Heres some tips I use for making a drift tune, sorry for the huge text wall in advance…
Tire Pressure low in the back and high in the front. From 24-29 for the rear and between 31-39 front
Gears, shorter is usually better in drift competitions as you want power in the lower gears for quick, tight precision but this is mostly preference. You can choose to not adjust this setting if you’d like but eventually it’s good to adjust these the more you change the rest of your tune.
A longer/wider gear ratio setting is better for somewhere like Fortune island or street drifting to maximize control.
Alignment, camber is good for drift, adjust to your liking. Caster helps steering lock
(rotates the wheel/changes active amount of camber) but the wrong combo will feel very twitchy and unresponsive in small amounts.
Toe helps initiate/hold a drift but isn’t always needed.
(i usually only put a small amount like 0.3 in front and -0.2 in the back)
Ride Height, low ride height = tight spring compression. High ride height = soft spring compression.
Try either a slightly higher front end or higher rear end and then adjust Springs/Damping to fit with the ride height,
with correct Damping/Spring stiffness either of these can be a good choice.
Spring Stiffness, depends on preference. I like a stable car,
but it helps if the springs can be a little springy/spongy for hard corners at high speeds.
(make the rear less stiff then front springs but keep the front just loose enough to turn easily at high speed on an incline)
Rebound/Bump Damping usually should be put up to counter weight transfer but not too high or the car won’t be able to flex enough while in drift
(make sure bump is around half of rebound)
Note: Ride Height, Spring stiffness and Rebound/Bump damping go hand in hand when tuning so very carefully adjust.
Anti-Roll Bars takes time to get just right. Putting the rear higher = less body roll, more sensitive acceleration and more stability, too much can make you spin out.
Putting the front higher = tighter steering/movement at high speeds but tightening too much can make steering too fast.
Aero is important, more = better handling in turns/drifts but too much can hold you back.
Less will give fast acceleration but harder to handle angle in quick situations.
Brakes/Brake Balance also very important but is somewhat personal preference.
I put it a bit towards Rear Brakes (which FH4 treats as front) with less pressure for more accurate angle.
Differential, using more helps get the real power of your car but too much isn’t good.
Anywhere around 85-95 acceleration is fine w/ about 75-85 deceleration. Or try setting them equally, this can give a sort of “welded diff” feel.
Gears and Differential are another thing that depend on each other being tuned correctly.
On a side note, if you’re looking for a good tune to push to it’s limits, I have a nice daily drifter tune up for the 94’ Silvia that should do you wonders. I’ve tested it many places around the map during different seasons, surprisingly it works well in winter too.

4th Edit (forgot to add ride height)
Tune: WideRB26 .7
This is like all completely opposite of what I do - not saying it’s wrong as tbh I’m not a great tuner. But, I’ve watched enough drifting to feel as though I have a good picture of what is going on with suspension components. I get the sense that a lot of FD cars rock soft suspension in the rear to get that body roll in the back to help traction. If you watch FD cars some can even 3 wheel drifts with the rear squatting real hard. So I like to try recreate that with very soft rear suspension components (roll bars, springs, etc) I’ve been playing around lately with stiffer front suspension.
For toe, I’ve actually been going positive all the way up on the fronts. I find this helps snap the car around quicker and also hold better angles. It’s undriveable in all other aspects, but the FD cars are just for drifting anyways lol.
Tire pressures I go high in the rear and soft up front. I feel this helps the rear tire break traction quicker and gives the fronts more traction for handling a drift.
Again, whose right or wrong idk. This is just what I do. But if you look at a stock tune on the FD cars the suspensions are all set to the softest.
Yea I’ve realised in the past month I’d made this tune incorrect or different in some aspects and had to flip around a few settings. Still not perfect but it’ll evolve the more feedback/suggestions that people have to share. The FD DLC cars have a very spastic feel though and can be hard to keep angle without any tuning (at least on controller they do) but as you said who’s right or wrong. There’s still much I have to learn.
2ndEdit: New tune is ready!! Download now, WideRB26 .7
Thanks for working on this! Im borderline terrible at drifting and am having trouble finding the right setup

thanks for this good advice, easy enough to follow too
also thanks for Tune: WideRB26 .7 for the silvia its mint aswell, you earned a follower
Best advice is to find a tuner friendly person and play with them. Different tuners will set up vehicles differently that are usually all drift viable. Poptart brings some interesting key points, but keep in mind what feels good to him, might not feel the same to me or you. I have done several tunes on my twitch that I have walked through with others, and I have done the same since FM6 for those who wants to learn to drift, or get better at drifting, or just want to have drifting fun. I do tunes for all kinds of vehicles, including the standards in different format. IE the Silvias with V8’s or Rotary, RX7 with V8/Rotary. Some vehicles have 6.2L V8, or the V10, and in a few cases, the V12. Some tuners flourish with Turbo’s or Twin Turbo’s where as I like the Positive-Displacement Supercharger that eliminates turbo lag. Some people will use stock, or street tires, some will enjoy the racing tires. Some tuners love to change the gears and rip around large bends at 130+ mph, some like being able to do hairpin turns at 50-60mph.
So I encourage you to find someone who would teach you how to do a simple tune that is drift viable and let you be able to change different settings that might be too extreme for you and you can either harder or soften a setting to get it to drift like you want.

Thanks for the advice guys. Never been a drifter in all the forza titles but lack of races has found me exploring sideways driving. It is a challenge for sure.
It can be challenging at first, but when you get the hang of it, you will find all sorts of ways to have some kind of fun in the game, like trying to drift the world and keep a good score streak up.
I will tune my cars differently if they are AWD and RWD. AWD I feel it’s best to soften those puppies up because they feel too rigid to me. for RWD I will even out the car’s weight. I have a tuning calculator in the tuning section that is pretty easy to use. There is an old formula that goes as far back as like Forza MS 3 but it still works to even it out.

As far as toe, i usually sit anywhere between + 0.5 and + 2.5 in the front and opposite in the rear.
Try using the volvo 850 r and the tune driftoholic
I have around 20 drift cars all RWD.
Mostly I have tuned them but I don’t claim to be great at it. I have one from AR12 that I would like to tweak but it is locked so I will probably end up ditching it
2 are the Drift Club tunes - these are OK … and a few small tweaks make them suit me better
My absolute go to car is Merc AMG SL65 black series Forza Edition … soooo sweet … really forgiving , easy to drift, predictable , doesn’t snap on you…
It is the car that was for sale for Forzathon points last week
I use it at the Horizon Festival Circuit to ‘farm’ skill points for Perks … a typical skill song will pull in >30 Perk points all the while you are drifting
The Perks for this car really suit drifting too … a drift tap pulls in 9000 points
I have the BMW M6 FE with the skill multiplier that goes to 7 … I find the Merc still works better at pulling in points & it is easier to drift for me …
I guess I could try working on the tuning for the Beemer … maybe

That just goes to show how different players also play differently. Because I’m exactly the opposite where I absolutely farm the heck out of the BMW and can’t stand my Benz FE. Crazy how different people like specific cars.
^ True Dat …
I have tried quite a few tunes from others …Many of these tunes I don’t like the vagueness of the front … I like a grippy front not understeering all over the place
The biggest problem with the Merc FE for me was the gearing … the Merc 4th was too far from 3rd … so I squeezed them up and effectively put 5th where 4th was and put 4th in the middle. there is now not such a big step while drifting
The tyres pressures were getting too high when hot so I dropped a few psi …
Interested to know what tune you run on the BMW - I’d like to try it to compare apples with apples
Edit
I took the BMW out for a bit of testing and a little tuning (just camber & tyre pressure) and it’s a lot closer to my taste now … I like the speed that it gets the multiplier to 7 … shame it doesn’t have the 9k drift tap .
The major difference now for me is the Merc requires more throttle input but that makes it more controllable on the throttle
Hi everyone
Anyone got any tips for a good car/tune for drifting?!
I have a Chevrolet Camaro but that is extremely lively so need something a bit more user friendly!
Thanks!
I know it’s a bit of a Necro post but I was wondering what model of Camaro you are having trouble with?
I now have a tune for the 1970 Camaro and it is a peach to drift …
Is someone willing to trade a s5?
