In the upgrade section, look for the key-bind in the lower right corner for something along the lines of “Reset to default.” Sorry, I am unable to provide more detail as I’m not near the game, but the option is there.
That’s one thing I don’t like when each DLC pack arrives. Every car is added to my garage and they’re all homologated, so I need to go to each one and make the car completely stock.
Forced homologation is the worst part of FM7 IMO. I get why we have homologation and I appreciate the choice when you buy a car, but forcing it in other situations just isn’t cool.
I understand for racing balance why homologation is a thing, but I want to experience cars AS THEY ARE.
There is something to be said about appreciating the quirks and handling characteristics of a car from the factory. I want to know what a stock GTI feels like to drive. In my opinion having upgrades already on cars that you’ve purchased as standard defeats the purpose of having upgrades in the game. I want to be able to buy upgrades and appreciate the differences from a stock car.
Please turn 10 introduce a stock settings mode that recreates cars in stock form so we can know what these cars were like. This is meant to be a simulator after all.
I’m very fearful that Homologation is going to be removed for Forza Motorsport 8. This worries me a lot, because it already offers much closer racing then the traditional Class & PI based system. Not as many OP cars like the GT40, Elises, S2000’s or Alfa 33’s like back in the day though of course, some divisions aren’t as close as others, but with some tweaking, Homologation could be really quite amazing in Motorsport 8. I think the current GT hopper shows what can be done.
But when you make stupid decisions like the removal of class based rivals at launch, no class based hoppers in multiplayer at launch & the fact you can’t add a simple feature like an “add as stock” or “add as homologated” when receiving DLC cars, it makes people not want to like the feature, no matter how good it is. It makes people feel like you’re forcing a new style of play, completely different to the Class & PI system we’ve been used to for years & admittedly a system that some people don’t want to move from. People like making ridiculous builds with no limitations or rules, don’t we still from time to time?
I’m a massive fan of Homologation, much more so than Class & PI based racing but please for FM8 don’t make these mistakes again.
When you buy a car right before the race (either via “Car collection” or “Buy a Car” option) the game doesn’t ask you anything. Instead, it decides whether car comes already upgraded based on race requirements.
I always reset the cars to stock when in free play, because I disable upgrades and tuning in the race settings. Unfortunatelly, for unknown reasons, sometimes game resets the “Allow Tuning” back to yes, so before every race, I have to check if it’s disabled.
Personally, I like to race all cars in their stock form, so I’m constantly resetting them after using them in career (events force homologation).
As for the balancing aspect, I don’t mind having homologation in the next game, as long as it’s at least easy to reset cars to their stock form, and identify whether a car is tuned/upgraded.
Currently, there’s no way to known besides going to some race where both tuning and upgrades aren’t allowed.
