Hey tuners, I am painting a hurst/olds and I want a 442. so umm the game gives you a 3 speed hurst/olds and that is not a 442, so have any of you tuners done a 4 speed hurst/olds? that is derivable on track, not drag or drift. I want a 4 speed . if I like your tune I will put both a tag that sez , “tuned by” on the car,so ppl will see it when they d/l, and a tune recommendation in my description. and I will really appreciate it as well.
thanks Phred.
I cant remeber what trans i have in my b class olds 442. I can rework it tonight if need be but checkbit out.
Type ERS in the description when looking for the tune
If its A class dont download it because its garbage. I may have forgot to share the b class one now that i think about it.
ok I will check it out now, still working on a cpl vg’s for the design. and no a class, got it lol
Yes. I have one in B and it’s the best ever. I’m the Olds tuning God or something like that.
Good tune nice and grippy but it is a 5 speed. but dang I like it. still though not a four speed.
I can make it a 4 speed no problem but its going to be much slower
Lol swerve. You and ur olds are a good team.
I remade the olds with a 4 speed trans and the stock motor. Its not as fast but it is more what u were looking for. I also changed the tune to my new tuning style so if it drives good the awesome and if not i will put my other tune back on there.
Tag. I’m down for any old American cars
I have been playing around with alot of real world transmission numbers while trying to build drag cars and trying many different combos of things. I have started using the Borg Warner 4spd trans for some muscle cars circuit stuff and it seems to work real well. Especially with the torque-y big blocks. The final is kinda up to you, what ever you’re wanting it for but the other gears are,
1st - 2.97
2nd - 1.94
3rd - 1.35
4th - 1.00
If you want to stretch it, make a 5th, i usually bump up 4th to 1.05 if it needs it and throw in a .80 or .85 for 5th. That seems to work pretty well. At least from me and the way I drive. There, 2 cents gone!
It’s quite a shame that there is no 4 gear setup with adjustable final drive for most muscle cars. and the ones that have it, have bit too long gearing.
Classic muscle cars were gearing limited in real life, and that is painfully true on stock trans builds, unless you use race cam. (Which most of the time is waste of PI)
and all they would really need is longer final drive. For proper 4 speed gearing you must use race gearbox, and that’s 99% of the time just waste of PI.
Just out of curiosity I did some minor testing.
-Stock engine with with sport cam (Couldn’t fit race) and stock transmission (3 speed) it runs out of gears at 142mph
-For stock engine the gap is 11 PI (A611) which still sounds expensive,
-Sport which could be adjusted to work in 4 gears, but for the benefit it still sounds PI expensive (A607)
-Street trans is 5 speed and drops the PI by 1 (B599) seems to be the “go to” part. the 5th gear is must use part, but it has a lot of RPM to go when raching 155, meaning the camshaft could be used for more beneficial parts. and the car is much easier to drive than with 3 speed.
-5.7 swap with race camshaft and stock trans (3 speed) it’s bit sluggish on acceleration, but reasonable car overall with 155+ top speed (COTA back straight was too short)
-Just by adding race trans it shoots the PI up by 18. (A618) which means it’s way too PI expensive
-Sport costs 14 PI and it’s way too expensive
-Street costs 5 PI but has massive boost for acceleraton and speed. and at least on COTA 5th gear isn’t needed.althuogh the top speed on COTA back straight is lower, (150mph) and by making the car 10lbs heavir and taking out 8hp it could be fitted to B600.
How ever, From this build (5.7l V8) if we drop the camshaft, and replace it with something more beneficial, 567hp/479lb-ft - cam 478hp/473lb-ft + other upgrades = 559hp/559lb-ft (Notice the jump in torque, and that torgue boots the acceleration massively.) and -40lbs of weight!
On COTA back straight it reaches to again that 155mph, speed, and it had the best acceleration on anything tested so far.not to mention it was the easiest to drive out of all tunes tested so far.
Just out of curiosity I made stock engine, stock cam build which is a lot heavier then the 5.7 swap. 565hp/651lb-ft and even thuogh the engine suits this car the best of all, I’d say the 5.7 and 5 speed is the way to go.
At lunch I threw together a B Class, no aero tune. Stock engine bumped to 509hp, 574lbft, normal aspirated, with the aforementioned Borg Warner 4spd. It is the 6 spd race trans, but if you tune out the last 2 gears, viola, a 4spd. It topped around 162 or so on the back of Bathurst. Never hit rev limiter, came up close to redline. Feels pretty good. Needs fine tuned suspension wise, but in my opinion the gears work well. Shared, search my GT or MSS 442 4spd.
Hey guys, first off thanks for your response to my request, how ever after spending 168000 credits I realize you cant make a 442 tune, which sucks. I mean in in the vista view they explain what the 442 stands for , but wont allow you to actually make a true 442 in the game. Shame on you turn 10. I think I will start a petition to get them to rectify that, but I degrees.
so I tried all 3 of your tunes and the one I liked best was ERS Johnson’s and I did go for the first 5 speed tune cuz ya can’t make a 4 speed tune. but the reason for it is this I tested all 3 tunes in Prague short 6 laps and then Road Atlanta for 4 laps, and Johnson’s tune came up with the best and cleanest lap time for my driving style, but again thanks guys for the response.
now before I actually post it to share I would your input on a small design thing I am not sure on. I will post the pics and ask which you like better the left side with larger 442 and hurst, or the right side with smaller size 442 and husrt. so first the left side larger VG’s
now the right side smaller VG’s
I like both just not sure which will be more appealing to general crowd out there.
final pic as promised ERS the VG for your tune on the rear
Heck yeah that looks good!!! I personally like the smaller version of the 442. Since u liked the original one I will go back and make improvements to it as well.
Well this is the Final design I came up with and posted to the livery contest
hope ya’s like it
The rear shot above has not changed
it is up and shared if any one would like it.
+1
I will have to download it tonight and start running it.
Hey on the rework of the tune did you just work on the grip and tuning or did you add more parts as well?
