FM5 was my first FM game and I have to say it is my least favorite. I am not saying it is a bad game, I am just saying it is my least favorite of the series.
When I got FM5 and tried it out, I couldn’t do anything right. I was running into the drivatars, walls, off the track, and any other place you weren’t suppose to be. I thought it was the worse racing game ever.
I then bought FM2 for $3 at GameStop. I was hoping it would be easier than FM5 and teach me enough that I could at least complete an entire lap on FM5 without running into anything. Well, I was wrong. I was still driving off the track, into other cars, and into walls.
Fortunately in FM2 you could do something interesting. You could run a race in a C class car when the AIs were driving F class cars. I could at least win races. That is what kept me going. I starting playing with the options in the game. I thought assists would make races easier to win. Wrong, again. I then starting tuning. I learned how to make the car behave the way I wanted the car to behave. I finally learned how to drive. The game was great.
I applied what I learned in FM2 to FM5 but I was never really enjoyed FM5 as much as I did FM2.
I then bought FM3. What a great game. In opinion the best in the series. I then bought FM4. Almost as good as FM3. I then bought the original FM. Given the console it ran on, the original Xbox, FM was a great game.
Since FM6 has come out I’d have to say I like it better than FM5 but it still isn’t as good as FM3 for game play.
The most probable reason most place 4 ahead of 3 is the community aspects and multiplayer options that were brought in as well as everything from 3. If you jumped into 4 late you might not have benefited from them as much online. Very similar games otherwise.
I have more hours on FM 4 than on any other titles combined, but FM 5 has just been a rush-through,never could get warm with that.
FH 2 is (imo) the best forza on the X1 for community things.
Hope to see some lost things and features on FM 7 and more attention on the wish list here.
honestly the thing that i dont like about forza 6 is that theres to much focus on making endless amounts of cars but not enough tracks to keep the game fresh. i just hope forza horizon 3 will be sole with forza horizon 1 as a marketing deal and forza motorsport 7 will be sold with forza motorsport 4 3 and 2 as a marketing deal in the future.
Well, they’re contemplating making the game available for PC as well - not the best news for us console-only gamers as we’ll know for sure we’re getting a watered down version of the next Forza game.
If this happens my Xbox will literally become useless. I could even get a wheel then and clamp it to my desk. Something I can’t do with the console as I play it sat on my sofa.
well if it means we will get better wheel support (force feedback) i’m all for it. If they will just port the same ffb code over to the pc version,i think it will flop big time.
Would love to use the Logitech G27 for Forza 6, but I would really not be thrilled if I have to repurchase the game and all the DLC again as I bought the ultimate edition at full price preorder.
I think this is the end of Forza as an “enthusiast” game. It is a mainstream title and will no longer cater to those that crave realism in their driving/racing games. I hate to make this comparison, but it really is the same model as Need 4 speed and other driving games that have annual releases. It’s a shame really, but business is business.
Looking at Forza’s release records, it’s clear that releasing a title every year now (between Motorsport and Horizon series) and following with DLC is the most important thing to Turn10/Microsoft. Features, fixes, updates, etc will always take a back seat to revenue.
I’m curious to see what AC brings in April. I’m just not sure our “next gen” console is ready/capable of handling really driving simulators. Case in point, PCars.
I love being able to pop online and race, which is what Forza allows, but the hoppers are so bad and the leagues are not 24x7 (at least not for pinnacle drivers). If I want to race at dedicated times, I’m going to join an organized league. For anybody that hasn’t tried an organized league, it really is the best way to enjoy the game with clean racers, qualifying, rules, etc.
