Horrible Frame Rate lag in multi-player while in party chat

several of us who have experienced the extreme frame rate lag in multi-player online games, have pinned the problem to party chat… If we stay in game chat, then no frame rate lag…

Also, I notice the same problem in free play while in party chat… in that case it seems specific to certain sections of certain tracks, and is further aggravated when drivatars are pitting…

Please fix… organized league racing depend on party chat…

Thanks!

PS… bump this post if you have been able to demonstrate this as well…

It’s linked to party chat? Good find if so.
We were suffering with horrendous lag last night whilst playing with party chat enabled. Literally unplayable at certain sections of tracks.

By the way, whoever thought it was a good idea to take you out of party chat when you open a multiplayer lobby then again take you out of party chat when you join a race (only to have the ‘Use party chat’ option buried in the driver profile scree) should be shot.
What a ridiculous change. We were joining races in progress last night and you cannot change the chat settings while the race is ongoing. So we sit in silence for however many minutes waiting for the next race intermission before we can switch to party chat again.

If I’m in party chat then leave me in party chat!!! No other game does this!

on xbox one i never get this fps lag in multiplayer,my game runs fine to me

Yep… we have seen several of our league driver’s who do not experience the issue… but equally as many who most definitely do… I’m glad to hear you are on the good side of this issue…

Additional testing and discussion among our members… ( SimROnline and TORA ), HAVE CONFIRMED this issue goes away in game chat (for those who experience it)

Also, we can pretty definitively rule out connection rate and/or latency, because some of our members with worst connections do not experience the issue while others with top notch connections do…

Keep bumping this post with your added comments if you’ve been able to confirm that the frame rate issue you’ve had/are having, go away if you stay in game chat…

Thanks all!

Bumping this… Game chat seems better than FM6 but still doesn’t work perfectly, so parties were pretty much a mandatory thing for organized racing.

Frankly, Turn 10 should be embarrassed that they can’t even get a basic thing like in-game communication working properly.

We tested this last night with friends.

First set up a normal party chat, go into lobby, the game decides to switch us to game chat. Continue to private lobby where we change it back to party chat. Horrendous lag at nurburgring which we thought was due to the extremely long track. I recalled seeing a bug report of this due to chat so we created a new lobby with same track, but in game chat and it was silky smooth…

This is a strange bug because it only seems to affect some of my friends including myself. Some of my friends have never experienced the problem. However I have found a fix and I can remain in party chat. I basically held the power button off my Xbox One console for 10 secs to do a hard reset. I then pulled the power cord out of the console and waiting 5 mins before switching my Xbox on again. Since doing this the problem has been solved.

Someone with more technical knowledge than me might be able to explain but I feel this bug is something to do with clearing the cache on the HDD.

Speaking of framerate, someone at T10 should explain to me why 3 seconds before the race starts, you look around your car and everything is at 30fps or lower. The race starts and it’s magically at 60fsp.

I can confirm this issue as well, in a regular 10-12 party group, with good connections.
Last night the game was virtually unplayable, massive s…l…o…w…d…o…w…n…in corners and straights, crashing back to dashboard mid race etc. no names above cars. This was not an isolated incident, it seems to be getting worse.
We will try game chat only tonight and see if that improves things.
And to think, I got a refund on Project Cars 2 because of it’s issues to buy Forza 7 Ultimate Edition, I’m beginning to regret it.

EDIT: Ok, we tried the game chat “fix” and it seemed to improve things a lot, I’m not saying this is a 100% fix, but there was virtually no slow down and the game was very playable.
So for anyone in a group give game chat a try, sad that your forced to do it, but if it makes the game playable, give it a go.
