How to set up my cars for online!

Hi

So playing Forza Horizon 2 a lot but mainly single player. I tried some MP but I saw some guys have way more powerful cars than me. I saw one guy racing with S2 car in A category. Is this ok? So can anyone recommend me what are some fast cars for multiplayer races and how to customize them. I mainly use upgrades done by other users from LOAD upgrade department. And what classes must I have to be competitive in MP?

Thanks for the answers

S2 in A class doesn’t seem likely, perhaps it was an S1?

I know the Ferrari 360 CS is an S1 car but when equipped with AWD it drops it back into the A Class category with room for some upgrades. I’m sure that other cars that are low enough in a class and can have an AWD swap could see similar results.

Power is good, but it’s not always about power. It’s about using the power you have as best as you can. To be competitive in multiplayer you need to have a car in whatever class the road trip is doing. Most often the road trips are A, S1, and S2 but I have seen an X once and a B class two or three times.

In Car Meet showdowns your class does not matter as lower class cars start with a head start over upper class cars. I’ve done most of my car meet showdowns in an A or B Class car and won most of them because the lead was sufficient and the driver in the upper class car wasn’t.

In Online Freeroam, when you start a race you can select which class you want it to be. Most people online will go for A, S1, or S2 with a majority favoring S2. I believe you can pick ANY for car class but I haven’t done that or been in a race like that so I’m not sure how it works.

A lot has to do with picking the right car for race you’ll be doing. If you’re doing a road trip try to pay attention to the type of races you’ll have. If you see a lot of cross country or trail go with a truck or rally car, circuit races a grip car, street races something with power, and for games get AWD.
You should also make sure the car you’re using is properly built. Just because a car is in the recommended section doesn’t mean it’s any good. Check out the tuner’s lounge for guys that know their stuff and follow them. This will allow their tunes to always pull to the front. I follow PPiDrive, and guys curse when I pull out his C-Class BRZ. It’s not that the car is over powered. It’s that the car is using the power it has the most effective way possible.

Thanks for the info. Is there any thread where PPiDrive shares some of his tunes or tips?

If you’re looking for tuning tips, I would gladly point you to the tuning sections of Forza Horizon 2 and Forza Motorsport 5. There are several quick tune guides, tuning tips in general threads, and a wide variety of more specific discussions floating around.

If you’re looking for my tunes in particular, the links are in my signature. I have a bunch of Forza Horizon 2 tunes. Some I have update for myself but shared as well so there may be multiple tunes for the same car - such as the BRZ that HONUSDAN enjoys. It’s a fun car and I like it for showdown races and online free roam in C Class. In Online Roadtrip I’ve only even seen 2 B Class options and 1 in X Class and they don’t often get voted for. The typical classes are A, S1, and S2.

To find my tunes in game, search for the car you’re in by gamertag: PPiDrive - there are a lot but not for every car. If there’s one missing and you’d like to see something of it, let me know in my thread and I’ll put something together.

Last, I don’t know how often he posts his tunes, but the ones that are posted are amazing. Of course, this is SatNiteEduardo I also love BIG W0RM 80’s A Class 2005 Subaru WRX. It accelerates very well and maintains a great speed and great handling throughout most of the map.

I appreciate that you guys like my tunes. Thank you

I have not posted many due to the tuning bug but I have just updated my list http://forums.forza.net/turn10_postsm213132_SatNiteEduardo-s-Xbox-One-tunes.aspx?g=posts&m=213132&=

I assume the OP is talking about showdowns at car meets.

Great setups guys. PPiDrive I didn’t find you S2 Audi R8 and Ford Fiesta ST setups. Are they gone?

There are occasional bugs in the system and I’ve heard of cars becoming unshared. The R8 I may have unshared because I made some build changes and may have overwritten the save, I’ll take a look once I’m home from work.

I’ll also look for the Fiesta and reshare if it is down.

I’ll update my list as well since I know I have some new Supercar builds and a C Class Celica in progress. It’s 99% to where I want it to be so I’ll add it all in at once.

I looked into it. The Audi RS2 became unshared because I saved over the tune on my end. It has been shared again but it’s now at the top of S2. sorry if that throws a wrench in your plan, but it is shared.

The Fiesta’s are all still being shared. They are for the Day One Ford HORIZON Fiesta can and not for the regular car. I am working on getting the build and tune all written down and also done for the normal car so look for it later tonight if you’re interested.

Car meet showdowns are pretty fun actually. Me an my crew likes to do builds in certain classes, we usually pick a year to choose between and a class then go for making the quickest build we can. In doing so many of these i have made multiple cars for drag that are pretty quick.

2 C class cars that have yet to be beaten by any class yet.

3 or 4 B class cars that are very competitive with e JaguarXJ120 that everyone seems to drive (One of them is nearly a second faster)

Multiple A class cars that used to be competitive. Unfortunately ever since people started using the glitched Alfa in A class there isn’t anything that can beat it except my C-class

I might have to get on to testing out some higher class cars soon, and the transmission glitch needs to be fixed soon.

My view: tuning is fine, but don’t get hung up on it. It is far more important to pick a competitive car that you are comfortable with than any amount of tuning will bring. Personally, I use auto-upgraded cars. No tuning.

The Audi’s are an easy choice for multiplayer, Subaru’s too. Nissan GTR is a popular choice. Browsing the rivals leaderboards will give you a general idea what people are using.

In a showdown race, that’s by design. In a road trip, you saw their choice as they were joining. When they raced, they used the same class as you.

Builds can save multiple seconds compared to an auto upgrade.

I’m no tuner, but I take care to upgrade my cars in such a way that their flaws are countered. PPi and SatNite can attest to the effectiveness of my untuned builds in live races, if not on the leaderboards (though I don’t fare so bad there either).

My style is “balance”. I try to build cars that are good on both tarmac AND dirt, proper racing OR playground games. My '69 Charger (C-class) '88 Scirocco (D-class) and '70 Camaro (B) are perfect examples.

None are shared right now, but these cars aren’t hard to build. Drive a car HARD in stock trim, determine what its strengths and weaknesses are, and upgrade accordingly.
