The only thing I miss is actually earning credits. Now they thorw credits after you. I miss the feeling og actually earning a car.
I know what you mean, the in-game economics are set-up for microtransactions and loot boxes. This game feels the least rewarding of all⌠Iâm already done with FM7, normally
Iâd play Forza motorsport installments nearly continously for 2 years.
I feel the same way, it definitely is more then just franchise fatigue too. Since FH3 update for the X I finally am playing the game, and man Playground games are far more talented and innovative with game design in the later generation of Forza games. Horizon knows what it is and completely embraces it, but Motorsport seems to forget what type of game it is after all these years. I always preferred track simulation over Horizons arcade style gameplay, but now Iâve been pulled away from Motorsport mainly due to FM7 having an identity crisis, and it jut not being that much fun anymore. Not because its more âdryâ less flashy gameplay, but rather just poor design. I donât care what anyone says FM7 advertising for âdynamicâ tracks is a complete sham. I want the intense simulation but with the attention to detail and freedom we could expect from the franchise. Which in my opinion always was the reason why I was such a die hard fan after all these years.
Rivals mode being bombed out and depleted is whatâs killing FM7 for me. The Free Play mode is fine and all, but it is by no means any sort of suitable equivalent to the previous generations Rivals mode. No class based leaderboards, no ghosts. I play in a weekly lapping club with 11 friends. Every week, the slowest person (that posted a clean time) from the previous weekâs challenge chooses the track and car class for the current week. We keep a points system and that determines the winner at the end of the year. Rules are simple, you have to post a clean time to earn points and you must use your own tune (or a tune from a group member if they choose to make it public), no leaderboard tunes allowed. Most of our weeks, the top 4 or 5 times are separated by tenths. Because most of us are not incredible tuners, the ability to load a group memberâs ghost and see where theyâre squeezing time out of the track is crucial to most of us. And that leads to another issue that OP pointed outâŚbeing unable to test drive out of the tuning menu. For example, knowing that I have to be at xxxMPH in the straight to beat member A, but still have to have the gearbox/suspension/aero to hold xxMPH thru certain corners or a big carousel. Dialing in a setup used to be easy thanks to the test drive and ghosts. Now it is quite the opposite.
For those that say we should keep playing FM6 if that stuff is so important, we tried. In the end, FM6 is stale. FM7 has different tracks, different cars, different appearance mods, etc. Homologation is a great feature, but it has ruined a large portion of FM7 for me because it is so pervasive as a feature. I would have no issues with it if there were class based leaderboards in addition to the homologated/division leaderboards. Really, there should be 3 leaderboards: a homologated class leaderboard, a homologated division leaderboard, and a unrestricted class leaderboard. If youâre someone who says to move over to AC or PC2, half of us use wheels and half donât. While those two titles are quite frankly excellent sim racers, there is a huge disadvantage to using a controller vs a wheel and half of our group would be left behind.
Add ability to test drive out of tuning, add class based rivals back in, rework the leaderboards, and FM7 instantly improves. At least for me. While I was hoping for a real career mode with practice/qualify/race, flags, penalties, and a meaningful or purposeful career arc, thatâs not something I would even hold out hope for in FM7. But that is another can of worms for another thread. Adding back in things from previous generations isnât hoping for too much. At least I would hope not.
