Feedback from 8 years playing FM games

Hi T10 and Forza Motorsport Community.

I’m opening this thread just to give some feedback about the FM7 performance. Been playing since fisrt Forza on Xbox and purchased any Forza game you launched.

Feel free to add any comment or tip if i miss something.

First of all I want to say that the homologation system it’s a good idea and it’s giving us a new way to play this game but there are a couple of things that are making worse our racing experiences.

  1. Timing, gaps and lap times:
  • Green is faster and red is slow. We all know that, don’t make sense using blue.

  • There is no reasonable time to see whats your last lap time, even your best. Sometimes I need to pause the game to see my last lap time.

  • There is no gap time against your rivals. We have the distance graphics but why don’t you implement the time gap ahead/behind just like in Forza 2? It was great.

  • Playing racing games, timing options are essential to keep a good racing experience. Please improve that and make Forza great again.
  1. Leaderboards and rivals
  • That was the trully core of Forza community. We love the feature to race against our friends ghosts, even our best lap ghost just to practice and improve our performance. Community rivals are an excellent way to give us extra content to race, but leaderboards is, as i said, our day by day racing core.
  1. Sharing content
  • I remember when playing Xbox360 forza games, we can gift cars, tunes, vynils and liveries. It was a great way to make new racers to take part on our community. For people like me, who usually hosts championships and makes mandatory vynils was an usefull feature.

  • Users storefronts was a great way to showcase all our community work. On 360 Forza games it worked fine and was better than the “top 10” most rated system that its workng since FM5. It’s very difficult to find good liverys or tunes because the incoming stuff has no chance to get a place into the top 10 list. Now it’s all about the fast you share your content, not the quality of it.

  1. Clubs and eSports
  • The club system of FM4 was great. Even the Club garage was a brilliant feature. Why we never seen it later on Xbox One games? For many of us was a step forward into the Forza saga…

  • Club leaderboards makes more sense now that people is most focused on eSports than FM4 where only a few was trully involved.

  1. Points and penalties
  • I know you have something about it and its not yet released but we need a leagues system to make sense on our ingame progression. Maybe we need a more accurated rating system to determine our trueskill than the one we have been seeing on latest Forza games. Why don’t you make something like iRacing? Gran Turismo and Project Cars are copying their system because it works. Don’t be affraid to copy something that works, if it improves our racing experience nobody will regret you.

  • A penalty system us required for those that are ruining anybodys races at multiplayer hoopers. I don’t see the point to not penalty those who only plays for divebombing and destroying our races.

  1. Bugs and fails

I know you are working on it and I hope you can fix it soon, but here is a list of things you should improve soon.

  • Multiplayer stability. I can’t race more than 4 or 5 races without getting lagged out.

  • Since latest update we can’t see nobodys livery.

  • Loading tunes on free practice is not working.

  • Best lap ghost is not working in free practice.

  • Spectator feature is missing.

  • Needing 2 or more players to setup a private lobby makes no sense.

I hope all this points helps T10 to improve a good racing game to make it the BEST racing game. Today FM7 can’t be considered a good racing game untill it’s fixed.

And finally a couple of suggestions:

  • Why so many ATV’s if we don’t have a dirt track or some good arena to race it?

  • Why don’t you implement an online practice sesion where drivers can join/leave while its running and we where able to do some tune working on pits? It makes the difference on a simulator or just an arcade racing game.

Finally, you have the Horizon franchise to “play” with a lot of cars and funny events. Lets focus Motorsport franchise on simulation races and eSports.

Greetings from Spain, sorry if i missed something and forr my poor english level. See you on track!

I think they need to introduce some kind of over all rewards for monthly rivals. You spend time getting them top times and end of the month poof!! Gone!!

They could do somthing like top 1% get 100k, 5% 50k, 10% 25k and after that the rest get 10k. Will give poeple more of a push. Just look how many people do the bounty hunter one’s

Elite Dangerous does this for their weekly community events and it works really well. They also make the rewards sufficiently large enough to motivate people to do it.

100% with you!

Offroad cars onto onroad tracks make no sense!
Multiplayer Lobby just with 2 players to start is also … “()§&/(”!T, next: no AI in private multiplayer is a game breaker.

It makes no less sense than limos and vans. The thing about a race with road cars versus race cars is that driving each is a different experience. Racing an F1 car is very different from NASCAR. Racing a car is different from racing a pickup truck. Racing a limo is different from racing a regular car. Likewise, racing the off-road vehicles is still a different type of racing experience even when not off-road.

I wouldn’t be opposed to dirt races in Forza Motorsport, but if it’s there it needs to be to the same standard as racing on asphalt. If it’s just a dirt texture with reduced grip levels, that’s not good enough. I’d be a bit surprised if they add off-road, though, as that’s getting into Forza Horizon territory, similar to how Horizon isn’t likely to start having race tracks because that’s what Forza Motorsport is for.

neh… F1, Limo´s, SUV´s also… they roll out with street tyres.
Street tyres - on track = ok
Baja trucks and offroad beasts with offroad tyres on street = no sense to me

I’m trying to find a reason why they use light blue for both faster and slower lap. Does it make any sense? No!!! Every single time I have to check if the little sing is a + or a -

They use blue instead of red because color blind people shouldnt be disadvantaged.
They said this in an interview.

If that’s the reason, they should have just added a colour blind option.

Thats too much common sense for one day.

I can speculate why this would occur given the geographical area and it doesn’t surprise me.

The absurdly small fonts do though. Who the hell ok’d that mess?

So because some people are colourblind we all have to suffer. This is what’s referred to as ‘lazy’, plenty of other games have options for colourblind settings, this one just forces it on everyone.
Also, in regards to timing, I did a race yesterday where the tracker on the left of the screen showed how many seconds the opposition was a head, but had the cars behind indicated in meters. Thought that was odd, better than having all in meters but all in seconds is still prefered.
Most of the other points raised by the OP are also valid, hope they get some attention.

Iam fully agree with Carlos! Thank you for that!

+1

Please bring back the leaderboards just like we had in FM 2, 3, and 4. I never got an Xbox One, so I don’t know how they looked in FM 5 & 6. I was surprised to find them missing in FM 7.

Totally agree with Carlos

Turn10 should more focus in motorsport/simulation since they have Horizon for fun.

Less haloween cosplay and more qualify session ala Project Cars ,pitstop ala GTS and 5 seconds slow down penalities …

ps : add the ability to add IA on private lobbies for the love of God …

ps2 : actually I can’t recommend Forza7 to a new Xbox owner … PC2 or Forza6 are actually more solid IMO

thank you

Lots of good stuff here and I agree with all of it . . .

Now that the forza franchise has two titles, it’s time to really refocus Forza Motorsport on the MOTORSPORT.

Practice, Qualify, Race.

Leaderboards. Like the old days, with search by homologation, class, friends, country, and CAR. If you include the car filter, you can reduce the visibility of leaderboard cars and allow us to pursue top slots with our favorite cars.

I like homologation with the option of also just building and racing by class. Yes classes are imperfect and will lead to leaderboard cars and franken-missles- that’s fun for some.

We truly don’t need off-road vehicles until you provide us with off-road tracks. We also don’t need novelty vehicles which never RACED anywhere.

We don’t need car collection, with collection levels and locks. If you want to limit access to the various levels of vehicles do so with a player level. Then you can get rid of the credit economy. You could also just tie different levels of upgrades (street/sport/racing) to different player levels as well. For those that don’t want to put in the time in campaign or online to level up, just sell them a level up for cash (which we know you’ll love.) Car rental is a lame kinda way to allow access to all cars, but then not provide in game currency with wins. Other racing sims simply provide all cars as available (owned) from the get go . . . I prefer it.

Private lobbies need AI cars as an option. Period.

You can’t call yourself Motorsport without some type of penalty and live rule system. Fuel consumption/tire wear/damage and pit repairs need to be more realistic- with options to scale consumption and repair.

Do timed races end when the clock expires or when everyone completes the lap they are on AFTER the clock expires?

How about a team option for drivers, where we can change human drivers in the pits? Our teammates could spectate (hint) and play spotter/pit boss.

While your efforts to improve ffb are appreciated, FM7’s feel and ffb with a steering wheel remains subpar when compared with iracing/project cars/assetto corsa/GT/F1/Dirt. While I appreciate that the Forza majority uses gamepads (less of a majority now that the title is on PC) - 7th place for a AAA title is failure.

Driving suits? Really?

Many good points here, well done. I’d like to add my favourite feature which has been missing since FM5, public custom lobbies. Hoppers are good and all, but too limited.

Also please enable tire wear in endurance hopper so the pit stop actually matters.

Yeah colour blind or not, you ain’t seeing nothing!

Fantastic thread and I agree with the majority. All traces of Horizon should be removed from Motorsport. They are, or were, two separate games, and that is how it should be.

The problem is, Turn 10 need to better sales with each release, to justify their existance. Unfortunately, they are struggling to do so. So, rather than truly develop the games as stand alone titles, they are merging both, in an attempt to entice players to own both titles. I’m guessing they are seeing some success or they wouldn’t have brought Forzathon and the likes, to FM7.

For me, the games are a world apart. If I want a serious read, I choose FM. If i want a light read, I choose FH.

100% of the time, I prefer a serious read.

I haven’t read a good book since Forza 4. Round about the time they hatched their plan to merge the titles.
