How would I go about encouraging a car to tripod around corners?

For a photo opportunity only, I want to get a front engined, rwd car to tripod a bit around corners, what can I do to encourage this characteristic in a car?

Positive reinforcement is the best way to encourage me. Some respond better to tough love though…jk You did say encourage, though. Nah, l’d start with ride height. Min in the back, and max in the front. It’ll raise your center of gravity. Softer springs will help get the momentum going that way. Little to no AR bars. The ride height will screw your alignment up, though. I’d probably drop my caster way down to offset the ride height. Probably be near undriveable, but you should get your tripod. Be a ditch cleaner for sure. If that doesn’t work, toe your front out some, should make it jerky enough to get even more load transfer. Good luck.

Max front ARB, minimum rear ARB.

If you do that plus soft springs, you should be able to lift a wheel pretty easily on almost any car. You might need to lower damp/rebound in the back, raise ride height, or add stickier tires… but all the fine tuning is just to make it easier to lift the tire or lift it higher. Main thing is those anti roll bars.

I’ll need to try this myself, l guess. I would think the opposite would be true. All that understeer would make it hard to even turn…like at all. In a straight line, yeah, l can see that. Just torqueing it up in the air, or hitting a bump in the road. A wheelie, yeah, but l’m thinking you’d need some turning momentum to hit that 3 wheel motion, and max ARB front, min rear, l’m just thinking the understeer is gonna keep you in a straight line. Not saying you’re wrong at all. I’m js, l’m almost tempted to try it myself.

Let us know how it goes.

Lifting an inside tire is something you shouldn’t (couldn’t?) tune for unless the weight is close to 40/60 or 60/40. Protip: build your FWDs as front-heavy as possible, usually that will be the highest-performing build. The Mugen Civic can be built to 63% front in A800.
