Gauging Interest - C500 Olds 442 w/ 3 builds

As the title states, I’m curious if anyone would like some quick 442s to mess around with for C class. I have 3 tunes built, but haven’t finished tweaking the cars and determining where they are best. I’m hesitant to release them because I am only decent at tuning, but I also love this car and think it is about time for one of the more overlooked muscle cars to get a little lovin.

One of the tunes runs high 1:34s at Indy GP and another with about 80 more hp is not far off. Both cars run top 45-80 on the track with a crisp line.

Basically the rundown is this:
Tune #1: 400+ hp that is close to a grip tune with stock 3 speed transmisson

Tune #2: 500+ hp with less grip and upgraded transmission. Was built because the 3speed rev bangs just a little before Indy GP turn 1.

Tune #3: 600+ hp hold on tight because it will be a bumpy ride speed machine. The car manages 36s at Indy but likely needs TCS for consistency reasons.

If there is enough interest, I’d like maybe a few forumites to help with the test driving at other tracks so there will be a bunch of laptimes to analyze. I’m still in the process of tackling the no assist leaderboards (it’s really fun and addicting) and doubt I’ll be able to test them out in a reasonable time.

I plan on finishing the tunes to the best of my ability mid Saturday. I know I’m asking a lot, but I think it’s a fun exercise to make people fans of a car I’ve loved for a long time.

I’d like to repay the favor back to volunteers by liking whatever they want liked.

Swerve, I will run them around love running muscle cars plus tried tuning in Forza 2 and I suck so I just hot lap and this will give me something to do. Have no idea how to get the tunes unless you just put them up I do not mind buying all three. I will give you some feedback and any times I feel are decent… Martin

Im always down to run muscle cars. Thats all i basically drive in B class and i have them working fantastic. Message me on XBL and i will jump into your party and have a few goes with different tunes and such. Cant wait to get my hands on the 442 for C

Tunes are posted.

I’ve been running them a lot and was hoping to revise this thread later this week with a way too big list of times.

The 600hp tune was reduced to 570 with the idea of it being a niche tune for the few tracks that require power with a touch of handling like Road America East and two of the Sebrings.

Several times I have ran in lobbies the past few days are as follows:

439 hp tune:

Indy GP - 1:34.945 #44
Top Gear West - 33:727 #68
Prague Short Rev. - 1:03.918 #83
Yas Marina N. Alt - 1:01.767 #90
Spa - 2:40.949 #95 - Note: this was a clean lap
Road America West - 1:24.777 #122
Yas Full - 2:31.521 #129
Silverstone International - 1:12.947 #137
LeMans Bugatti - 1:54.223 #169

520 hp tune:

Road America Alt - 2:34.897 #50 (personal best)
Indy GP - 1:35.815 #125

All times could be better if hotlapped, especially that Yas full time.

Hey man i will try your tune #3 on different tracks in afternoon.

Sweet. I know it runs 1:11s at road america east, but haven’t had chance to run it at some speed tracks. They get skipped a lot for the Alps.

I see you’re still plugging away for those badges… FWIW, some of you really should check these cars out. I drove two of them and liked them both a lot. I prefer the 520HP tune the best, but the 570 isn’t bad either. The 520 handles awesome for what it is.

Okay will try it on east today, i will let you know how it will go on that track.

really nice car a lot of grip i like it. managed a 1:11.140 road america east #70 and hardcore ranking will be #17. i think it will go good around some top gear tracks will check it out now.

Swerve - these are great tunes. After getting dusted by you in a lobby with these last week (from Laguna Seca to Bathurst), I was happy to see this post.

I ran two of them in a lobby last night and won both races. Did the 3-speed on indy and the hp beast on lemans (long one w/ the chicanes), winning very comfortably there. I really like the way these handle - they are a little loose, but loose in a predictable way which makes them easy to tame. Can’t say enough about the power - just blows the doors off of everyone on the straights. I’ll run a few laps on rivals when I get a chance to get you some times.

Really, really good job on these. Which begs the question - when is the catalog coming out?

Thanks for compliments! And yea it’s hard not to finish up front in these cars while still having fun in the process.

The 439hp version really shouldn’t be competitive at Laguna and admittedly it’s a little tricky in some spots but it works.

Glad you noticed the hint of looseness. That’s how I like RWD to feel. Don’t be scared to push it when you feel the rear swaying just a bit. It is forgiving in spots where you’d predict otherwise.

And I probably won’t do a catalog. It takes a lot of time to get everything documented well and not all of the tunes I do are great. I’m still learning as I go.

okay ran some stages now with the #3 build 570HP

Sebring Short: 1:21,278 #77
Road America East: 1:11,140 #70
Yas Marina North: 1:18,165 #32
Top Gear Loop-R: 0:51,797 #30
Top Gear Loop: 0:52,687 #26

i like this tune, enjoy it, good job to you.
next i will check your 400+HP tune on other stages.

Wow! Fantastic job there!

I didn’t think it would work at any of the Yas tracks nor work so well at top gear loop.

Thank you so much for running the tune!

Gotta love a boat that’s fast on land! Haha.

thank you! haha right it’s a fast boat, by the way the 400+HP tune is also a great tune, was trying it around yas marina full. also top gear full and i think there another stages who will work well with that car and that tune.

Yeah the 439HP tune is solid pretty much everywhere except LeMans and bernese alps. I don’t think there are many top 100s it can get on grippy tracks, but definitely top 200s.

It was designed for Indy GP, but is definitely a rule bender at grip tracks. I think I’d have redo the build to be a killer grip tune.

yes it is really good.

See what happens when I plug a thread for you?

I still like the 520HP tune the best. I only set one PB with it before I got sidetracked building camaros, but I do plan on getting back to it at some point. Its a sweet ride.

Lol thanks. Yea the camaros are hard to drop. Very fun cars. I like the 520 the most too because it gets out of trouble quick and can take a beating from others mistakes. Oh the advantage of being big lol.

I’m not giving up on those Camaros until I pass your Cougar on the leaderboard. Your posts got me hooked on that darn track, so beating you is a must. I’m somewhere around 40-50 spots behind you at the moment on LaSarthe. Just redid the Z with a lot more HP, but I need to learn how to drive it

Drove your 442 in some lobbies early tonight (actually, yesterday, have I really been playing that long?) and did very well with it. Got anything tuned in B class? Well, other than the Buick on steroids?
