I recently started recreating logos with custom letters (no forza fonts) and I’m having difficulties with letters that have curves to them. I know that’s most letters but most of them I can figure out a relatively simple way to make them. The one I’m having the most trouble with is the letter S. Can anyone out there give me some times on what shapes to use? Tips on how to make them more efficiently would be appreciated also.
No matter how you cut it, “S” is probably the toughest letter out there for anyone. Personally, I use the hollow semi-circle a lot, with the parenthesis-like shape ( or ) to help blend the transition from one shape to the next. In regards to the ends of the hooks, I typically use a small square or trapezoid to even the ends of the semi-circles. Oh yeah, don’t forget the power of the skew!! Don’t limit yourself by just resizing and rotating your shapes.

There are a few shapes I use to help with the nightmare ‘S’ but it depends how you are trying to create to explain what i’d use.
What are you making or hoping to use this on? Do you want to create letters using ‘masking’ or solid so it can be used on metallic or crazy base designs?
Primative #27 / #30 / #36 / #38 / #39
Comm Vinyl #01 / #24 / #34
Those are the core ones i use in ‘s’
The easiest way to create is to make the top of bottom half then spin it 180!
If you want to try and keep it the same width then use a circle shape the right size needed and stamp it down to create a frame you can then overlay vinyls over.
Hope that helps!

Thanks everyone for your responses. I’ve seen the vinyl explanation from forza 6 before but it’s still helpful. I now look at every logo I real life as if it were made of forza shapes. I’ve been practicing a lot lateley with fonts and when I get a chance, I’ll upload some pictures to this thread. Until then, happy painting.
the easiest way I recreate custom fonts is looking at a picture of that font and starting with the easiest letters first. Once I get the easisest letters done I move on to the more challenging ones. I use a variety of basic shapes and twist/ skew them accordingly to match up best. you gotta remember that it will never be perfect but it will be very close.
