You may remember a couple months ago we posted some photos of the McLaren P1 replica that found its way to our lobby. Well this Heavy Metal Affliction tells the backstory of the build and showcases some exquisite photos of the real thing and the replica.
Tell me how many places you can see the McLaren logo integrated into the design of the P1.
i noticed one on engine window area.one on the hood and 1 on each of the 4 wheels.im sure at least 1 or 2 more would be in the interior as well.im proud of McLaren for making this car.i havent been proud of them since the 1994 McLaren F1.from the original 3.3secs 0-60 to an astonishing 2.6secs 0-60 is ridiculous.what i would do to even sit in that car.
WOW, I cannot tell which is real and which is replica. I see that McLaren is doing what Mazda did with the RX-8’s TRAINGLE SEARCH, only instead of a RX-8 and triangles it p1 and McLaren sign search lol XD. that’s a pretty nice replica, wouldn’t mind having that and saying I own a p1. =D, I swear if u tell that to somebody and u show them they will believe.

FERRARI 360 STATDALE
Honda NSX-R GT
Subaru Impreza S204
I counted at least 13, not counting the interior. Great article and awsome car! Ide take one around Mugello if i could
GT INVICTUSRAVEN
Unicorn… 2007 Ferrari F430 Scuderia
I see the design features of the McLaren logo in many places in the P1. Headlights and front indicator are most prominent, but for me, there are also the blade profiles in the wheels, bonnet scoops, side scoops and rear scoops. Part of the front fender and rear cut out of the back panel is also accentuated with the logo. Same with the cabin and wing, while not specific shapes, the outline seems to be there.
Of course this would just be my eye appreciating the aerodynamics of this beautiful car.
Hi John,
Great idea by T10 to have a replica made. Thanks for the background on the replica car. My answers:
At IDEF, I will say it is the replica.
Greatest receptionist?.. Absolutely!
P1 shapes in its design = 10 (2 headlights, 2 hood scoops, 2 upper ends of the rear quarter panels, 2 red tail/brake lights, 2 vents on top of the rear fenders)
Thanks,

F5 Gift = if ever possible, the Bird Cage! Or anything F5.
Great article, Great pics again
Love this car so much even the replica would adorn any forcourt.
Not sure about the logo count as They have sutley included it at every turn and curve of this beautiful car.
Dare say it will be double figures though or I’m just seeing it where it is not.
GT miniw76
FH anything would be nice.
What an effort to got to, build your own replica! people should remember this if ever they question T10s passion!
IDEF appears real to me, it’s 2013 IDEF! real P1 was on-hand (just another day in the office ey? lol)
McLaren symbols, I count 20 in total, but let me take the real one for a spin and I’ll find you a few more (if only in the tyre tracks I leave in the car park)
Great effort guys! beautiful feature car & a pleasure to throw around Forza 10/10
What missing? Obviously, the engine. The mirrors don’t seem to be exactly like the ones on the real P1, it looks like carbon fiber on the real P1 and all red plastic on the fake.
The “alveole” shape back panel looks different on certain pictures. Door handles; are they missing on the replica?
As for the logo integrated in the design; well, it’s evrywhere. It seems that every curved line in the shape of the car invites you to see the logo in it.
The front lights are the most obvious then, the hood scoops, top back air intakes, the small window beside the doors…
Real or Replica? It’s easy to talk now that the cat is out of the bag; i don’t believe I would of been able the notice the difference if I had the chance to be there at the time.
At the FORZA MOTORSPORT 5 launch: replica
At the IDEF: replica.
Wow! Did not know that was a replica after all the photos I have seen of it at the Turn 10 HQ.
One question I have is whether the first photo (of the assembly line) is presented in full-color or if it is stylized to B&W with certain color highlights? I’ve been staring at it for ten minutes, and it could go either way.
I really can’t tell the difference. It looks like the Real P1 has “nicer” paint, but since its actual McLaren paint it could just be the lighting tricking the eyes. Its a shame the headlights have yellowed too, but it doesn’t detract much from the appearance.

i only counted roughly 6.not including what might be in the interior.headlights/scoops/rear scoops.but all around its a gorgeous looking car and just getting close to it would be enough for me
