Forza breaks Elite Controller get extended warranty

I am now on my 3rd one, just exchanged again at MS store. Had to fight with them cause warranty just ended to get the exchange. Every time left stick gets messed up. If you buy one be sure to get an extended warranty from where you buy it. Tired of the happening. Lets see how long this one lasts. Only 90 day warranty. This is now my 6th controller. Mostly I play Forza and these junky controllers cannot handle it. On my original 360 controller, I played a lot of Forza there too and it did not break and works perfectly to this day and its 10 yrs old. What is everyone else’s experience with this?

On my 2nd elite controller, left thump stick would move up and down in its case, only 3 weeks after stupid 3month warranty was up. Diff get extended warranty.

Still using the standard One controller I got with the Forza Edition Xbox console last year, haven’t had any issues with it. I’m rather surprised to hear that the Elite controller is having such problems.

Still can’t believe you’re on a 3rd elite controller. I’ve had mine since day one with over 1,200 hours of racing mostly on FM6 but other Forza titles as well. Never had a single problem with it. I see you have around 600 hour more play time than me on FM6 alone but wow.

Maybe 3rd times a charm?

I’m the same, clocked many hours on my elite controller in forza plus many other games and never had a problem with the sticks or electronics/mechanics.

In saying that though i do agree with recommendation to get the extended warranty - here in aus it comes with a 12 month warranty by default and i just had mine replaced the other day at the 11th month mark since the rubber grips were starting to warp and come off.

im on second, but don’t think Foza is to blame, its the controller itself.

i’m ready to get my third one. i am 52, disabled hands and not much strength in them either. i notice the left thumbstick is worse than the others. this is documented in videos on youtube. there is a kit you can buy on amazon to open the controller. after the second one started messing up, i took the right thumbstick from the first controller and put it on the left side of the second. it seems the metal is weak around the post. this is definitely a design flaw.

oh #4 lol and it’s already breaking lol. Yes design flaw but easily breaks when turning, I use much less force for a regular game. I’m gonna call the local video game repair shop when it completely goes again and see if they can repair it for good. Tired of returning it cause the same thing keeps happening. Sure it’s not Forza, any racing game would break it. I just wanted people to know. It is insane MS does not change the design.

Im using the elite controller for almost two months now, usually at about 2hours per day. I have no problems generally but I can definitely hear some annoying cracking noise coming from the left stick. Its fully functional and overall a great controller, actually the best I have ever used but its for sure a big disappointment for a 150 euros controller…

After many hours of racing with the Elite, I had no problems [yet]. What I did noticed though is that when using the left stick as L3 and you push it down to zoom in on your car in the paint booth, it puts heavy pressure on the plates which can easily shift after many repeated use. Can’t say that that is the sole cause of your problems, but might be wise not to be too hard on the left stick when zooming.

The Elite controller’s analog stick breaks, really?

I have my X-One controller from 2 years back, works great. I have my X360 controller from nearly a decade back, works perfectly!

I have been using my elite everyday since I got it almost 2 yrs ago. I have had no issues at all. I know I used to burn through a 360 controller in 6 months. I am not rough with them either. I don’t jam the thumb sticks side to side or up and down. The Elite controller and the xbox one controller are the originals that I have, I have not had any issues with either. They have lasted me 4 times longer than the 360 controller. I play Forza 6 everyday, so no Forza does not break controllers, more than likely it is the user.

I already said it’s racing games and the force I use from turning. It will break the left stick. Lots of people have broken it playing Forza. It’s different for everyone, my original 360 controller that came with the 360 in 07 works perfectly. It’s a good idea to get an extended warranty cause it does have the potential to break for the way some people play. This 4th one already broke within a week.

Well, the steering will only turn so much. Cranking the thumb stick out of the controller won’t make it turn any more. You need some bump stops on it I guess. I didn’t have any problems breaking the thumb sticks on my 360 controller. It was the rubber at the top that wore off. Also it would not center anymore. I would be turning right or left and let go to center again and it would still be going left or right. I have about six of them laying around that are like that.

it’s not really a conscious thing, I can’t help but have a vice grip on the controller when I’m racing lol. I try to relax my hands and find myself vice griping again. One really hard turn and it breaks the stick. You will hear like a cracking sound and that’s it.
