Holding angles

Hey folks,

Have spent the last two nights joining lobbies and watching the pro’s do their thing… I have noticed that the cars appear to hold the optimal angle forever! But I can’t see any obvious handbrake/brake working??

So confused! I can get a good drift on 70% of the bends, but only rack up like 2.5k average… I mostly do it cos I enjoy it, not for the points, but would be nice to know how to get those angles held!

I use several Japanese RWD cars, have brought tunes/designs from others on SF.

Thanks

James

Are you joining point lobbies or user created ones? If you’re in point lobbies then you’re most likely seeing people using AWD cars, takes less skill and is less forgiving, but goes a lot slower.

A lot of things factor into being able to hold an angle. You don’t need loads of torque; however, it’s nice to have a decent amount of torque throughout a particular gear so you’re able to keep the tires spinning while also being able to flucuate speeds. You need some traction on your rear tires also.

I know many drifters will disagree with me, but I use stock tires, rear width fully upgraded but I put my front tire pressure up (46 ish) while keeping my back tire pressure around 32 psi when the tires are heated.

Doesn’t end there though, the way your suspension and camber is set up will affect the way the drift feels. I have many free tunes on my storefront, if you wish to try one.

Your cars must be so slippery, if you’re using 46 psi in the front and 32 psi in the back while using stock tires. I normally go with sport tires and 25/26 psi in both the front and back.

Thanks for the suggestions, if I get on later I’ll check it out.

i have tons of tunes for sale on my store front. i get many requests on tunes and they sell like crazy. if you have a request gift me the car, ill tune it and gift it back to you. camber, caster, toe and suspension play a big part, but tires, brakes, diff, and gearing are equally as important. its all a balancing game and every car is different. once you get comfortable with a tuning setup, you can use that as your base tune for most cars and make the subtle adjustments you feel fit from there.
