1: The loose plastic piece that shakes around inside the controller… once it does that… it’s screwed.
2: Usually after #1, the controller will steer itself.
I have a 3 year warranty on mine and I will keep replacing them if I have to, but I noticed from the first time I held the new controllers that they are cheap feeling. sp when utting the batteries in and putting the back piece back on. My PS4 controller is AWESOME and feels much more robust. I hope Microsoft refines it or improves it somehow…
my a button sticks when I first use it then after I push it about 20 times its fine . I haven’t spilt anything on it far as I noticed . as for my ps4 controller the R2 trigger broke . it looked like a thin piece of plastic wrapped around piece of metal that held the left side of the trigger in place snapped . so now when I push it in it only comes half way out because the trigger is at a slight angle .
Day one controller steering stick broke, in the uk have to send it to the Czech republic, anyone sent it back from uk and what post did you use and how much did it cost.
DON’T use Royal Fail…expensive and takes an age to go anywhere if it arrives at all. Goto: interparcel.com choose the economy option and they will come and pick it up from you! UPS will be the courier and will be nowhere near as expensive!
I sent 2 of the same items. 1 via Royal mail to Wales for £25 and 1 via UPS to Toronto, Canada for £18. The UPS one arrived in 3 days the Royal Mail one took 6 days.

I’ve had two left (steering) sticks go bad on me as well. Never a problem on the 360. First one was a Day One Edition, was sent back to MS a 31 days ago. So far, nothing back. Second controller was purchased at Costco, I expect an easier exchange than the Day one when I go this week.
Reading this thread is making me want to think some of you guys are being a bit too rough or something with them. I must be lucky to not have really any issues with my 1st party controllers even after hundreds of hours of use all of them that I can think of still function
my Xbox 1 primary controller (my day 1 is being limitly used and more a collectors item to me) still feels new without any issues that I can think of
My “Day One” controller broke because of FIFA 14 (at least I think FIFA was the cause).The left stick broke completly.
Sent it in, got a new one 3 weeks later.
Nope never broke a controller by playing Forza but I’m not a very aggressive driver and usually play the game on the easiest difficulty setting. The controller that came with my 360S is pretty worn out though and the left button doesn’t work properly anymore but both sticks still work fine but the left stick is pretty worn down since I mostly only play games that only use the left stick (rarely play FPS).
Having said I only broke joysticks playing sensible soccer 25 years ago (see earlier in thread) I bought Titanfall yeaterday. My Day One controller has had me wringing its plastic neck for the last 5 months with FM5. One hour with Titanfall and something broke inside:( Its alot heavier on the direction changes and my big fat clumsy hands wrecked the left stick.
