello,
I do not post much unless i feel strongly about something , so here goes…
I’ve been playing Forza Motorsport since day 1, enjoyed each chapter through out the years until this current one - Forza 6 - i give up!!!
was happy with the rain effects - finally but the handling is the worst part and the worst out of all Forza games.
who are the clowns that did the testing? i reckon they were all hyped up on donuts & redbulls resulting in over stimulated feedback ;p
i have been trying to get used to it, the quick snap, break grip crap…playing with setups, even brought a new controller thinking the other one is broken, not broken controller
the handling is broken…feels like Project Cars at release day but at least they have been tweaking the handling but not 100% fixed!
so i dont know if Turn10 can fix this with a patch (maybe a huge patch) or wait for Forza 7 ;p until then have time to finish off Horizon 2 - the best open racing game.
and now put Forza 6 back onto the shelf until a patch cames, so not completely a goodbye…just a see you later Forza Motorsport 6.
Hook up your controller via a micro USB cable and check if there are any updates. Is your FM6 game also updated?
Go to advanced controller settings and set all inside deadzones to zero, outside to max.
First drive the lower D and C class stock cars and get used to SIM steering. Give it time and patience and you’ll get the hang of it. If not, you can switch to normal though the driving will become pretty basic and non-nuanced.
Let’s not compare it to PCARS, as that game gives you a lot of steering tweaks, whereas Forza doesn’t. I wish it did, but at the moment there is a cap on controller steering.
If he has played previous Forza games its not likely him thats the problem. If you want a more sim style experience then FM6 is pretty useless. No, very useless. While the game looks realistic the driving experience is anything but.
There is more frontend grip compared to fm5. I had to adjust my driving style and adust my tuning to compensate. Normally steer help also.
I don’t think the physics are the weak point in this game. This game may not be Sim but not an arcade like hoizon or need for speed.
well…well…well…looks like i have to eat my own words or post
next day I thought i will try one last time with the settings etc etc etc…spent a few hours.
[Mod edit - WSD - Profanity and alluding to profanity is against the TOS]
then was thinking about how the car feels while it snaps (thinking back to my go-kart racing days)…changed one car setting,
went out…warm up lap and wow…snapping gone!!! i have managed to do 30 laps -fast laps without stupid snapping…on Watkins.
and did try on other tracks…lime rock and Nord too…did full laps with snap on Nord
so to confirm the ‘snap free’ car setting…i used my other favourite cars and no snap…really enjoying Forza6 now…too funny.
i did try the car setup on normal steering and sim and works on both…i like to use sim steering and STM and TC off always.
in conclusion…if you having trouble with something…post it and then try it again ;p maybe i will use that as my motto.
or maybe Turn10 did a secret update ;p
There’s so much lift of oversteer in this forza… You can tune most of it out but it’s still a pain. That’s the only real problem I have with the physics. Oh and I use a TX not a controller.
But it is so easily rectified by adjusting the differential settings…just requires a little tuning! I would mess around with the diff and experiment to your liking before you throw in the towel!
I have just come back to Xbox and Forza after 18 months on a PS4.
Previously I played a lot of FM3 and FM4 with both controller and a Fanatec wheel, but did not play FM5.
After playing a few hours last night, it will certainly take some adjustment but must agree with other posters above - the lift-off oversteer is insane. In previous iterations it was there but nowhere near as aggressive.
Trail breaking is another area where this comes into play: If you haven’t tuned your car to perfection, trail breaking is almost completely out of the question. As soon as you even start to ease of the breaks the rear steps out. I ended up just going to normal steering as I haven’t had time for much tuning.
The feedback from the controller is also very different. In FM4 the controller and the audio design did a very good job of letting you know when you were getting to the limits of traction. It may be that I haven’t learnt the current cues, but I don’t recall FM3 or FM4 having this many problems initially.
Very early days yet, but it hasn’t been a smooth re-entry.
Question: Which Drivatar setting should I use? I tried Average, Above Average and Highly Skilled. They all seem on marginally less bad with each step.
You guys do have some good valid points. I also play Project Cars and recall they added more grip to the cars w/ their game patches but FM6 is its own game too. I do sometimes say that many stock cars should handle better and hoping it doesn’t drive this bad in real life
