Bug Info:Full screen stuck on 60 FPS as long as you’re running multi monitor setup.
Platform: Windows PC
Edition: Deluxe
PC GPU: 7800XT (latest driver July 24)
For us folks running multi-monitor setups, theres been this seemingly random problem of gam being stuck on 60 FPS even if you got a high end GPU, or it’s stuck on 60 FPS as long as you’re running multi monitor setup.
Various fix was attempted, including:
- turning off all the Microsoft game mode stuff - Dont Work
- turning off all the Microsoft game bar stuff - DOnt Work
- turning off “full screen optimization” at program setting/compatibility level - Dont Work
- updating GPU driver blah blah - Dont Work.
edit yes i did check the display/graphic settings of the monitor, 165hz, its the first thing i checked…
None of those works. Game was running 144FPS (capped due to old monitor refresh rate) on the old monitor, so I know my hardware (5800x3D/7800XT can push higher FPS)
I started experiencing this 60FPS BS when I replaced my main monitor with a new WQHD one, so i know theres some thing going on, and all the internet fixes aint working.
I was previously running a dual monitor setup and this was not happening, so I was completely lost as to what the hell was going on.
WELL… there was ONE THING different between my old multi-monitor setup, and my new one…
… Old setup, was running different cables between the 2 monitors (1x HDMI, 1x DisplayPort), the current problematic setuc, was running 2x DisplayPorts to my GPU.
THE FIX/WORKAROUND
Well… I got a spare HDMI cable, so changed the spare non-gaming monitor to HDMI…
- So I have the main gaming monitor in DP, and spare/extra monitor on HDMI.
It magically fixed it, main monitor on DisplayPort how hits 160FPS
So try it, especially if your 2 monitors are not exactly the same brand/model/spec.
