I’ll admit, I’m not the fastest player. But I have been playing racing games for long and I can keep my laps clean. But since early access I’m trying to be first in qualifying but still not able to manage to do that. In each lobby I’m hanging around 6-8. Best position I had is second, just once.
Earlier my skill rating was 2400. I thought if I bring it down I may easily get it. Now I’m in 1200, but still people are faster than me. Are they really matching based on the skill rating? Does this mean everyone in the world faster than me?
My skill rating is 4.7k and I get humbled in all my MP games. There’s always one Verstappen wannabe in all my races so I rarely seem to win for now at least… I do notice however that they seem to be driving different cars to me and presumably have optimal tunes. I think the playing field is a bit out of wacked ATM with tuners hesitant to share their tunes due to exploits and due to the brilliant car leveling system they introduced which is currently limiting most players in terms of what they can drive…
MP for me is mucking about around the last third of the pack.
For reasons of game/life balance I originally approached forza back in the day by doing just drifting tunes & liveries and taking race tunes off the shelf.
So, with the focus on tuning (and the disastrous state of importing liveries), FM is knocking me out of my stride somewhat. Is it what it is I guess and I presume I will develop in time.
I know with lot of practice I can get it some day, but still I was curious how in the world there is always some people ahead of me. I guess time to ignore this skill rating and actually get better…
What you’re experiencing could be skill or could be assist driven. The more assist that you have enabled, typically the slower you will go.
If that isnt the issue, it could be minor thing like coasting through corner or braking too much. The lines you take may be at issue too.
For example, in qualifying, i tone it down to ensure a clean lap for lap 1. For lap 2 and 3 I push much harder. The difference from lap 1 to lap 2 and 3 ranges from 1-2 seconds. What Im doing though isn’t a big adjustment.
In other words, small improvements can drastically improve lap time.
I totally understand. I cant for the life of me figure out how they get such fast lap times. I have no idea how anyone can race with no assists. I use traction and stability on sport but not off. And especially how people use no abs…thats horrible. And then people say to use manual…lol. i can drive a manual car in real life but on a controller it just doesnt feel right. Then you get the people who crash into you and i end up with a penalty. Idk. I do fine in free play and career mode but online is difficult. Idk. I use the tuning app for my cars n its worked well so far. I guess its back to practice practice practice.
