I expect to be disappointed

I’ve played every Forza since the very first one on original XBOX. I’ve played A LOT. My favorites were FM2 and FM4. Those two had the best multiplayer, due to having user created custom public lobbies. I bought an XBOX One specifically to play Forza 5. I was so let down by Forza 5, that I seriously considered selling my XBOX. I won’t go into detail on all of the reasons why FM5 is so terrible. It’s all been said by numerous people many times. Has T10 listened to us? I highly doubt it, so I’m waiting for FM6 to be released. This time I’m going into it expecting to be disappointed. If it turns out to be ok, I’ll be pleasantly surprised. I’ve lost all faith in T10’s ability to create a great racing game anymore. The basic physics and visual aesthetics are there, but there needs to be a heck of lot more to it than that, in order for a game to be good. FM5 was a shiny package with zero substance and very little extended playability, because hopper lobbies only, makes for terrible multiplayer.

Please don’t cater to casuals this time! People who play the game just a handful of times and spend their entire time on the game just ruining it for everyone else. I’m so close to completely giving up on this franchise. I doubt I’m alone in this sentiment. I know many people who gave up on it when FM5 came out. You guys broke the franchise already. Perhaps your sales numbers don’t reflect this, giving you a false sense of being on the right track, but the franchise broke when you released FM5, one of the most pitiful examples of an unfinished, bug filled AAA title. If the next one is a lemon too, I think it will be the end of Forza motorsport.

hang on, I know the answer to this one.

also, bonus question/response.

If Xbox never had Call Of Duty, then we’d probably not have any casuals at all.

? are you blaming call of duty for casual gamers buying Forza?

It’s not terrible. People have just been drama queens. Sure, it’s sadly lost a few features and some tweaks would’ve been nice, but there’s been nothing better in years. If I didn’t get FM5, what would my options be? Need for Speed? That’s a big step down. Gran Turismo 6? That’s much worse than FM5. Driveclub? Not nearly good enough. It’s still a great game. It still lacked real competition.

Forza games have been the top-rated racing games for years but one single game comes along that you dislike and you make like it’s a long-running trend of mediocrity. Look to Polyphony Digital if you want to see what justifies lost faith, since they’ve failed to offer anything meaningful since PlayStation 2.

Again, this is melodrama. Nobody lost faith. You don’t get to justify losing faith over one game that you weren’t happy with.

It’s also important for you to understand the economics of this industry. When a game sells a million copies at $60 each, that’s not $60 million in profit or even in revenue. It’s about $15 to $20 million in revenue. If you spend $40 or $60 million making the game, you need to sell several million copies at $60 each just to break even. Copies sold at less than $60 earn less, and sales of used copies earn developers $0.

Now, every new console generation raises the development costs. However, players don’t want to pay $100 for a new game. This means they can’t sink twice as much money into the development budget, so they can’t hire double the staff or develop the game for twice as long and still sell it for $60.

FM5 wasn’t rushed. They was released on the same development schedule as previous installations. They couldn’t keep building FM5 for another year and still afford to sell it at $60, but nobody wants to pay $90 for a non-LCE copy (collectors would cost more still.)

I am expecting FM6 to make up for FM5. Turn10 has a fantastic opportunity here to make an amazing game. If rumours are to be believed, this game has been in production since FM5 was chosen to be a launch title for the Xbox One and Turn10 knew that they wouldnt be able to make a game up to their expectations. This year marks 10 years of the Forza franchise. That presents a whole wealth of content options for them to inject into the game. Old tracks, old cars, revamped career. Its going to be an epic game. Mark my words.

Done.

Yea op’s being a bit of a drama queen, yes FM5 wasn’t the best,it lacked a lot of cars an tracks and online was ruined with the hopper, but judging one game for trying something new isn’t going to ruin the franchise, they’ve learned there mistakes and will improve upon what they did right.I don’t expect FM6 to blow my mind but I believe it will be a good improvment from FM5,as long as you don’t go into it expecting the world you should be fine.

Well, at least they’re bring back the OLD forza style music, i noticed it in the FM6 reveal trailer and everytime i listen to that song it makes me wonder if this may be the FORZA we all want.

Not quite… This is the old Forza style music. And this, and this

FM1 and FM3 had excellent soundtracks. FM2, FM4, and FM5’s were all pretty disappointing for me. If FM6’s soundtrack is anything like FM1 or FM3’s I’ll be happy.
