Holden Xbox Racing Team Commodore VF '13 - change Division to Forza AUS

Why is this months reward car, Holden Xbox Racing Team Commodore VF '13, isn’t a part of Forza AUS division? Why is it in Forza Specials division? This doesn’t make sense.
I was looking forward to finally start using it in Bathurst online vrooms, but i can’t. Why this chunky 4-door aussie V8 car is excluded from aussie race?!

Reply/“Solution” from JetPartySalad: “Thanks for the feedback. We are closing this as won’t fix. We placed the Holden #10 outside the Forza AUS division because it was not the same generation or field as the other 3 Forza AUS cars currently in the division.”

The VF Commodore, FGX Falcon, and L33 Altima all belonged to the “New Generation V8 Supercar” era, more commonly known as Car of the Future. Car of the Future was introduced when the VF arrived in 2013, with FG Falcons upgraded to the new specifications, and L33 Altimas, E63 W212s built new to the COTF rules in 2013, and 2nd-gen S60s in 2014. COTF ended in Supercars with the retirement of the L33 Altimas at the end of 2019, and only the ZB Commodores and S550 Mustangs were built to the newer Gen2 Supercars rules.

All four V8 Supercars currently in Forza Motorsport 2023 belong to the same division, and frankly, the two VFs should have the exact same specs.

I can confirm Lambo is 100% in the right, they are materially the same car with only minor cosmetic difference in real life.

There is no reason to not place the car in Forza Specials. Just because the year is different does not actually make the car different.

With how consistently you get the class assignations wrong, your misplaced confidence here JPS is unsurprising. Please fix this misjudgement.

Also if we could have the paint map on the 2014 HSV GTS fixed as well that would be great. There’s huge black splotches all over the front that cannot be painted over nor covered with decals.

So a car from the same set of regulations is now put into a different category to the other V8 Supercars because it’s a little bit older, yet we have BTCC spec cars lumped in with TCR class cars which are completely different regs and performance levels, not to mention how GT’s have been handled over the years, the GT3 / GT2 split of late has helped but still there’s discrepancies between cars and the regs they were built to. Let’s not mention LMDH & DPI cars being put together. Yet, in this case, the V8’s are from the same set of regulations just different years. Mind boggling, yet, unsurprising from previous.

Hope to see this resolved and the car categorised correctly.

Yeah correct. If they don’t allow the different V8 Supercar years to race agains each other then it makes no sense that a C8.R races against a M6 GLM in GT2 class, or a 991 GT3 R against a 458 GTC.

Let alone the mess of GTX cars where they put not only different rulesets like Group 4 (3.0 CSL) or Group 5 (Capri Turbo) together but even cars from different ruleset generations, especially when they added the Nissan GT-R LM as a 90’s GT1 car to this car group…

Continuing the discussion from Cars - Holden #10 Xbox Racing Team VF - Incorrect car division (1956380):

To not add this car to the Forza AUS group makes no single sense at all. I will elaborate:

V8 Supercars started with a new ruleset for the 2013 season that lasted until 2022. Holden used the VF Commodore from 2013 until 2017 before changing to the ZB Commodore. So basically the 2013 version reward car is not only in the same ruleset as the existing cars, all Holdens are basically the same model. It’s only difference seems to be less power for the 2013 Holden but this is no issue as it has a fitting upgrade part to gain the power back.

It makes no sense that this car now gets split up because it was a differen season because Forza never cared and cares about that. Meanwhile

  • the recent Corvette C8.R GTLM car competes against the M6 GTLM in Forza GT2
  • a quite recent 991 GT3-R (and probably the even newer M4 GT3) competes against the very outdated 458 GTC in Forza GT3
  • even worse: in GTX sportscars we have group 4 cars like the '75 CSL against group 5 cars (different ruleset) like the Capri Turbo against a GT1 car (Nissan GT-R LM) that is 2 centuries younger than the CSL.

If you don’t split up GTX sportscars into GT1, Trans Am, Group 5 and Group 4 then it is utterly stupid to even think about NOT putting the 2013 Commodore into the Forza AUS…

This is very frustrating. Today I wanted to use my hard-earned Holden reward car in the Forza AUS endurance lobby and it won’t let me:

In the title post for the suggestion thread for adding this car to Forza Motorsport 2023, it was subtitled with the broader heading of “Holden New Generation V8 Supercars 2013-2018”, which, is a categorisation that also applies to the 2017 Holden #22 Walkinshaw Performance VF Commodore. So, if the #10 Xbox Racing Team car is supposed to belong in Forza Specials, the #22 Walkinshaw Performance car should also be in Forza Specials, as by the Suggestions HUB thread for adding the car, they fit the same category.

But at the same time, according to the marketing material for this game, it’s very heavily inferred that the 2013 #10 Xbox Racing Team Commodore is a Forza AUS division car, as it was being used to promote the Forza AUS Series that took place during Australia Month and Update 15. If it isn’t supposed to be a Forza AUS division car, wouldn’t it have made more sense to use one of the other cars to promote the series, as was done with the #22 Walkinshaw Performance Commodore earlier in the same post to promote the Forza AUS Series in the Australian Tour in the Career Mode.

If this fix requires a complete physics and performance rebalance of the car then so be it, just remove the tunes and lap times made before the update where you change it.

As to the suggestion it was not in the same field as the other three cars in the game:

If we’re considering the three cars as their specific chassis, rather than the model as a whole, we find that yes, they did all race each other at points. The #10 Xbox car is chassis 888A-030, the #22 Boost car is WR-020, the #17 Shell V-Power car is DJRTP04, and the Nissan is either KR002 or KR005 (based on the liveries it ran in FM7.

With those chassis in mind, here’s their histories from 2013 to 2017:

Focusing purely on where the Xbox car met the other “three”:

  • It never raced against WR-020, but they both raced in 2013
  • It never raced against DJRTP04, that was a new build for 2017
  • It shared the grid with KR002 at Bathurst in 2013
  • It shared the grid with KR005 in the first half of 2016

Otherwise, WR-020 shared a grid with both KR002 and KR005 for the entirety of 2015, and WR-020, DJRTP04, KR002, and KR005 were all on the grid together for the majority of the 2017 season.

So, if we’re really going to divide the Supercars based on their age, it should be the DJR Team Penske chassis and the Nissan (if it’s KR005) in Forza Specials, as all other cars date from 2013 or earlier.

That’s pretty conclusive evidence Forza has misclassified the car. It should be under Forza AUS.
