How to install on new computer without losing anything?

I pre-ordered FH5 ultimate with the whole bundle, two expansion packs, VIP pass, etc. and have been running it since release. I’m setting up a new computer and I want to install FH5 there without losing anything. What’s my process? I started out at the Microsoft store, clicked a link to install from the XBox app, and I’m there now, seeing standard edition and that’s all. How do I do this while keeping all the goodies from my pre-order?

Thanks for any help.

In theory it syncs your data on first start
Easier to try first and update if something fails

Oh and it allows you to select version in store.
With standard installed click addons in store and install the items there

Are you logging into the Microsoft store with the same account you purchased the game with and same goes for the Xbox app on the new computer, if not that’s why you are not seeing what you purchased?

You also need to be super careful when you start up on the new PC.

By default it will likely throw you into the welcome drive, when you restart it will then give you a prompt that your local save is newer than the cloud and ask you to select which to keep.
You need to pick the cloud save as your local save only has the welcome drive etc.

Key line
“If asked what date to choose - Pick the older date. The saves shown and their dates are a reflection of when the account was CREATED and NOT when it was last saved.”

Na its fresh install and should sync before “press a to play” screen without the save selection

But the op is saying they can’t download the premium edition they bought which suggests they are not logged into the same account they used to buy the game.

When you buy a new pc you have to log into your existing Microsoft account online to be able to access any existing purchases from the Microsoft store.

It should download your save file from the cloud, when you start the game for the first time on the new machine, but it’s always good idea to make a backup of the save files yourself (store it on a USB stick or wherever you want). Just in case.

Here you can find information about location of the save files: Forza Horizon 5 - PCGamingWiki PCGW - bugs, fixes, crashes, mods, guides and improvements for every PC game

It should, but it doesnt. About two weeks ago i had to start over because i re-installed windows and i thought that, well, since its saved on the cloud i would not lose anything. But nope, i was wrong. I had to start over everything. It didnt even give me the option to sync data. I know a couple of fellas who had a similar experience.

So, maybe the sync works on some players, the lucky ones, but apparently, it doesnt always.

For unknown reason the new StoreApp redirects to xbox app and shows the Standard Edition there as default… u have to switch via select edition. U can also click in store>library (doesnt work all the time) and it shows whatever edt+addons u own

Thanks for your comments, peeps. I think I’m on track now. I went down into my Microsoft Store library again this morning and found the premium edition, and when I clicked on the ‘install from GameBox’ I got what I was hoping for: ‘Install; you own this’. So, based on your comments here, I’ll install the premium edition, then follow up by installing all the other stuff like the VIP membership, expansion packs, and so forth.

I’ve saved my game files from the older machine as a backup, so if sync doesn’t bring me back to where I was I can restore the save files.

Thanks again for your help!

@George RGJ - oh man, what a downer! I feel for you. I hope you didn’t lose anything that feels unreplaceable. But it’ll all come back, sooner or later, and maybe the cars that come along this time will be even better ones.
