As long as they break while still under warranty, replacement controllers don’t cost a thing. I contact Microsoft, they give me a reference number, and I go back to the store where I bought the XBOX and they replace them free of charge. The one I have now seems to be a lot better than two I had replaced so I’m hoping that I don’t need to bother with it again.
i got one controller that sounds like an old rocking chair and feels like its going to fall apart in my hands but it still works for now, i also got a second controller that also feels the same way and the right trigger spring has gotten very loud but still works for now.
I must admit I have no stick issues so far. I do however suffer from random spurious power off with the controller disconnecting. This does present a bit of an issue when racing online.
In addition I got the rechargeable battery pack and lead. The quality of the lead connection with the controller is appalling. It’s impossible to play while the charger lead is connected as it frequently disconnects switching off the controller completely. Also you have to get the lead positioned just right for it to work. Really shabby quality I feel. It’s a shame they couldn’t get all the vibration gear into the old controller, which I think was a purer design.
If you twist on it, it will disconnect. At first I thought it was just loose battery tabs, but nope. Problem is the thing is quite flexible when compared to the 360 controller.
There’s quite a lot of flex in it. If you grip it tightly and twist slightly with a wringing movement it will disconnect. Not that hard to do if you are super muscular like me, into the game, and a little bit OTT with your grip. Actually the stupid thing disconnects at the slightest provocation. GIve it a quick shake and see what happens. I haven’t tested it yet, but I have a feeling even bad language will cause it to sulk. I want my 360 pad back.
My rumble has not worked since day one,MS was to send me a new one but so far they have sent me 2 battery doors. I am so tired of their lies and poor customer service!
I have never broken a console controller. Official controllers have always given the impression of being bullet proof… I used to get through joysticks on the Spectrum+ and Atari ST at a rate though. Seem to remember Daly Thompsons Decathalon and Sensible Soccer respectively were to blame:)
