I don't get it. I play this game to race as a sim not an arcade game.

Maybe I’m not understanding the true philosophy behind this game. Is it an arcade game or a racing simulation. Should I be racing to race you know place where ever at the finish line depending on how well I drive during the race how well my car is setup and tuned. Maybe I got into this game for all the wrong reasons. I win plenty of races and have decent lap times. Why is it that the fastest lap wins no matter how dirty.

It seems to me you were in a lobby with “compare best lap times” on. This basically means it’s a hot lap competition. If someone had a faster lap than you they, absolutely rightly, finished higher than you.

I think Koga means to ask “why is it that dirty drivers, as well as drivers who do not stay within the track limits in a realistic way, are favored by the system and allowed to win in online play?” I could be wrong though. If that is what you mean Koga, My response would be that the Forza series is more of a driving sim than a simulation of real world racing. You are just gonna have to learn to match the track behavior of whoever you are racing. If they are cutting corners and you can’t keep up without doing the same, then cut. If they knock you off track when you go for a pass, then wreck em into the wall (as long as your certain it is intentional).

@ Koga. You need to try racing in organized racing leagues where there are rules to race by, and if you break too many rules you are penalized.

I like Virtual Motorsport racing, even though, I don’t get in the top 10 too much, but it sure is fun racing against some of the top Forza racers.

Murph, thank you for your answer. You’ve hit the nail on the head. It’s so frustrating to watch the car ahead of you just out of reach all over and off the track.

I’d great if T10 incorporated a proper penalty system, with black flagging for corner cutting. Can’t see that happening in any Forza though.

They had a time penalty in FM2. Not sure how it worked in the lobbies though, as I never really raced in them.

Yep, or how about walling a corner like near the Ring pit entrance. I like to get close to it and every once in a while I’ll graze it. I will go wide left and turn right when the corner meets with windscreen pillar.

I think the time penalty makes sense for each corner messed up. I do see some people that are winning are doing it with dirty laps. Road Atlanta is a perfect example. But not the only one. That third turn, the one to the right before the esses. My goodness. I have to slow down more than others to take that turn while they dive on the inside on the grass. Whatever. Let em race like shleps.

Winning with the least amount of effort possible. This is what’s trending for gaming. The recent generation of gamers. You’ll find them camping in corners and so on.
